A list of puns related to "List of Greek mythological creatures"
I personally think the Hydra would've been awesome to slay. Someone said the Tartarus god would've been cool to see.
Who would you liked to have seen? Wish this game was still getting updates for these reasons π’
I tried to do this mostly based on personality/stories
Quinn- Artemis, goddess of the hunt
Mercedes- Euterpe, the Muse of music
Rachel- Hera, goddess of the sky
Finn- Aristaeus, god of cheesemaking (and bees and olives)
Kurt- Hermes, the messenger god
Artie- Glaucus, sea god and oracle
Sam- Apollo, god of the arts
Mike- Pistis, spirit of honesty and good faith
Puck- Dionysus, god of drinking, madness, chaos and ecstasy
Blaine- Cyamites, god of the bean (I can't really explain this one, but it just feels right)
Santana- Bia, the spirit of raw energy and force
Brittany- Terpsichore, the Muse of dance
Tina- Circe, witch-goddess of herbs
So since we know that the Greek Gods are likely all Goaβuld it raises the question What about the monsters and other creatures? Cyclopes(maybe theyβre Jaffa), Centaurs Satyrs Echidna, Gorgons(Medusa) etc. Could they be ancient enemies of the Goaβuld. And come on the Sphinx has to connect to the universe of stargate somehow. What creatures from Greek Mythology might you like to see modified to look and be alien in a new Stargate show?
It needs to be humanoid and related to fire. Does anyone have suggestions?
Off the top of my head, there are:
Jackalopes, per the Red Dead Redemption 1 Hunting and Trading Outfits DLC pack. I have no reason to believe that this is non-canon because it added the bunny-deers straight to the singleplayer at, IIRC, no extra charge.
Vampires, presumably. There are arguments that the vampire of Saint Denis is just someone who has lost his mind, but it's more fun to believe that he is an actual bloodsucker.
Ghosts, this one is certain. Agnes Dowd is an official ghost living in the bayou in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Zombies, presumably. Even though Undead Nightmare is non-canon, we can find the mask and the words used in the curse in Red Dead Redemption 2. Perhaps zombies can be real, if someone actually takes the mask and utters the words.
Whatever the heck the Strange Man is.
Am I forgetting any?
Picture or not. Iβm not fussy. Or maybe YouTube channel suggestions dedicated to this topic?
Many mythological creatures are the products of gods, and so are 'unique' and one of a kind.
My question is, what creatures are numerous in number? So far I can only think of Satyrs, Nymphs, Gorgons(?), Minotaurs (?)(was it's creation due just to the mating of a man and a bull or were other factors involved?), and Sirens(?).
Do y'all remember who the Sirens were? "They were dangerous creatures, who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and singing voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. Roman poets placed them on some small islands called Sirenum scopuli". Guys, porn is not worth it if it leaves you shipwrecked.
So after Jesus Christ was ratted out to the authorities once again (history always repeats itself), I had a look at a list of greek mythological figures, which is rather extensive and includes some familiar and very common names.
I am guilty myself of using one of these (Luna), official Anet partners do so too (Nike) and just skimming over all the names and my follower/friends list, I found several more (Phoebe, Thanatos, Chronos, Aion, Chaos, Selene, Dione, Aura, Helios, Leto, Orion Talos, Typhon).
And even ANet uses some of them in naming their npcs or bosses (Deimos, Nemesis).
Couldnt find any of your own characters on this list but want to join the club anyways?
Try this list of Christian Saints.
A great monster whose organs, if burnt as an offering, gave you the ability to kill gods. He was killed but the Eagle of Zeus took the intestines to Mount Olympus before they could be burnt. Any help regarding the name would be exetremly helpful, thank you.
I'm not an expert of greek mythology, but since I started playing the game I got quite interested in it. While reading about it, I noticed many monsters and creatures that were left out of the game. In the text below, I will list five***** of those creatures that I think would be a nice fit to the game, thus improving enemy diversity (and not only athenians, spartans, animals and some bosses). While they are not in the main game, we can still hope to see some of them in the next DLCs.
Most of the text below is copy pasted from many sources, I just rearranged or edited them in an order that makes most sense to give us a more complete view of the creatures.

