Celebrity Boxing Matches

In the past few years of my degeneracy, I have stumbled across some entertaining prop bets for celebrity boxing. The BBC article about Justin Bieber wanting to box Tom Cruise jogged my memory of the Soulja Boy vs. Chris Brown and Steven Seagal vs. George Foreman matchups that bovada offered odds are.

This got me thinking. What is the matchup I would want to see? I fell down the rabbit hole and put it down into 2 categories:

  1. Most hilarious
  2. Most evenly matched but relevant

I started coming up with a few ideas. Paula Dean vs. Mama June (Honey Booboo), Ben Roethlisberger vs. Kobe Bryant, Gordon Ramsay vs. Anthony Bourdain. The list can go on and on....

So I ask you fellow degens what fight would you want to see?

Being relatively new to boxing, what are some matches that you feel best exemplify the art of boxing (technique, defensive prowess etc.)? The sort of fight that if I mentioned I'd seen it to a lifelong/ well versed fan, they'd nod their head in approval/would make for a good conversation.

I was hoping for matches I could watch in their entirety. But as long as there's some film of the match out there it'd be fine for me.

EDIT: I'd welcome fights from any time. 70s, 80s etc.

EDIT 2: Thanks for all the recommendations! I't seems like I have a lot of great matches to start with.

With 2021 in its final month, and everyone getting set to start making their MOTY lists, what matches from the start of the year (winter/spring) do you thing needs some final recognition as MOTY candidates?

Any company you want obviously. Thought this could be a good reminder for some of some great matches that may have been forgotten/slipped the mind, especially in the last half of the year as crowds have returned and things have changed so much. Plus could help people possibly check out matches they might haven’t seen yet.

My two picks off the top of my head are Johnny/KUSHIDA and Pete/Finn, both from Takeover: Vengeance Day back in February. Both were incredible technical classics. Both dream matches for me and they delivered.

Newbie fan of boxing here; which matches are good to start watching?

I’ve actually been a casual fan of Manny Pacquiao since the Mexicutioner days, but I don’t really know much about boxing. Some other matches I’ve watched were really big celebrity (idk the right term) ones like Conor vs Floyd, KSI vs Logan. Cricket Happenings: Boxing day test match summaries of 3 matches & cricket news

Pakistan recovered to 222 for 3 v New Zealand with Williamson undefeated on 94. Indian bowlers bowled out the Aussies for 195 & were 36 for 1 at the close. Bumrah & Ashwin superb & Sri Lanka amassed 340 for 6 at close v South Africa. Dhananjay de Silva 79 retired hurt & out of the test series, unfortunately.
