I know this isn’t necessarily a hot take, but I’ve finally been able to put into words why I believe James Charles is being insincere and just looking for a scapegoat to his gross actions. If you look at the way James talks to all the CHILDREN he’s been in contact with, which is much more than two, he’s clearly trying to get sexual pleasure, not a relationship like he claims. Anyone who is trying to get into the dating pool doesn’t talk like that right off the bat. He’s clearly in search of individuals who he sees as vulnerable and can take advantage of. Very on brand for a child predator/groomer. This is exactly how it goes. My guess is that he hasn’t realized it yet And is just rationalizing his actions so he doesn’t have to confront how gross he is. Hopefully he’ll have a chance to think about it from his jail cell, bc that’s where he should go.

TW: child pr*dators
i just recently finished a research paper on child sexual offenders and, with peace and love, some of it really parallels w james’ situation. for example, recidivism among child sex offenders is generally more common than adults who offend against other adults. this is essentially because child offenders dont see the issue with adult- child relationships. this is somewhat evident w his “apology” where he says he’s “desperate,” when in actuality he just likes children, allegedly. hence, why he keeps messaging young boys. ethan made this point but i think it is important and interesting how james aligns w common thought processes of child predators (allegedly). additionally, child predators fall into different typologies. one of them being “regressed” where predators seek victims to make up for their sexual inadequacy. again, i think this can be seen in james' choice of the word "desperate." all alleged ofc

I just wanted to highlight the reporting from Smokey Glow on the David Dobrik, James Charles situation, and the larger conversation around power dynamics on YouTube.
Hannah does an incredible job of articulating the nuances of these situations, the context in which they occurred, and exactly why they are so fucked up and dangerous. I think she is the only YouTuber I’ve seen (no hate to anyone who has reported on this - Hannah is a children’s social worker so really understands this topic in depth) who explores and nails every important aspect of this conversation. If you’ve been waiting for a D’Angelo video on this situation, I think this is your answer. (Also I hope Trisha and Ethan see her videos as well, Hannah does an incredible job of educating around this subject that I think everyone should watch these.)

My birth plan was very simple, as I'm pretty chill and like to just go with the flow. I requested intermittent monitoring, no episiotomy, free movement, to discuss all procedures with me 1st, and pain meds only upon request. I also mentioned in it that I don't handle cervical checks well and have a history of being raped.

Water broke in my sleep and I was not in labor. Had an OB appt at 830 am. Had NST done. She did a direct admit for me in to the hospital to be induced. I was at 1 cm and 70% - which is exactly where I was 2 week prior. I went home got a few things taken care of. DH and I went out for our "last meal" before going to the hospital. We got there at 3:15ish.
4 pm - Foley Cath. and Prepidil given. Contractions were fine, a little painful but not intolerable at all.
330 am - Foley Cath. came out. I was 6 cm, 90%, -1 station. All hell broke lose in my vagina. Contractions went from a 4 to a 8 on the pain scale. They were 5 minutes apart and lasted 45-60 seconds. My BP went up to 150/100 (normally and through the pregnancy - 110/60). I never left the bed after this.
4 am - I requested IV pain meds. The nurse noticed the baby was having some occasional decelerations after the height on my contractions and wanted to push fluid to see if that would help before giving me narcotics, which can make decels worse.
5 am - Still no pain meds. Contractions were now every 3 minutes and lasting 60 seconds. Pain was a 9. Blood pressure was now up to 165/120. I requested the epidural. I have issues with needles and the idea of a needle in my back was horrifying. I no longer cared. The nurse called the anesthesiologist in. He did it and left. After 10 more minutes, there was no relief from the pain.
630 am - Nurse anesthetist comes in to try to move epidural tube to see if that helps. It didn't. PCA is doing NOTHING.
700 am - Shift change! New nurse, new OB (dr's office is so large they do on call shifts at the hospital). I AGAIN request they redo my epidural (It's now been 3 hours since I 1st requested pain relief). This nurse starts to call the anesthesiology dept and the new doctor walks in.
She has seen the decels on the monitor and immediately decided that she wanted internal contraction monitoring. I flat out said "I don't want that". A contraction started and my DH requested that they get the epidural fixed 1st. I was unable to talk. The contractions picked up to every 2 minutes lasting 1 minute. She did a cervical check on me (8 cm,