Painting by Sebastiano Ricci of Centaurs at the marriage of Pirithous, king of the Lapithae
The most common theory holds that the idea of centaurs came from the first reaction of a non-riding culture, to nomads who were mounted on horses. The theory suggests that such riders would appear as half-man, half-animal (the Aztecs had this misapprehension about spanish cavalrymen).
Mythologically speaking, there are many versions of the myth about the origins of the Centaurs. The most common is that the Centaurs had one father known with the name Ixion, who was one of Aresβ sons. Ixion killed the father of his wife, but Zeus took pity of him and forgave his acts after some time. However, in order to do so, Zeus tried to test him. He created a replica of Hera in form of a cloud called Nephele and sent it to Ixion. Ixion was tricked and he tried to seduce the woman. The result of their mating was the monstrous Centaur. The other version is that their father was Centaurus, this Centaurus was either himself the son of Ixion and Nephele (inserting an additional generation) or of Apollo and Stilbe (daughter of the river god Peneus).
Of the various Classical Greek authors who mentioned centaurs, Pindar was the first who describes undoubtedly a combined monster. Previous authors (Homer) tend to use words such as pheres (cf. theres, "beasts") that could also mean ordinary savage men riding ordinary horses, though Homer does specifically refer to a centaur ("kentauros") in the Odyssey.
The most referenced Centaur
... keep reading on reddit β‘I LOVE Ice and Fire. As a mythology buff, it's a really fun mod to play. However I want to go beyond just the Greek/Norse mythology it seems to employ with dragons, sirens, etc. Are there any mods that add mythical creatures from other mythologies, like Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Indian, etc?
Kind of a very specific thing I'm looking for. I'm kind of looking for a "Travelers Guide to Monsters" sort of thing. "oh, you're taking a trip to the United States? Be sure to keep an eye out for the Jersey Devil! Many tourists try to snap a shot of Bigfoot but he's quite camera shy. Just keep an eye out for his cousin the Wendigo! He's much less friendly.
Or even a sort of Monster Manual like in D&D but specifically for mythological creatures. Hydras, minotaurs, jackelopes, etc.
If there's nothing like that, does that sound interesting or cringey? Because I would really like a book like his, and if it doesn't exist, maybe I'll make it.
EDIT: So, I'll open with accepting Facebook is not a great decider on the success of something, since friends will almost always be supportive, but I made a status on Facebook asking what sounded coolest: Traveler's Guide, Kid-Friendly Book or a Monster Manual, and almost unanimously everyone said Traveler's Guide was a fun interpretation of the idea, so I might start on a little pet project... There's TONS of creatures out there, so I think making different "Books" (Or maybe just start off as a blog?) in different regions could be better. A "North American Guide To Monsters" Would have everything from the Wendigo in Canada to the Chupacabras in Mexico and everything in between. Could even have a chapter on how to "Know Your Lake Monster!" Like,
Know Your Lake Monsters: Is it a Caddy? A Mussie? The Monsters of Thetis Lake? Always remember the Three L's! Location, Legs and Length. Thetis Lake is known for their population of Fish Folk, so always remember to keep your food(especially cooked fish) in sealed containers and to pitch your tents at least 1000 feet AWAY from the lake. If you're away from Thetis Lake, ask yourself this: Does it have legs? If yes, we know it cannot be the Caddy, as the Caddy is a cousin of the Loch Ness Monster of Scotland, and does not have legs, only flippers. If it doesn't have legs, check the length. Mussie sightings are few and far between, with locals being unable to confirm its appearance. We do know that it is long and slender, as opposed to Caddy's plesiosauric shape. One thing is for certain: Keep your distance! Lake monsters are known for defending their territory from well-meaning humans. Take pictures at a safe distance, but always tread these waters lightly.
Something like that I guess. Only longer, edited professionally, better researched and have a picture of all three dr
... keep reading on reddit β‘Played this game quite a long time ago. Probably more than 6 years.
Like mentioned in the title, it's a FPS and the theme is Greek mythology. You are in some kind of ruins and have to fight your way through skeletons, living statues etc.. I believe you also fight a flying creature at some point?
Fun fact: I always confused this game with the name War Rock. Which is a regular multiplayer FPS. So the name of the game I'm looking for might be kind of similiar? Seeing that I always confused the two.
Thank you! :)
