A list of puns related to "List of Queens neighborhoods"
People post some awesome pictures on this sub. I've seen beautiful walkable streets, protected bicycle lanes, futuristic bike storage, and light rail over green grass. Sadly for us poor Americans on this sub, 99% of those livable places are in Europe.
As someone trying to move out of a car dependent American suburb, I'm looking for bicycle & pedestrian friendly neighborhoods/towns/cities that don't require a change of nationality. Can anyone recommend a list? And if there isn't a good list already, this sub should make one!
An IDEAL list would have variety in terms of region, density, population size, home price, etc.
Hello All,
I'm originally from Hollis, Queens NY. Moved around the city a bit in the last 5 years. My family has split apart, my daughter has finished college and living with roommates in Queens. A lot of close loved ones have passed in recent years. My elder mom and one of my big brothers - just this past spring. In my late 40s now and hard for me to clear my head to make a move. Without close loved ones or a significant other, it's hard to know where to move. I tried Maryland for a year (Columbia & Silver Springs) and was miserable no matter how much I tried. Felt like the New Yorker in me had to be silenced every second to play nice. That killed me! I'm staying temporarily in Woodside, Queens close to my daughter.(Not my speed at all and super boring). Apartment price range is max $1850.00. The subways have become almost unbearable to me now with all that goes down in them. It's tiring to me now, but my daughter and I are each other's only closest family now. Looking for a thriving (much as it can be with a pandemic) environment that's safe (by nyc standards) diverse (POC friendly), with middle class, upper middle, mixed - that are sharp-minded & engaging people. Maybe even make a new friend or two if possible. I like the arts, music, dance performances, eating out occasionally, long walks, and terrific TV shows & movies. Some might say I need to move out of the state. Open to suggestions that a New Yorker might find appeasing and not isolating. I work remotely from anywhere. Helpful, honest, and caring responses would be highly appreciated. Thanks
Strictly speaking, Oliver wasn't the ''first hero'' even in the old Earth 1 continuity. But on Earth Prime, he definitely isn't the first by a wide margin, no matter what POTUS said at the end of COIE.
Just for the heck of it, here's a list of heroes who predate Oliver Queen putting on the hood in Earth Prime continuity.
Superman/Clark Kent
Batman/Bruce Wayne
Black Lightning/Jefferson Pierce
Robin/???
Wildcat/Ted Grant
Martian Manhunter/J'onn J'onzz*
Hawkman/Carter Hall**
Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders
Hourman/Rex Tyler
Commander Steel/Hank Heywood
Vixen/Amaya Jiwe
Obsidian/Todd Rice
Stargirl/Courtney Whitmore
Dr. Mid-Nite/Charles McNider
*I know J'onn has been on earth before Oliver became the Arrow but was he active as Martian Manhunter before the events of the Supergirl show? I'm not sure...haven't watched much of that show.
**I'm assuming that Carter and Kendra were active as the Hawks in previous incarnations...at least that's what was implied when they first appeared.
I am moving to NYC sometime in the next few months for work. My job has been very considerate and understanding about letting me work remote from where I am currently (South FL) but this won't go on forever -- nor do I want it to; I grew up visiting NYC with my cousins who lived in Union City and I couldn't be more excited to move there.
However, the comments I"m seeing online about the market are freaking me out. I'm concerned I'll have to spend thousands on a hotel or BnB just to get my foot in the door with a broker or landlord.
The thing is, I'm totally open to living in a less "trendy" or popular part of town, like Sunset Park, and commuting to my work on train or bike (I will be working in the financial district). My partner & I are used to spending an hour dodging insane drivers on the Fury Road (I-95) just to get to work -- nevermind getting to the beach or to see friends at a bar -- so a 40 minute commute reading on the MTA won't bother me at all.
Does anyone know what the renting situation is like if you move a little further away from Manhattan & the more popular parts of Brooklyn (Williamsburg etc.)?
Thanks a lot!
