Now that the football season is over, I was reading peer reviewed DNA research papers and came upon a couple that suggest that the original DNA for the bullet fragment (DNA item FL) and the hood latch (DNA item ID), had to be much, much higher than the values recovered after 120 and 150 days, respectively.
- The paper estimates that under favorable conditions, only 7.1% of the original DNA would be recoverable after 120 days, and only 3.7% after 150 days.
- The original DNA on the bullet fragment (FL) would have to be 14 times higher than that recovered by Sherry Culhane.
- The original DNA transfer to the hood latch by "brief contact" would have to be 27 times higher than that recovered by Sherry Culhane.
- Under less favorable conditions, the paper estimates these factors would be 512X and 2,441X, respectively.
Here are the reference links for those who want to check my math. Please let me know if anything is wrong. ETA: I've found two other sources that corroborate the findings of Taylor, another excerpt from the Raymond paper, and a paper by Alketbi, 2018 analyzing the data of Bille, et al, 2009.

Among other things, Taylor analyzed the data of Raymond, et al, 2009, and developed exponential models for DNA decomposition, both indoors and outdoors (see Figure 3, below). This could be pertinent to both the magic bullet (roughly 120 days old) and the hood latch (roughly 150 days old). His formulas predict under favourable conditions that only 7.1% of the original DNA would be available after 120 days, and only 3.7% after 150 days.

On another note, what are your thoughts on the ram rider? Is she too strong, weak, or balanced enough?
So I went to the Flames vs. Ducks game last night, and as a Ducks fan born and raised in Calgary you can imagine how much shit I get from my friends. Flames won 2-1, and after the game we went to the bar/club that’s right by the stadium. At around midnight, a bunch of the flames come in and cordon off a section of one of the bars. Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Lindholm, a few 3/4 line guys and James Neal were there having a few drinks to celebrate the win. Neal already had a nice shiny new set of chompers, and he’s still listed as week to week lmao.
We weren’t allowed pictures which is fair, and to their credit they weren’t acting like big shots, creating a scene or anything. They bought me and my buddies a few drinks, and we acknowledged their season. It was cool I guess!
TL;DR - James Neal, fresh off of losing a bunch of teeth due to a high stick, was out partying with the Flames after a win last night.
