List of infectious permanent diseases

What are all of the incurable diseases that can be caught from other people?

I don't care much about diseases that last for let's say 2 weeks, but i want to prevent catching something that's going to scar me permanently.

My mother doesn't believe in bacteria, viruses and airborne dust or similiar things and oftentimes tries to infect me because she finds my reactions funny

I’m Thomas Bollyky, director of the global health program at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), which provides independent, evidence-based analysis and recommendations to help policymakers, journalists, business leaders, and the public meet the health challenges of a globalized world. I’m also the founder and managing editor of Think Global Health, an online magazine that examines the ways health shapes economies, societies, and everyday lives around the world, and the author of the book β€œPlagues and the Paradox of Progress,” which explores the history of humankind's struggles with infectious diseases like the new coronavirus now known as COVID-19.

My work has appeared in publications ranging from the Washington Post and the Atlantic to scholarly journals such as Foreign Affairs and the New England Journal of Medicine. I’ve testified multiple times before the U.S. Senate and served as a consultant to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and as a temporary legal advisor to the World Health Organization.

German head of RKI (institute for infectious diseases): We are in the very beginning of an epidemy.

In the live press conference together with german chancellor Merkel & health minister Spahn, the head of our scientific institution just said this.

I think a lot of people on this sub believe that they can buy the dip now, but the prediction of the RKI is that 60-70% of the population will get infected without vaccines, immunity or therapeutic treatment methods (none available at the moment), the only question is what time frame. If this happens in a very short time, the public health infrastructure will be completely overwhelmed, but if we can "flatten the curve" by limiting social contact, the infrastructure we have and are setting up now will be enough and hopefully vaccines or treatments will become availble.

They are also discussing the economic impact, and I assure you that it will be big. Another major point is that all european countries are part of the epidemic, it's just that italy is "further along" in the development which is why they have so many more cases and deaths.

More people in all countries WILL be infected and more people WILL die.

If you are long, I am confident the virus can be beat. If you are short term speculating that this is "the dip" - I think the real effects of the virus might be at least 1-2 months away.
