Ep 60: John Mack Comer is back to talk about his book, "The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry."

Who best to preach about leading less hurried lives than a couple who manufactures their "pressure" to keep up with social media and then whines about it–all while continually oversharing on social media?

Anyways, on this episode informercial*, they all address "HURRY, the enemy to our overall health that’s already trojan horsed its way into our lives."

When he's not preaching about marriage, Comer's preaching about finding "ways to slow down and find silence in our day-to-day." Because what better way to safeguard against potential economical downturns than to preach about everything in case something doesn't pan out? If you'd like to attend yet another episode therapy session*, read on...

(*I've seen it mentioned in previous recaps [and rightly so!] that these two do nothing but either promote other people's new shiny things on every episode OR turn each one into a marriage counseling session where they only validate all. the. unnecessary. work they put into their relationship. Sometimes both! So you'll start seeing these classifications more often from now on :).)

Master Guru Jer argues this book is VERY timely to our day and age and culture b/c we're OBVIOUSLY struggling w/being burned out and it's causing a LOT of damage. Okay.

JMC has been greatly influenced by a USC philosopher who wrote lots about being followers of Jesus. At some point he indirectly hears a story from him related to ruthlessly eliminating hurry and he realized that although his life seemed fantastic on the outside, all the symptoms he had been experiencing–exhaustion, burnout, stress, digital addiction, not becoming the "person of love," and father, husband, friend, or pastor that he wanted to be–were all part of this HURRY his mentor had alluded to years prior.

The Way

He argues that we must change the daily systems we're executing if we're not satisfied w/the results we're getting. [No, duh.] He then mentions that early Christians used to be called The Way, something we can tie to now if we want to consider that following Jesus is akin to following the Way to Life b/c it's a lifestyle.

In other words, we no longer look at people and consider them "the way" even when they're being good Christians, but perhaps we should. *[Here Jer had to interrupt to dumbly add that that way of looking at it is

Last year on r/movies I posted a year-end review of 700+ movies including my favourite movies I saw in 2020, you all responded positively to it, so let's do it again!

Here's last year's post

Same as last year, I'll post my top 5 (in no particular order) for each calendar month of 2020, varying from popular favourites to ones I feel like deserve way more attention in the general conversation.

Jan 2021

  • One, Two, Three (1961) - To me, Billy Wilder's movies are some of the most accessible movies anyone could watch from old classics, if you're looking to get into classic cinema, then he's one of the best places to start. I know a lot of people struggle with the pacing of movies from decades prior because of the different pacing, humour and acting. But One, Two, Three is such a consistently funny comedy with rapid fire dialogue that the runtime flies by. Not to mention, James Cagney is more than up for the task with his animated, live wire performance. Plus the satire is so razor sharp that it hasn't aged a day, a lot of the barbs at corporations and Cold War politics remain just as relevant today.

  • Dragged Across Concrete (2018) - By S. Craig Zahler's standards, this film went under the radar compared to his previous outings and I'm scratching my head a bit as to why that is, I guess maybe because it's his longest film so far, and the fact that people couldn't quite decide what Zahler's politics are from this film, he doesn't talk about his political views in public as far as I'm aware, so people extrapolated the film's intentions from the politics of the two lead actors, Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn. But to me, it's paced just as well as Bone Tomahawk, and Brawl in Cell Block 99. It builds flawlessly to a tense climax with satisfying payoffs and I'm pretty sure from the ending I know where Zahler's intentions lie. The stakes for each character involved in this whole mess is clearly defined and yet we root for them all even if it's a zero-sum game, I think Zahler did something very special here.

  • The Tenant (1976) - Polanksi's attention to detail and the craft is always so meticulous, he's just one of those directors that came fully formed out of the gate with Knife in the Water and The Tenant is another of Polanksi's great psychological horror films much like Rosemary's Baby, it feels very modern and it's gorgeously photographed by Sven Nykvist, Bergman's regular cinematographer. It taps into some deep-seated paranoia and makes us squirm and squeal (in a good way) and Polanksi is surpisingly effective as an

Who will be the next β€œJohn Williams” or β€œHans Zimmer”

Alright nerds listen up, most of us can agree that John Williams is the GOAT. Some people have different opinions but I feel like there’s a general consensus that John Williams is the best to ever do it. Now Hans Zimmer is probably easier to argue against but as far as his generation, I would say he’s probably the most accomplished. There are other names you could argue like James Newton Howard and Thomas Newman, but I would say Hans is definitely the most well know.

