On a trip to Australia, I went to the Australian Rules Football Hall of Fame. The selection process is similar to American Halls of Fame, but they have a special honor for "Legends," who can be elevated to that status by a special committee. Only 10% of all inductees can be made Legends, with special emphasis only on "the most significant records of playing and coaching," and " not a candidate’s overall contribution to the game outside of playing and coaching."
When I heard about this, I thought that it would be a good idea to implement in Cooperstown. That way we could let in more marginal candidates like Larry Walker, Lou Whitaker, or Bobby Grich and avoid the "not on the same level as Ruth, Griffey, or Koufax" arguments. It would also elevate a select few to another level of recognition, and concretize the "inner circle" of Hall of Famers.
For reference, a similar Legends category would only have 33 members today. What do you guys think?
The two new Hall of Famers are just next to each other in the WAR rankings, with only Trout between them.
According to baseball-reference [Career WAR Leaders] (http://baseball-reference.com/leaders/WAR_career.shtml) , the two inductees to the hall of fame Larry Walker and Derek Jeter is ranked 86th and 88th respectively on career all time WAR list.
Mike Trout is right in between them at 87th.
Larry Walker played 17 seasons, Derek Jeter played 20. Mike Trout played 9.

88th Derek Jeter (20) 72.4 WAR
I found it a funny coincidence.
It was announced this week that the Premier League will now have a "Hall of Fame" that will be the "greatest individuals honour" that a person can receive from the league. It has been indicated that the initial opening will be with just 2 Premier League greats. Which two do you think it should be and why?
