A list of puns related to "List of Samurai Jack episodes"
It's been sooo long since I watched Samurai Jack.
What are some essential episodes I need to see before new season airs?
Someone please help me get into the groove of Jack's world once again..
I made a list of the most essential Samurai Jack episodes! I noticed that some people on this sub had asked for this, but nobody had created a list with reasoning yet. Now that Season 5 is coming out, some new people might want to quickly catch up on the story beforehand (or if you're like me, you might want to re-watch some amazing episodes).
The ones I chose either moved forward the plot, developed Jack's world, or was really unique in some way. Of course, the decisions here were all based on my own personal opinion, so don't get mad at if your favorite wasn't included! You can watch all of these episodes on Hulu if you have a subscription, or on Youtube if you do some searching. Finally, let me know if I missed any critical episodes and I'll put it up
Season | Episode | Title | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 1 | The Beginning | Explains the premise of the show |
1 | 2 | The Samurai Called Jack | Explains Jack's name |
1 | 3 | The First Fight | Concludes the first two episodes |
1 | 4 | Jack, the Woolies and the Chritchellites | Explains how Jack knows where to journey |
1 | 5 | Jack and the Three Blind Archers | No plot development, just an iconic bad-ass episode |
1 | 8 | Jack and the Lava Monster | This is the first episode that touches upon the gods and mythology of the show |
1 | 10 | Jack and the Scotsman | Introduces the Scotsman, a popular and re-occurring character |
2 | 1 | Jack Learns to Jump Good | Explains how Jack got one of his powers |
2 | 4 | Jack and the Scotsman II | Further develops the Scotman plot |
2 | 6 | Jack Remembers the Past | Develops Jack's backstory and childhood |
2 | 7 | Jack and the Monks | Shows where Jack draws his inspiration and strength |
2 | 12 | Jack and the Spartans | No plot development, but one of the most iconic episodes of the entire show |
3 | 2 | Jack and the Zombies | Explains one of the unique characteristics of Jack's sword |
3 | 5 | Jack in Egypt | Develop's Jack's childhood, as well as the gods of the show's mythology |
3 | 6 | Jack and the Traveling Creatures | Foreshadows the future of Jack and his quest to go back in time |
3 | 9 | Jack and the Haunted House | No plot development, but this is a unique episode with a drastic art style shift |
3 | 10 | Jack, the Monks |
The episodes βPlague of Madnessβ and βThe Night Feederβ are both fun twenty minute horror showcases that are beautifully animated and devoid of dialogue.
I host a podcast called "The Best Animated Shows Ever⦠So Far!", in which my buddy MC and I watch the first few episodes of a cartoon and then rank it on a big list against every other cartoon we've watched. Is it fair to judge a show on just three episodes? Absolutely not, but it gives us an excuse to always watch something new!
We just put up our episode on Samurai Jack... it's weird, I remember being super fond of this show as a kid, but I think I may have only seen the first episode because I didn't remember the futuristic/sci-fi setting that the whole rest of the show takes place in!
We'd love it if you gave the show a listen, and would appreciate your input even more! When we cover the last part of the opening movie we'd like to incorporate your thoughts about the show based on comments you leave here, or through a quick voicemail. Let us know how you first discovered the show, what you like about it, favorite story arcs (they'll be spoilers for me, but MC has seen the whole thing), where it'd rank against all other cartoons for you personally⦠or anything else!
Thanks for checking it out, we'll hope to hear from you soon!

I recently heard that samurai jack is free to watch on adult swim, so i made an account and i typed in all of my cable provider information. but for some reason it only lets me watch episodes 1, 8, 9, and 10 of season 5 and i can't watch any other episodes from any seasons at all, even if i use a vpn. How the hell do i fix this? Does it have anything to do with my cable provider?

Yeah uh that seems to be a lie as far as I know, cause all I can see on Adult Swim's website are seasons 3-5. Season 3 doesn't even start on episode on the first episode, so what gives??
Hey guys, just thought I'd share this with you.
Those heavily augmented hitmen from the trailer, riding the cab: https://i.redd.it/hl82uif8sc311.jpg
They reminded me of an episode of Samurai Jack series that I watched as a kid, called Tale of X9. It's about a robot assassin who starts to care for a dog. The whole episode gives off a great noir, bladerunner-ish feel. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves cyberpunk and rain: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5k717i
Good memories. Lulu, sweet thing.
