I'm planning a nice birthday night out for my girlfriend's 30th and have everything nailed down but pre- drinks; I'm considering the King Cole Bar at the St. Regis Hotel but noticed the website mentions "Proper attire is required after 4 p.m." What exactly does this mean? We'll be dressed nice/well by most standards, but I'm unsure of the proper attire specifics.
For context, I've set up a Central Park carriage ride (we just moved to NYC), and a dinner at Flora Bar.
For the pre- drinks, I'm also considering the Aviary at the Mandarin Oriental, or the NoMad Hotel Bar.
