Absolutely incredible stuff here. I guess this shows how low our politics has sunk that the government benches are cheering an assault on the Leader of the Opposition.

Not only that, but people now think it's a good time to figuratively kick the Leader of the Opposition after the attack by going on to imply that he's a Nazi. Absolutely incredible stuff.

#Motion to Condemn the imprisonment of Turkish Opposition Leader
This House recognises:
Turkish Opposition Leader Canan Kaftiancoglu was recently imprisoned for ten years, on charges of insulting the President and spreading propaganda, on charges widely seen to be politically motivated.
Turkey, under President Erdogan, have moved towards an authoritarian illiberal and more theocratic regime, with significant stifling of opposition movements, including the Kurdish independence movement, sacking over 140,000 government officials on largely baseless accusations of plotting and using the High Election Board to annul opposition victories.
The Foreign Secretary did not answer a question put to him on this matter during his recent question time session due to other commitments.
This House therefore:
Condemns the imprisonment of Canan Kaftiancoglu.
Condemns the Turkish Government for crushing opposition dissent, and removing large amounts of freedom of the press.
Calls on the Foreign Secretary to inform his Turkish counterpart of this condemnation and call on the Turkish Government to end their authoritarian policies.