Yes, I've been binge-watching for season 5.
The only thing I remember is a creepy old smiley man that turns up every time something goes wrong. The man is short, and has a full head of grey hair. Maybe I'm wrong, but he probably had cursed Jack/predicted something at the beginning of the episode. I remember watching this episode when I had a fever and the old grinning abomination making his way into my fever induced nightmares.
So I had posted on here asking for a list of questions to ask Genndy unfortunately they didn't take questions from the audience but they did answer some questions that people had asked here.
it was toned up as the audience has now become adults
no, he came up with it while taking a shit 8 years ago (he also said it will make you cry)
many but 3 blind archers was a top one
no he doesn't have a japanese name.
My thoughts on the first 3 episodes: first of all they were edited in a way that it just flowed together like 1 big episode so i'm not sure where it stops and ends with each episode.
tone is dark but retains its childish humor at times. jack definitely has changed (you'll see how) and a lot of things have happened since the last episode (50 years in the show have passed).
aku's new voice actor has a VERY HARD JOB and i'd give him a B+ it sounded like Mako but i could clearly distinguish the voice differences which made me a little sad. genndy even talked about it a bit after the showing, said it was hard to replace mako.
general synopsis if you've seen the promos: its these female assassins (humans) sent to kill Jack.
my rating for the first 3 episodes would be 7/10 it was a good intro with great fight scenes but it was up and down.
there was no intro/song in the screening but the end credits did have the classic song :)
don't ask for any spoilers, you should watch it with a blank slate the first time around.
MODs PM me for proof if you need it.
Or at least 45 mins with 15 mins ads.
I have feel so far in the new season that the episodes aren't really getting that "oomph" feels. They are though still great episodes.
Like everytime I feel "oh shit, yeah this is it!" the episode would end and I just like "it ends already?"
There are so many bad-assery that are "skipped out" just to get to the point faster.
Spoiler
Like when fighting his anger, it feels like it wasn't emotional enough. A wild anger and depression that's been lingering for 50 years should've been more resilient.
I don't know, it's a silly wish for sure. Maybe I just feel I need more Samurai Jack.
Fifty Thirteen years have passed. And Genndy Tartakovskyβs still got it.
So itβs been over a decade since we last saw the Samurai, and 50 years within the context of the show. Jackβs still out there, fighting the good fight, trying to get back to the past, but heβs a bitter, broken man. Heβs haunted by his family, and wracked with guilt over his failure to return home. We first see him wearing a Mad Max version of samurai armor, and riding a Mad Max motorcycle. Heβs still helping those in need, but where before he was driven by determination, now heβs driven by anger.
The heart of this episode proceeds along familiar lines. An assassin of Akuβs slaughters a village to lure Jack. They fight. Jack wins. But this is just a device to introduce the new setup. It shows just how messed up Jack is by the decades of fighting and failing β he actually stops to plead with the unseen ghosts haunting him in the middle of the fight, to the assassinβs confusion and bemusement. And very interestingly, it shows that Jack has lost his sword. It was something a lot of people talked about when the trailer came out. Why is Jack using a gun? Jack doesnβt use guns. Jack uses his magic sword. Well, Jack uses guns (and various other weapons) because his sword is gone. So that explains that. And sets up future episodes that will no doubt be focused on its retrieval.
(Edited to add: it occurs to me that thereβs a comic series. I have the first issue, but never got around to tracking down more. Possibly some of this is explained there. Anyone read it and know anything?)
Thereβs also a beta plot, centered around a cult worshiping Aku and training a squad of assassins to take Jack down. This part was downright disturbing to watch. It opens with a shot of the cult worshiping an idol of Aku, while in front of them a very pregnant woman screams in labor. Cut to a shot of a jet-black crying infant being placed at the foot of the altar, followed by six more while labor screams continue in the background. The whole thing was very unsettling to watch, and was followed throughout the episode with a training montage as the seven sisters are put through a brutal regime of instruction (including savage beatings while still small children). One of the girls, however, stands out, first for not being as skilled and vicious as her sisters, but who develops into the greatest of them. Itβs setting up something that we havenβt seen before in the show: a bad guy having an arc of her own.
And
