A list of puns related to "List of active sumo wrestlers"
In my opinion, having a loving family or a devoted partner early in one's career seems to boost a rikishi's trajectory.
We have Takakeisho who married at age 24 and is the ozeki closest to yokozuna now.
Terunofuji and his wife were together when he was ozeki in 2015 at age 24.
As to the other two ozeki, Shodai is a mystery as far as I know. Asanoyama is without a partner at age 27 and still living in the Takasago stable. On top of that, he tragically lost his father while serving his ban from sumo.
When I saw how Hakuho's family helps him count his reps in his latest NHK documentary, I thought he must derive a tremendous amount of strength from that. He met his wife at 18, married at 21, and became yokozuna 5 months later.
Harumafuji met his wife at age 24 and had his first child at 26, and became yokozuna at age 28.
How important do you think a healthy family household plays in an athlete reaching their full potential?

I've always wondered how the fighters felt when they were asked to play with the president. Did a sumo wrestler go all out against the head of state from another nation? Did the boxer who apparently partially blinded TR mention feeling bad about it? Did the people from the US or Japan think it was weird that the president was fighting sumo wrestlers and judokas?
Thanks for any thoughts~!
(Note: For the purposes of this thread I am defining "active" as "has had at least one documented match in the past calendar year and has not announced their retirement".)
So this is something I've been wanting to do for a while. I've always found it interesting how many people went through WCW and are still active today (some of them who people might not realize). Note that I almost definitely have missed several luchadores, as lucha is kinda a blind spot for me. And there's probably at least a couple of obvious non-lucha ones I've missed as well. So please feel free to help fill in the blanks!

I was recently reading about Εrora Satoshi and stumbled upon his instagram page. He retired from sumo in 2018 and moved back to Russia, and, judging by his posts, it doesnβt seem like he works a regular job. I was curious to know whether or not sumo wrestlers receive any sort of pension, considering all the injuries, health problems and extreme amount of weight they accumulate during their professional career. And if they do, are there any limitations due to the fact that some sumo wrestlers might retire at a relatively young age because of an injury?
Despite their cuddly appearance, Sumo wrestlers are a force to be reckoned with. Under all the visceral fat is muscle built up over years of training to knock over another 400 lb person. However, their immense body size means that their mobility is significantly hampered.
This got me thinking: Would a high school kid with augmented statistics focused on speed and reflexes be able to outmaneuver and eventually defeat a Sumo Wrestler by exploiting their slow movement?
For the purposes of this prompt, The kid has reaction times/speed/stamina that is 2.5x greater than that of a regular high school kid. I have decided to arm the kid with a wooden bat in order to make up for his otherwise lackluster offensive capabilities. The kid is also completely naked save for a pair of underwear, and every inch of his exposed skin and his hair is covered in butter, making him extremely slippery and hard to grapple.
EDIT: The bottom of the kid's feet and his palms are not covered so he can walk without slipping and grab his bat, sorry for misleading description
The Sumo Wrestler, on the other hand, is simply a sumo wrestler in his peak. You may use any real-life examples for the purposes of this prompt, and composites of real-life feats by a sumo wrestler or similar athletes are allowed.
If the battle takes place in an arena the size of a standard basketball half-court, who would come out on top?