Now as far as this next generation, do we think there’s another one of those composers on the rise? A few newbies come to mind such as Nathaniel Blume, Sherri Chung, and Gordy Haab. What are some other up-and-comers? Please tell me because I would love to find some new composers.

Why Im Bullish

First of all, here is a link to the whitepaper: https://crypto.com/images/crypto_com_whitepaper.pdf If you have the patience to read the entire thing you can skip most of this post

Most of the data you could ever need to know is within the whitepaper. Therefore, I am going to focus on the things that many people seem to not know, and black and white comparisons to Crypto.com’s direct competitors. I’m writing this today for those readers that (like myself on occasion) would prefer to skim a reddit post than a 60-page white-paper.

Lets start with some gains porn and opinions before we get into the long-winded, boring, factual stuff. I first invested in CRO (late) on May 16th, 2021 with my initial investment at 34,175 CRO at around $0.15 per CRO, totalling $5,126.25. Today at $0.55 per CRO that investment is now worth $18,796.25 and at our ATH of $0.90 it was worth $30,757, or a 500% gain. I originally invested with the intention to stake a small amount for a CDC Visa Card, and forget about it, leaving it be for all eternity and a moon-shot opportunity. A brief glimpse at the whitepaper and 5k later, I set it and forget it except for the occasional top-up for my Netflix and Spotify payments. Six months later I check and see the gains. Now it's time to do some research and see what I missed. Which was a lot. Time to invest more.

My personal opinion is that Crypto.com is making all of the right moves to be a behemoth in the space. They fully developed their products and platforms, focusing heavily on safety and security before they began their heavy marketing crusade which is now underway. All thats left is capturing market-share and continued innovation.

CRO market cap currently sits around 14.07B as I type this. Our obvious current competitors are Coinbase (54.63B total company market cap- but doesn't have a native coin so we will ignore this for now) and Binance (BNB: 87.87B market cap, approx 6.25x CRO Market-cap). In my opinion, the only thing separating them from Binance is Binance’s 28.6 million users, versus their 10 million users. That gap will be rapidly closed with CDC’s massive marketing campaigns and accessibility to USA users.

Crypto.com makes clear from the start in their mission statement that their primary focus has been to accelerate the transition to adopting cryptocurrency, providing anonymity, security, and control of their money. In my opinion, they have been exceedingly true t

Retire, Bitch: u/yL4O's Anti-Belichick, Pro-Making Money Divisional Round Mailbag

Last week, me and my working fingers brought you a Wild Card Mailbag, replete with all the gimmicks and gags that drew some of you into the BS vortex to begin with. I'm grateful for the rave reviews I received from a lot of you, but more importantly, I'm grateful that we ended up on the plus side last week despite my stupid, stupid, stupid Steelers pick (more on that later). Now we're entering the Divisional Round, where Bill's most recent column covered the growing rift between Bill Belichick and Tom Brady back in early 2018 that Simmons took very seriously, giving full respect and credit to journalist Seth Wickersham for his reporting, which turned out to be accurate on almost every count.

Wait, no, just kidding, he lampooned Wickersham, and questioned most of his claims, for eight paragraphs. And then the Pats blew the Super Bowl (to Nick Foles, whom Bill refers to in this article as "Farson Wentz," because he's a farcical Carson Wentz, great joke)...and then Brady and Belichick rode a Dee Ford netural zone infraction to the Super Bowl...and then Brady threw a pick-6 (on his last pass as a Patriot) to the nobody-believes-in-us Titans...and then Brady won a much less fluky title with the Bucs last season. Oh, and, once again, Wickersham nailed the piece and Bill decided to johnny-come-lately it and pretend like he had always accepted Wickersham's version of events. Not true. The internet is forever, Billy boy.

I spend this time dragging Simmons a bit because that seems to be exactly what you heathens want. Earlier this week I opened up my DMs to you, the r/billsimmons faithful, to share your own mailbag questions. I'm going to keep your identities secret (names and towns below will be fake; questions will be real), but it's probably no secret to you that the primary topic of conversation was laughing at those same Patriots whom Wickersham reported on those four short years ago.

I heard all week about Belichick's genius defensive gameplan being the x factor in Pats/Bills. Then the Bills offense took the field.

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Kickoff with Grayson Waller who cuts off the intro and says you see the greats in the opening but you don't see Tomaso Ciampa among them because he's larger than life. He says the fans boo everyone who becomes a star like John Cena, The Rock, and Roman Reigns and they all are killing it now just like he will be. He says he isn't listening to people with 80,000 tweets and 3 followers who are saying he's nothing, he knows he's a superstar.

