1979 was only the second time FSU finished ranked in the AP Poll (they finished 14th in 1977) and arguably the season FSU first broke into the national conscience in earnest. FSU would finish 5th next season and would be no stranger to the AP Poll from that season forward.

Corpse Reviver #2
I chose this for FSU because the program used to be a perennial contender, and now they are looking a little more like a corpse that could use some reviving. Maybe Willie Taggart can revive this corpse for a 2nd time after the Bowden era.
Ingredients:
- 0.75 oz Gin
- 0.75 oz Lemon juice (hand juice if possible)
- 0.75 oz Cointreau
- 0.75 oz Lillet or Cocci Americano
- Pernod/Absinthe wash
Notes:
- If making it for one or two people highly recommend cutting and hand juicing citrus on the spot. If you're going to be making a lot of these then store bought juice will be fine.
- Cointreau is NOT the same thing as Triple Sec, Grand Mariner, or Dry Curacao unless you're tailgating away from your home bar.
Preparation:
Pour a little bit of the Pernod into a coupe, roll it around until it coats the walls of the glass. When done dump or preferably drink.
Combine all ingredients into a shaker with some ice cubes, shake for about 8 seconds and double strain (hawthorne strainer + fine mesh strainer) into a coupe and serve up. Garnish with lemon peel.
Taste:
Tart, clean and very lightly sweetened. The Pernod wash adds a little bit of depth as well.
History:
This is historic, class drink from 1930s recipe book, The Savoy Cocktail Book, (which is a beautiful book/great coffee table book if you're interested), published by Harry Craddock. Craddock is one of the godfathers of cocktails mostly because he was one of the first people to methodically document and collect recipes. The original Savoy Cocktail Book included 750 cocktail recipes.
