A list of puns related to "List of women linguists"
Yesterday he updated it.
Iβve been a long-time lurker, but this is my first time posting. Thought Iβd give something back and show you all the things Iβve bought in the last couple years on Taobao (that still have active links).
Each time Iβve bought via Basetao and used EMS for shipping to the UK. My parcels have arrived in the UK taking 2-6 weeks each time. Iβve had to pay customs twice. Iβve been very happy with the service Basetao have provided.
My stats:
5 ft 10, dress size 10-12 (UK) or 6-8 (US), shoe size 7 (UK). Bust: 34D, waist: 28β (on a good day, or pre-pasta), hips: 40β. Broad shoulders. 29 years old. Typically, Iβm a Chinese size large and UK/US size small.
Some of these were gifts for others, so Iβll tell you their stats if applicable as we go.
I did not receive any discount or incentive to write these reviews.
Tops:
CDG striped long-sleeve top Bought in size L. This was a little large on me. This is because it is mensβ sizes. Iβd say it would fit a size 16-18 (UK) woman. Despite this, I love this item and donβt mind it baggy. The cotton feels thick and durable and it looks accurate as far as I can tell. And a bargain! Branded. 9/10.
Yves Saint Laurent beige t-shirt Bought in size L. This is intended as an oversized, baggy t-shirt. It fits like a UK menβs large. I absolutely love this one. The material is thick and incredibly soft. I mostly wear this to workout or lounge around. I canβt deny I have low-key flexed when lending it to boyfriends though. This was so cheap, at Β₯79. Branded. 10/10
Reformation silk cami Bought in size L, colour champagne. This fits like a UK 10. Beautiful top, but cannot seem to wear a bra with it, but I guess thatβs fine. Unbranded. 9/10
Renaissance print button-up shirt Donβt know if this is a rep of anything, was a bit of a random purchase. Bought in size XL because I wanted it to be oversized. It is indeed very large on me. It does look like the picture, but is less vibrant in person. Only just received so canβt comment on durability yet, but it was only Β₯79. 8/10
Bottoms:
Silk midi skirt Again, I donβt know if this is a rep of anything in particular. I bought it in size L, in t

What are your favorite subreddits that are women-friendly? Spaces you feel safe to share your female perspective!
Here are a couple of mine:
I have also found that most skincare and haircare subreddits are full of overwhelmingly positive ladies, even though they are not necessarily subreddits focused on women.
What are some of your favorite safe spaces for women on here?
This seems to be a topic that hits the headlines every few months. There's this idea that the reason school dress codes have certain rules that can appear to target girls is institutional misogyny, it's not.
Men and women's clothes are different, and there's some things that just aren't relevant to boys. For example, short skirts being banned doesn't affect boys because they don't wear skirts, same with how rules against visible bra straps are aimed at girls because again, boys don't wear bras etc.
Same with why the list of banned items tend to be dominated by articles of women's clothing, it's because women's clothes simply have more stylistic variety. I can only think of 3 or 4 types of men's tops, women on the other hand have a laundry list (no pun intended) to choose from.
And last of all, it's not about "sexualisation", it's about teaching both boys and girls about the fact that they will have to follow dress codes throughout their adult lives and that there is a time and place for everything.
I know it will be different in each language but maybe the most beneficial words and phrases when dealing with a new language. it would include things like numbers, simple objects, body parts and then also important phrases like, how do you say ________ in your language? what is the difference between this and that. question words and most common question phrases.
Basically I am asking if there is a handbook that tells you what you should look for first.
Edit: I am the women's rights activist that the mod attacked. My friend u/twohagsover30 and I are the women who started the recent fight in FDS. Here is my post, perhaps TwoHags will share hers here as well. Feel free to share this far and wide. I will also take amendments and additions if you have any.
I have compiled an abridged history of anti-women legislation supported by Republicans. Do not be fooled by the gaslighting, internalized misogyny, and the need to 'play nice' with the opposing side. These people are actively passing legislation that IS and will continue to kill women.
Trump has blocked womenβs access to health care through legislation, regulations, judicial appointments, and legal action.
Via the application of stress or other methods. I'm currently working on a project to improve the understandibility of sped up speech.
Edit: I'm signing off now. Thanks to everyone for all your questions and kind words. I hope to do another AMA soon! If you want to learn more about language, linguistics, cognition, and culture, check out my podcast series: The Story of Language podcast with Dan Everett

Some of the things that you might want to ask me about are:
The four decades I have spent working on about 20 Amazonian languages, including living over 7 years in villages of the PirahΓ£ people, along the Maici River in the Amazon jungle.
Jungle experiences, including attacks by large anacondas, Amazonian giant centipedes, Wandering spiders, jaguars, pumas, and so on. I also have had all three types of malaria of the Amazon multiple times, including once when I had malaria, vivax, and falciparum simultaneously.
I began my career in the Amazon as an evangelical protestant missionary but became an atheist, which caused severe problems in my family, and led to loss of employment as a missionary (who needs an atheist missionary?)
I have a 15-year running debate with Chomsky in which he (and others) have called me a charlatan, though many other linguists, anthropologists, and cognitive scientists agree with me. If I am right - I am - Chomskyβs principal theoretical works - that language is innate and that all human languages have recursive sentences, are wrong.
In my book Dark Matter of the Mind: The Culturally Articulated Unconscious, I created a βranked-valueβ theory of culture and how culture and language build each other, a cognitive symbiosis.
My most recent book, How Language Began, argues that language is a human invention, that it is over 1.5, probably 2, million years ago. I have followed up on this with an archaeologist co-author, Dr. Larry Barham, in which we use data from tool construction and treatment to argue that Homo erectus had language. More and more data from many other scientists shows that language is far older than our species.
The linguist replied, βTheyβd be more possessive and have more frequent contractions.β

... keep reading on reddit β‘Waves white flag I come in peace. So I'll cut straight to the chase, I am a male cringes fantasy author who is trying to improve writing when writing women. I've been writing for 7 years now (started when I was 12) and when I started writing I used the Tolkien method of including very few women, and that's obviously not ok. The past couple of years I've slowly been improving and I was wondering if you had advice on dos and don'ts to help me continue improving.
The list of all the women that woke up is much shorter.
I know it was quite influential for a while and is credited with synthesizing disparate fields of linguistics. Do mainstream linguists still give credence to it or has the idea fallen out of favour?
Where can I see a list of movies sorted by which demographic group liked it most? E.g. women, preferably 40+.
Anyone knows?
