Putting together a list of communication boundaries/rules of engagement with my wife for when I am having an episode (regardless of polarity) and would love your input on what to include

Also posted in /r/bipolar

The title pretty much says everything. Since I can't think rationally all of the time, I'm taking the time where I do feel rational to put together some material to hopefully help when I can't see reality. My disproportional reactions have caused so much pain and fear which has taken it's toll on our ability to communicate. My hope is that putting together as much information as possible now, that fear will be alleviated.

So what works for you guys?

Traitor Legions Togetherness Tier List - Discussion

Here's my take on how it stands. Feel free to point out any examples of unity I've missed or under/oversold

T1: Legion Tier: Black Legion, Word Bearers, Iron Warriors, Death Guard*

T2: '''''Legion''''' Tier: Thousand Sons, World Eaters, Emperor's Children

T3: What is a Legion? Tier: Night Lords, Alpha Legion

[And before we begin - look, I know the Traitor Legions are inherently fragmented and are not what they once were, mainly due to the very nature of turning against the Emperor (once a turncloak; always a turncloak, after all...) and being spared Codex Reforms splitting them up along differential lines is also a thing; the Black Legion have had their fair share of civil war(s), the Word Bearers probably squabble over what shade of red to paint their armour and World Eaters aren't always killing everything in sight or else their ships simply wouldn't move, but I believe we can build an hierarchy of togetherness nonetheless]

  • The Death Guard might be T2 due to the 'Typhus faction' being quite large and appealing to Chaos newcomers, but the XIV's post-Heresy loyalty is emphasised more than the other 'Patron Legions' as I like to call them in my opinion. The Barbaran loyalty to Mortarion reminds me of the Iron Warriors' loyalty to Perturabo in flavour
  • T1 Legions seem to benefit from very rational leaders; a living, possibly not-demon Primarch (or based boy) at the helm, and are either so balls-deep into Chaos (XVII) or dubious of it (IV) that they have kind of found a semblence of control and equilibrium. They also happen to be largely, outwardly Chaos Undivided - whatever that means in 2019. Meanwhile, the Black Legion is the Black Legion: a product of Abaddon's force of personality, uniting aspiration and the myriad of methods used to keep things in check - or even organisedly chaotic. Furthermore, despite the inherently war-like nature of the Legiones Astartes and the fundamentally violent nature of Chaos, these guys are not totally governed by violence - the Word Bearers venerate, the Iron Warriros fortify and trade, the Death Guard subsist and create... albeit at the cost of millions of slaves' lives. The Black Legion, once again, are the Black Legion, taking the completely opposite approach by focussing on the Long War
  • The 'Patron Legions' are basically a mess of scattered warbands, but do have feats to their name coming together. The XV's repeated attacks on Fenris. The Dominion of Fire campaign. The Phoen

Been watching the Doctor Who Marathon on BBC America and right now they're doing a collection of the best episodes, which have been arranged in a particularly clever order with common threads of the motif of "Time Passing" linking them together. Here is a list of linking threads I noticed so far
  1. Started watching at 2:00 pm EST, while "Heaven Sent" (My personal Favorite Episode) was playing. In this episode, the Doctor grieves Clara and "Takes the Long Way Round" to escape the confession dial, which has been configured into his own personal hell based on the nightmares of his childhood.
  2. After this, the marathon goes back to Season 2: "The Girl in the Fireplace" where the Doctor on a future spaceship takes "The Short Way Round" using time windows to get to Madame de Pompadour in the past, while she must live her life at a slower pace until her tragic death. Notably, Madame falls in love with the Doctor and looks into his mind to see his childhood.
  3. Next is Season 3: "Blink". Here, Sally Sparrow can only communicate with the Doctor though clues he leaves for her in the past (1960) and clues she gives him in the future (2000s). When she gives him the Transcript this is The Doctor's first time meeting Sally, and her last encounter of him. Also introduced: The Weeping Angels, who send people into the past to live out their lives and die of old age (Similar to Madame de Pompadour).
  4. Season 4: Silence in the Library: The introduction of another iconic villain: The Vashta Nerrada and the introduction of an iconic woman in the Doctor's life, River Song. This episode is the Doctor's first encounter with River and River's last encounter with the Doctor (just like Sally Sparrow in the previous episode. Also, the Doctor is watched on an old TV set by a girl in a 2000s style house separated from him. (Just like Blink) In the second half, Donna is kept in a dream world where she has a family. Another great Steven Moffet 10th Doctor episode playing with the passage of time.
  5. Season 5: Amy's Choice: The 11th Doctor battles a dark manifestation of himself called the Dream Lord who forces them to chose between one dream world where the Tardis is falling into a Cold Star, and another where Amy and Rory... have a family. They are uncertain as to which is the real world, as time passes at the same rate in both worlds. But when Rory dies, Amy says she doesn't want to live in a world without Rory, and choses the Tardis world. The Doctor explodes the Tardis in that world however, revealing that it too was a dream.
  6. Season 5: Vincent and the Doctor: After visiting an art gallery Amy and The Doctor help Vincent Van Gogh defeat an invisible monster and show him his future in the present day in an attempt to try to give him meaning. Notably, Amy flirts with Vi

A pre-breakdown, terrible sitcom episode with the Family Togethernessβ„’ crew

I wrote this as part of a reply to another post, but since it only talks about about my own experiences it seemed like it would be better if as it's own post. I hope you enjoy these fairly mild injustices!

