A list of puns related to "List of films released in IMAX"
I have created a list on letterboxd on each and every movie that was released in IMAX, in North America.
I frequently update it when tickets for upcoming films go on sale. Take a look: https://letterboxd.com/movieaficionado/list/list-of-films-released-in-imax/

(FYI - IMAX Sydney is meant to be on there for 70mm and Melbourne IMAX and Event Cinemas Queen Street IMAX for Laser 3D but they are missing. Also not sure about Lincoln Sq in NYC - didn't they remove 70mm?)
Also beware that apart from the IMAX 3D Sinsheim in Germany and Melbourne IMAX and Event Cinemas Queen Street IMAX, the rest of the non-US laser locations and the TCL Chinese in LA aren't 'real IMAX'.
Very interesting about 2D Laser shows too in the US. Was expecting them to be all 3D or varying, but this suggests they will all be 2D.
For a TRUE vr IMAX experience, of course :p
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew of any resources or a mailing list I could join that informs of older films being screened in theaters. In particular I discovered Christopher Nolan's Inception, Interstellar, and Dunkirk and watched and loved them all well after their theatrical runs. I would absolutely love to experience any one of these movies in the theater one day, but I'm not sure where to look for these kinds of screenings. I've had trouble finding anything with some basic Google searches. Does anyone know of anything that could help me with this?
Hey - just went onto the Wiki entry βlist of imax dmr films.β Used to be a complete, comprehensive list of every feature film released in IMAX (w/ notes on the side about special ARs, countdowns, format, etc). Now itβs just the 70mm releases and the films that had special ARs. Figured this was the best place to ask - does anyone know what happened/why someone changed it?

I know that the Fort Worth museum has an Omni IMAX theater and they tend to show major Hollywood movies.
The Dallas museum is now Perot, which doesn't have a 70mm IMAX theater.
I've read that AMC on Webb Chapel has the film projector but they tend to do digital showings.
Am I correct? Did I miss any?
Every year we see dozens upon dozens of films released. Lately -- the past four years to be exact -- we have seen some great years in film. 2015 looks to be no different from the previous years. I will list some of the films that I am hoping to see, and hopefully some more get added by some of you as well, I will continue to edit the thread if it has some success to be used as a guide for the year. I see some great directors releasing films, some great actors as well, and hopefully we get a year of many, many Oscar-worthy films. I will write a brief thought for some of them to hype up their release as well.
Long story short, I was listening to John Williams on Spotify and it got me thinking about Spielberg. I looked up his filmography and saw that these two films came out in the same year (1993).
Considering the stark difference between these two movies in terms of tone, storyline and overall themes, I think Spielberg has a pretty handy claim to the best ever 'hot hand' with these films. I just thought considering he made a near perfect adventure film which is universally loved and constantly gets love on this sub, and then follows it up with one of the best films of the decade on possibly the most harrowing topic in human history, that really is some feat. That must have required a huge shift in attitude and behaviour.
He's the only one I can think of that has made two films that are ranked at the top of their respective genres.
I thought that FFC was the undisputed champ with Godfather and Part 2 but then I saw he made The Conversation in between those two, so I'm not too sure.
Scorcese and Tarantino are two honourable mentions here as well. Both have had some notable streaks.
Edit: sorry for the confusion - I didn't mean films that were released in the same calendar year.
After a recent post advocating against seeing the new Avengers in 3D, I was reminded of a nagging issue that seems to be getting worse and worse. Movies are being converted to 3D, often poorly so, and 3D screenings are scheduled so aggressively that 2D options are scare or unavailable. This is particularly bad for IMAX screens, which present 3D conversions of films even when the quality of experience is far inferior to what the audience would get with the 2D IMAX presentation.
One particular case that will likely be frustrating: The Force Awakens. It's being shot in 2D on film with some sequences using a 2D IMAX camera, but is currently scheduled for a 3D IMAX release. There's no reason we shouldn't be able to see this movie in 2D IMAX (the way it was filmed and imagined), but it will probably be impossible.
For example, when Godzilla came out, it was a no-brainer to see in IMAX: big creatures should be seen on a big screen. But reviews confirmed that the 3D presentation didn't help an already murky/dark-looking movie. Obviously, the best viewing option would be large-format 2D, right? But it wasn't available. Not just in my area, but essentially anywhere in the US.
I'm sick of 3D being coupled to IMAX, as if these things should go together in all cases. The only way this makes sense is in the accounting department of the people making money off these films. I love a well-done 3D movie, but those have been a small share of all the things that have been rolled out in 3D. And I know about the 2D glasses trick; this doesn't get around the fact that I have to put something on my face that makes a movie dimmer.
My big hope is that theaters start offering 2D IMAX presentations along with 3D so that customers can choose what they actually prefer. How the hell can we make this happen? Especially for Episode VII, which has "2D IMAX" written all over it? Blow up JJ's Twitter? A change.org petition? We need to do something...
TL;DR: I want to see more 2D IMAX movies being offered instead of poorly converted 3D in IMAX. How can we make this happen?
Here are film that Iβm talking about:
-Apocalypse Now
-Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (βMaleficentβ got IMAX 3D release)
-Midway (WWII film)
-1917 (WWI film that might be a single-take film like βVictoriaβ)
Here are issues with some of these films getting an IMAX releases:
-Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (sandwiched between βGemini Manβ and βThe Aeronauts), both of which are getting IMAX release with the former being shot in 3D (making IMAX 3D release very likely) and the latter having IMAX aspect ratio for some scenes)
-Midway (Sandwiched between βTerminator: Dark Fateβ and βFord v. Ferrari, both of which are getting IMAX release with the former possibly being shot in 3D (making IMAX 3D release very likely should that be the case))
-1917 (βStar Wars: Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalkerβ. Enough said.)
Are there any chances that some of these will get IMAX releases in the U.S.? Why or why not? Also, can you list these films in order of likelihood of IMAX releases?
Oh, and late IMAX releases count.
Sourced from end credit, missed one at top right corner of the screen
Iβve been very upset for a long ass time. The shitty recording of it that was uploaded to youtube is the most beautiful thing I ever heard and I canβt get over it and I just wanted to vent here.
