A list of puns related to "List of European association football families"
Just now from the telegraph. Mans is speaking truths.
I often see yanks say something like "I root for Totten Ham, Manchestershire Reds and Messi" (grammar fixed for legibility)

Just about every major European domestic league currently runs from late August to around May. However, a number of times throughout the season, there are scheduled breaks for international matches to take place. Sometimes these are merely for friendlies, but most of the time they are either qualifiers for the next major international tournament- that's the World Cup or, in Europe, the UEFA European Championship- or matches in the newly formed minor competition, the UEFA Nations League. In all of these competitive matches, the European sides will be playing only against each other, not against other national teams from around the world from countries whose domestic leagues may follow a different schedule.
Personally I find the international breaks punctuating the domestic season to be pretty annoying as they interrupt the flow of the competition and many of these international matches are pretty low-stakes. Also, I feel that the international matches are often of a disappointingly low quality, in part because national teams have had very little time to train together and work together as a unit- they're typically only away from their clubs for a little more than a week before returning. Therefore, I feel like we would see a better quality of football if all of these competitive international matches for the season were played at the same time, during the summer when there is no competitive club football happening. It would give the national sides more time to train together and to bond, and it would also be easier for the fans to be invested in the matches as they would all be played quickly in the space of a few weeks instead of simply having the occasional international match in between regular club football throughout the year, so I think it would make international football much more entertaining.
I know what some of you may be thinking- if the summer is taken up by international matches, where are the players going to get a chance to rest, and when will clubs get the chance to have a pre-season? My solution to this is simply to start the domestic season a bit later. Since there'll no longer be any need to pause the domestic season for international qualifiers and Nations League matches, domestic leagues can start a few weeks later and still fit in all their fixtures before the summer, so clubs should have as much time as before to give their players a rest and then start preparing for the new season. The domestic season will hopefully flow better no