Before everything boiled over, my parents put me and kid on a flight to visit, and also arranged time for us to see my in-laws. That part of the trip was so uncomfortable.

The bed they'd designated for me was covered in dirt and cat piss, which I discovered at 10 PM as I was getting ready to go to bed. They offered to change the sheets, but the stain and smell permeated the mattress through the feather topper and I did not want to sleep on that mess. FIL and I went to pick up some Nature's Miracle to tackle the spot, and I ended up doing most of the work to clean it. I threw a towel over the saturated spot, rotated the whole mattress so it'd be at my feet (only one side was for sleeping), and made do.

Later in the stay we went to a family friend's holiday BBQ around noon, got home around 5, then my in-laws went to bed at 7 PM because they were tired. No discussion of dinner plans or anything, so I made PBJ for myself. I didn't need them to cater to my every need, but it was so strange for them to basically disappear off the face of the planet without a word.

FIL works in an office, but MIL works from home. Apparently I was expected to stay home, too, just in case MIL wanted to take a break and see her grandkid. I made plans to visit one of my cousins who has a kid my kid's age about 10 minutes away and in the middle of the work day. MIL cried crocodile tears about how unfair it was that she was missing out on time with kid.

Kid had just started solids and we were still at 2-4 ounces a day--basically just one meal. MIL took it upon herself to buy a bunch of baby food pouches for him and any time I was out of the room someone would be shoving a pouch in his mouth. I repeatedly asked them not to feed him without asking me, which fell on deaf ears. By this point kiddo was reliably STTN, but on night two of our stay he screamed from about 2-4 and his belly was hard until he pooped some rabbit pellets. Congrats, in-laws, all of your extra pouches constipated kiddo and left him in pain and cost us both sleep. I got brave, explained the pain they'd caused, and laid down the new rule that they weren't allowed to feed him anything. They seemed to listen, but I hid the pouches just in case.

In the aftermath of our later showdown, they bragged about how

Putting together a list of 2 best episodes of each Doctor from Classic Who.

Hey folks, One of the girls I work with, likes new who & wants to get into old who. I started putting together a list of great episodes of each doctor. Thinking 2 episodes of Each doctor: Here is my list so far. Thoughts, any changes that I could make?

1st doctor:

The Dalek Invasion of Earth (1965) (Have to have a classic Dalek episode, I think this one is the best) The Aztecs (one of the best historical episodes)

2nd Doctor

The Tomb of the Cybermen ( I honestly think this is the best Cybermen Episode ever made) The War Games ( Strungled with another really good 2nd doctor serial as so many have missing episodes, so I am not sure about this one)

3rd Doctor- I really strugled with this one just to chose 2 so it might be 3 but could be easily more

Spearhead from Space ( I have never been a huge fan of this episode but so many people think it's a classic, i think it needs to be on the list)

The Dæmons (easily my favourite episode and I think a great master episode)

The Green Death (a good 3rd episode if she wants more, thoughts?)

4th Doctor

Pyramids of Mars ( a solid Doctor & Sarah episode)

The Talons of Weng-Chiang ( it will be one or the other) Horror of Fang Rock

5th Doctor

(I am accutaly stumped as I don't know 5 very well, help!)

6th Doctor

Vengeance on Varos (obviously)

?

7th Doctor

(No idea at all but 2 good ace episodes as she has said she wants to see a kickass companion)

So that's as far as I have gotten, any help would be great thanks folks.

Maybe a movie list of things you should know before watching the series? I don't even know how it would get put together but I'm sure someone could think of a way. Maybe posts where everyone puts in their favorite reference and make a list of the highest voted or something.

After seeing many posts on this sub about what to show people you know like parents and partners from the show to get them into it, I thought it would be sweet if we worked together in the comments to make a list for different personalities and tastes.

Some targets we should cover- Comedy Romance Young children (6 years old or so)- I think the first 2 episodes are very good for this age to become interested Older children (9 and up) Teenagers Sadness/heavy emotions (The southern air temple? The desert? Appas lost days?) Failure and redemption (boiling rock?) MUSIC (I genuinely don’t know what episode has the best sounds) Action/fight scenes

And many more things we can cover- when we have made progress I’ll make a new post with suggestions for what different types of people should watch to enjoy the show more

My Personal List Of Favorite Episodes By Season

Just because I want to post my list:

1: Extreme Aggressor

2: Revelations/Legacy

3: 4 Way Tie: In Name and Blood/Seven Seconds/About Face/Damaged (my all-time favorite season)

4: 52 Pickup/Bloodline

5: Mosley Lane

6: JJ (HM: Out of the Light/Supply & Demand)

7: True Genius

8: Restoration

9: Route 66

10: Mr. Scratch/Nelson's Sparrow

11: Entropy (definitely the last strong season)

12: Red Light (or maybe the first 2 episodes with Hotch)

13: The Capilanos if I had to pick one and solely because MGG was the director

14: Nothing-this season was hot trash

15: And In The End (after some terrible couple of seasons, it was a mercifully decent end)

Yes I cheat and throw some ties in there. I think there are quite a few episodes in each of the first 11 seasons that could be HMs too, but that could go on a while. Please feel free to join in the comments!

Been watching the Doctor Who Marathon on BBC America and right now they're doing a collection of the best episodes, which have been arranged in a particularly clever order with common threads of the motif of "Time Passing" linking them together. Here is a list of linking threads I noticed so far.
  4. Season 4: Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead: The introduction of another iconic villain: The Vashta Nerada and the introduction of an iconic woman in the Doctor's life, River Song.
Notably,
