KTC is known to be very reactionary game to game, and it seems like Lambs poor showing against the 49ers has spooked owners.
He fell from the WR3 to the WR8 overnight, and now sits behind Waddle, Hill, and AJB.
Thoughts?
I currently own more Lamb shares than Waddle, but I would like to hear the rest of the communities thoughts on this. They are both looking like great dynasty assets. The one knock that Waddle had midway through this season was his QB situation, but Tua has been consistently playing better. In my opinion Waddle seems like he’s going to be the biggest offensive threat on an average team, while Lamb will be a part of a great offense, but might not have as many great games.
He also reached 1000 receiving yards on the season today in addition to setting the rookie record for receptions. Pretty cool.

A few weeks ago it seemed almost like a lock for Mac Jones but he has kind of fallen off since then. Meanwhile Waddle is on pace to break the record for most receptions for a rookie and finish top 5 or top 10 in recieving yards.
And that is with 2 different QBs and missing a game. Do you think he has a strong case for OROY?
How many truly elite, superstar-level skill players have we had this century? Ricky and... is that it? Waddle looks like he will be one, barring injuries...
Additional thought #1: should Waddle break some Dolphins/NFL rookie records, he will have done it in 16 games, not 17, because of COVID.
Additional thought #2: no one around here is still saying “we shouldn’t have traded 2 1st round picks for a slot receiver”...

For the first time this season the Dolphins actually aired it out to him and it did wonders. In my eyes he’s the clear WR2 from the 2021 draft and has WR1 potential for the foreseeable future. How we feeling Waddle owners?
Taking a look at the four weeks that Tua has been healthy (ignoring this prior week, as Tua and Jacoby split time) Jaylen Waddle averages 16.95 PPR fantasy points - placing him as the WR 15 overall. This figure is also brought down by Waddle’s performance against a stingy Buffalo defense, where he only managed 6.9 fantasy points despite getting 11 targets.
In other words, Tua loves Waddle and the numbers support this. Waddle has been a good fantasy option but has been overshadowed by fellow rookies named Jamarr Chase and Devonta Smith due to his recent success. With Devonte Parker on IR and Will Fuller being Will Fuller, I expect Tua and Waddle’s chemistry to only improve as the season progresses.
That said, I’m no fantasy expert. Curious to hear your opinions on this.
Jaylen Waddle has a good shot of being an elite fantasy WR down the stretch and someone who could be drafted in the first 3-4 rounds of redraft next year.
Why?
- Alpha receiver status. Waddle is the unquestioned number 1 wide receiver on his team. With Parker on IR, he now shares the bulk of the receiving work in Miami with Mike Gesicki and the running backs. Waddle has already been thought of as the top receiver this year by the coaching staff and has played 82.8% of team snaps in 2021, right behind Nuk Hopkins, Ceedee Lamb and Deebo Samuel. That kind of playing time shows a lot.
- Target hog. He is a target machine and currently 11th in the NFL in targets, ahead of Stefon Diggs and Justin Jefferson. It can sometimes be hard to predict how targets will be split amongst receivers, but not in Miami now. Just like with Michael Pittman on the Colts, the top receiver has a great chance to break out and we shouldn't over-complicate the situation. Vegas agrees - they have him at 5.5 catches this week, tied with AJ Brown, Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase.
- Pass-happy offense. Tua will be throwing... a lot. Miami's defense isn't scary this year and their offense is not running through the ground game as it had last year when Tua took over. Tua has thrown 39, 40 and 47 passes over his past three games in an offense throwing the ball to stay in games. He will put up decent yardage and do everything he can to show the league why he was drafted so high. Side note, I don't take a lot of stock into the Bama connection but that's there too.
- Talent. This one is straightforward, Waddle is a beast. He looks to be getting much more comfortable in the system and has flashed his physical dominance with elite speed, quickness and hands. He is winning battles on the outside and over the middle of the field. Stud rookie receivers often gain confidence and turn it on over the second half of the year, and there was a reason this guy was the 6th overall pick.
- Draft capital in the trade-up. This one is a bit more narrative driven, but the Dolphins spent their first round pick for 2022 to go up and get this guy. The team now understands the implications of that decision because a top 10 pick for the Eagles might haunt them for years if the birds hit on their franchise guy. Management is absolutely whispering in Flores' ear to help make the decision not look as bad as it does now.