  • LA Knight is interviewed, he says he didn't go out and cost Grayson Waller the match because he'd do that on his own, and that's a fact of life. Joe Gacy comes by and says his facts are harmful and they should be building each other up not tearing each other down and says he has a safe space out there if he wants to work through this. Knight says he'll meet him in the ring and he won't be bringing and micro aggressions, just ruthless aggression.

  • Toxic Attraction are shown arriving to the arena. Mandy Rose says Cora Jade doesn't even belong in the ring and she's just a poser. They're walking by as Dakota joins them. They see a bunch of junk destroyed and wonder who smashed it up and walk off as Kay Lee Ray smashes more of the junk after they pass.

  • A Crestfallen Cameron Grimes comes down to the ring. He says he grew up in a very small town in North Carolina, and every day he'd have people push him down and tell him he's not good enough. But he showed them he was good enough, it didn't matter how much he scratched and clawed, how many concrete floors he slept on, or how many times he scrounged for change, he proved that Cameron Grimes holds it down. Through it all he kept his beard to remind him where he came from and to remember when he was the only one he could rely on. Duke Hudson took that from him, and demands Duke comes to the ring. Album Of The Year #26: Young Nudy - Rich Shooter

Artist: Young Nudy | Album: Rich Shooter

Listen: Spotify | YouTube | Apple Music | SoundCloud

Background by /u/doop_64

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Young Nudy delivers another vibrant and innovative project infused with the ruthless aura of the Zone 6 streets and Nudy’s own devilish personality. He demonstrates a unique ability to convey cold and unforgiving tales of the street with a deadpan sense of humor. Such attributes describe the bulk of Nudy’s extensive discography. To date, the 28-year-old rapper has released a handful of singles, several mixtapes, four albums, including his latest release, Rich Shooter, and boasts a collection of guest features with big name artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, J. Cole, Playboi Carti, and cousin, 21 Savage.

Rich Shooter, the second of two albums dropped by Young Nudy in 2021, is a testament to his constant pursuit to expand and refine his sound, while staying true to himself and his native land of Zone 6. The album is produced in part by Young Nudy’s main confidants, COUPE and 20Rocket, who create a sonic backdrop that consistently compliments Nudy, but provide a collection of beats that are varied and sound fresh to the ears of listeners. The album also features five songs with longtime friend and collaborator, Pi’erre Bourne. This comes as a welcome addition for Nudy fans who have been yearning for more music between the two after their stellar collaboration album, Sli’merre in 2019. Most notably, Pi’erre produces the two opening tracks, β€œKeep It In The Street” and β€œOld School”. Producers Mojo Krazy, 44wxrld, Mahd McLaren, Humblebee, jetsonmade, TheLoudPack, and Jake One also make contributions to the album.

Review by /u/doop_64

Young Nudy cannot be confused for another rapper. His lyrics seem to come pouring out of him, flowing out in patterns that weave themselves in between hi-hats and snares and nestle themselves on top of billowing melodies, delivering a mesmerizing effect of head bobbing. Besides delivery, he separates himself w

THANK YOU TNA/IMPACT WRESTLING FOR UTILIZING SUPERSTARS THAT WWE COULDN'T πŸ™

1- Jeff Hardy, is former 6 time world champion, 3 in wwe and 3 in tna but his 1 TNA championship reign is longer than all 3 of his wwe world title reigns. TNA made him a real main eventer, giving him 310 day reign in total with his 3rd one being his best. He held the title for 133 day and went on defend his title against all comers such as Kurt angle, Christopher daniel, Roode and bully ray. This was what fans wanted to see, him having a lengthy reign and not losing it in 42 days in favor of having a bro vs bro feud that nobody gave a damn about.

2- Matt hardy, former 2 time TNA world champ, Matt is a genius, someone who used the world title as a stepping stone to his brilliant broken gimmick. They gave him freedom and he proved that he is way better than what everyone thought. Carried tna in his back (2015-2017) and became the hottest thing in wrestling at the time.

3- John Morrison, Johnny Impact proved himself that he is a main event player in lucha underground and AAA and when Impact wrestling trusted him with their world title, he didnt dissapoint.

4- Christian, TNA took a chance at him in 2005 and Christian delivered. Not to mention he held their world title again recently and did his best in 70 days, giving good promos with great matches.

5- Bully ray, that title made the guy look like billion bucks.

6- Lashley, his career in TNA is one of the best. Was unstoppable and dominant world champ, winning the title 4 times. This lashley would eat wwe lashley in dinner.
