A list of puns related to "Learning management system"
Hi!
Last week I released a short introduction to my tutorial series and today I released the first part (Installation and setup of the project).
The project we're building in this series is a Learning Management System built from scratch using Django/Django Rest Framework and Vue.js.

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for the series. I hope you like it :-D

A lot of CS courses have separate solutions for distributing assignments, automated tests, submitting work, and class VMs (either cloud or local with something like Vagrant). My system, Anubis, wraps all of these things onto one single platform. The system automates the crap out of things that are done by hand in a lot of CS courses.
For each assignment students get their own github repo. When they push to that repo, Anubis runs automated tests on it. The results are then available on the website. Feedback before the deadline.
Anubis also has Cloud IDEs. These are temporary VSCode servers that can be spun up by students at a click of a button. The servers are docker containers that are custom built for the needs of the class (i.e they have everything installed that you would need). Because these are docker containers in the cloud, and not VMs, environments are consistent and stable for all students. We can also host *a lot* more students than if we did cloud VMs. These Cloud IDEs also have some k8s magic in the background where there is a robot user that automatically commits and pushes student work every 5 minutes. So no need to worry about lost work!
Then on the admin side of things, autograde results, and additional stats and usage visuals are available to TAs on the website. All of the administration things like deploying assignments can be done in our special "Management IDEs" that are only available to admins. The automation of autograding, and having those results available along with other useful visuals has greatly increased the grunt work for the grading TAs.
This system has been used for several semesters at the Tandon School of Engineering at NYU for the Intro to Operating Systems course. We even run our midterm and final exams on Anubis. We are looking to expand (potentially to other universities)! If you are a TA and think this platform would be good for your course show your Professor! You can inquire about Anubis at this email: anubis@osiris.cyber.nyu.edu

I just got a job offer as a learning management system administrator, which is half helpdesk and half back-end database administrator, my question is do this transition well to experience to be working in networking and security in IT? Or is it to far off as an entry level position? I'm pursuing a CCNA certificate and hope to get a job in networking, does entry level job as database administrator help me to transition my career to networking?
The university has announced that they will now also have a learning management system called Canvas available to instructors to use. Next school year, instructors will be using Compass 2g, Canvas, and Moodle.
June 2022 the university ends itβs contract with Compass 2g. Instructors will only be able to use Canvas and Moodle from then on.
One of the biggest complaints that I hear from fellow students is that it is confusing having to keep up with so many different learning management systems. What do you think should be done to encourage the university to require instructors to use ONLY ONE?
Streamlining the University Learning Management systems down to only one seems to make the most sense to me. Thoughts?
The LMS is extremely flexible. Training Modules can be of many different formats that are widely available (PowerPoint, MS Word, internet sites, PDF β just hyperlink to your content and youβre done). You donβt need special software or a special format to develop your training content.
Just click to group your Training Modules into Employee Roles. For instance a Finance Employee Role can group together Training Modules for accounts receivable, budget tracking, capital projects, etc. Any number of Training Modules can be grouped into each Employee Role β and any Training Module can be included in as many Employee Roles as desired. Then another click to attach Employee Roles to your People to automatically schedule all the associated Training Modules. A Person can have any number of assigned Employee Roles. For instance, the Finance Manager can have the Finance Role as well as Roles for Managing People, Corporate Policies, and Budget Reconciliation.
If you prefer, βQuick Loadβ the configuration settings from Excel tables to configure the entire system in a single step.
Use the LMS for all the Departments of your organization: Finance, Customer Service, Production, Logistics, Laboratory, Product Development β any Department that has training requirements can use the System.
The LMS sends emails 2 weeks before scheduled training is due and then a reminder each week until the Person completes their training. If a 3rd reminder needs to be sent out, the LMS copies the email to the Personβs supervisor to encourage compliance. (These email timings are fully configurable.)
Quizzes can display both text and images. And you can choose to have the Quizzes randomize the order of the questions and the order of each questionβs possible answers to ensure the Quiz is presented differently to each Person.
Adding new People or new Training Modules or transferring People between jobs or responsibilities? Just 1 click will βMass Schedule Trainingβ to update all training requirements. Then the LMS automatically sends out emails to everyone with new training requirements.
Built-in Reviewing capability ensures all People are assigned all the Roles and Modules they need to do their jobs.
Built-in Charts and Reports track compliance to training schedules and help plan the amount of time that will be devoted to training. Report by Person, by Department, or by Training Module. And the LMS can export the training data to Excel for any further custom analysis you want.
And the p
... keep reading on reddit β‘Currently, I can create a class and add students to it, as well as see all student, instructor and employee email addresses and student numbers. Since all I did to get this access was log in (as a student), I want to do something harmless but visible to embarrass the people responsible for creating a secure site.
Next week GVSU is hosting Canvas and Blackboard Ultra (the new version of Blackboard, not what we have today) student demonstrations and we are looking to get feedback from students. If you are interested in attending and providing feedback the links to the sessions are below. There will also be recordings of these sessions if you can't make it but are interested in helping shape the future of GVSU!
Please login with your GVSU credentials to see more details including dates/times of the demos.
Hey everyone.
I'm interested in creating a service of providing specialized video training courses to companies I'm contracted with, as a service, in order to create an easier way to train their employees both recurring (repeated) trainings as well as small trainings / updates on changes in the way the company works etc.
The idea is that we'll offer a number of standard training courses which will match most of the companies, but also some customized courses created for each individual company.
The courses would be in powerpoint-type format but mostly video, and an assessment would follow.
Additionally, the platform would need the feature of assigning mandatory courses to groups of personnel within each company but also set some courses are "recurrent", as in that their certificate expires each year and they need to be repeated in order to be kept up to date.
Does anyone know or could point to the direction of LMS systems that could handle such a thing?
Moodle or Open eDX for example?
Update 23/10/2020:
Adding Totara to the mix which supports multi-tenancy, certificates (i.e. courses that need to be recertified each year) and is also open source.
My Top 3:
I've always worked creating course in learning technologies and providing the solutions to clients to host on their LMS. But recently, some clients have started asking for solutions they can host on their learning platforms, such as Edcast or Degreed.
I feel like this could be the next big thing in elearninf - what do you all think? What do you think the benefits of a learning platform are over an LMS?
Just a thought. Probably a little too involved for some shops that might be smaller, but I haven't really used one of these platforms either.

Wassup esteemed colleages? Now that we've had a few months to completely prepare for the fall, with what I'm sure have been very clear instructions and expectations from admin, I'm wondering how we all feel about our LMS. My institution is in the process of selecting a new one, between Moodle, Canvas, D2L, and Blackboard. I have a lot of experience with Moodle, and just a tiny bit with Canvas and Blackboard. I figured some of the best advice to be had is obviously going to be right here in Reddit, just as with any other topic. Thanks for your thoughts!
