A list of puns related to "List of strong chess tournaments"
Greetings, kings and queens :)
Let me introduce you with new chess tournament format which was born a couple of weeks ago. Your goal is gonna be to perform special tasks playing real games on chess.com or lichess.org

I'd like to extract some stats from swiss tournaments with strong participants (at least 5 or more 2600 or equivalent strength in older times), like the grand swiss 2019.
Another would be the junior world chess championship (here: http://chess-results.com/tnr479945.aspx?lan=0&art=0&flag=30)
Then Gibiltar: http://chess-results.com/tnr377792.aspx?lan=1 (and the "older" isle of man)
European open invidual championship: https://chess-results.com/tnr404992.aspx?lan=1
Asian continental open: http://chess-results.com/tnr442666.aspx
Any other swiss tournament (recent years are also fine) with several 2600+ from which I can get some stats?
An alternative is that I go through the glorious "the week in chess" (or the chess tournaments listed by chessbase monthly, checking which one has a swiss format and tens of participants) but that will take quite some time.
GM Simon Williams: "If anyone's wondering, here are the current leaders of the online British Chess Championships."
GM Daniel Gormally: "Ah, the familiar name of giyl dominating, as it should be."
Through eight rounds of the British Chess Championships, an unknown, untitled player named Giachos Gerasimos, alias Giyl, had racked up upset after stunning upset, beating GM Keith Arkell in the eighth round to rocket into first place with 6Β½/8. His play aroused a lot of suspicion from opponents. (The moniker 'Giyl' may have been a data entry mistake on Chessbomb's part, since it's given as the club/city which he represents and resulted in some duplicate games being recorded).
Note: Giachos had earlier scored 4/6 in the rapid portion of the event, knocking off two FMs in Chris Duncan and John Blackburne, but did not arouse suspicion.
GM Keith Arkell: "I have 5.5 and am waiting for my round 8 result to be reversed, when I will have 6.5."
Reaction from Sharks 4NCL, a chess team that competes in the UK's National Chess League.
As a result of this outcry, the unknown wunderkind has been belatedly disqualified from the championships, with all his results reverted to losses. This has caused a corresponding upheaval in the standings.
I've never entered an over-the-board tournament before but figured it might be fun and a good experience to have. I've never done any of this before so don't really know what's expected/required from me. Any advice or guidance is much appreciated.

Tweet >Steve Nash on the difficulty of a new team bonding during COVID: "In the good old days, I would have put my credit card behind the bar and told the guys to have a good time.β Jokes about holding an inter-team chess tournament...then acknowledges that's probably not a good idea π
After about an hour, the manager came out of the office and asked them to disperse. ''But why?'' they asked, as they moved off. ''because,'' he said ''I can't stand chess nuts boasting in an open foyer.''
Cos they keep saying "check, mate"
