I just caught the WWHL replay and I finally agree with what everyone is saying: he seems to really dislike her. The “WOW” when she took her shot was a clear and ridiculous double standard. She even sent his son a little throne!!!

Context for non-Washington fans:
No surprise for any of Huskies, she's been the interim AD since Scott Woodward left for Texas A&M. Previously our senior associate athletic director, she's not a big name but has been a pretty integral part in getting Petersen to come to Washington and getting the funds to upgrade many of our facilities including Husky Stadium.
For now, I'm feeling cautiously good about this hire, she seems passionate about Washington and continuing our programs trajectory.
Washington now has a female president and AD.
But I feel that would just be a big step backwards..
I have to vent. My friend and I go to this gym and really love it. Most people are very considerate, wear their masks, keep to themselves and are thoughtful of others’ space and time on weights/machines. But every now and then there’s some absolute douche lord who either keeps their mask below their chin or, in todays case, in their pocket (while blaring music without headphones).
My friend and I workout together and also happen to be in healthcare. She works with ecmo pts in the ICU (many w/ Covid) and I have worked with Covid pts and in palliative/end-of-life care, both while juggling grad school. We’ve each seen a LOT of people die, and have most recently been dealing with staffing shortages and high patient loads with v acute pts as a result of the omicron surge. To say we’re burnt out is…a bit of an understatement. But so is everyone in healthcare right now. And everyone in general! We get that. (I also happen to be on a rotation working with highly immunocompromised oncology pts and am trying to be safe while working out in an N95 at all times.)
Anyhow…my friend asks the guy to put in some headphones and to please wear his mask. He says no headphones but wears the mask. For two minutes. Then it’s back in his pocket it goes. I then go talk to one of the front desk people, bc in my experience dudes at the gym don’t listen to women smaller than they are. Nobody comes. Then my friend talks to the manager and finally two people (a man and woman) go over and talk to him. They’re there for a while and he’s clearly talking back, so I go over bc I’ve had it. I am speaking calmly but confidently and he asks why I am “coming over there like I have any authority,” likely because he’s not used to a woman speaking to him this way (there’s a vibe these types of guys put off and he had it). He says “how am I supposed to drink water with my mask on?” Oy vey, dude. I think you can figure it out.
We finally disperse but my friend and I are so pissed it came to this that we leave. On the way out, I thank the man and woman who went to speak to him. The woman tells me she’s actually the most senior manager there, but always brings one of her male employees with her because guys at the gym never listen to her (she’s also very petite). It’s SO annoying this is even an issue!!!
