A list of puns related to "Jacob Jacobs (theater)"
New moon is one of my favorite books but least favorite movie because of things like this
First, they are obviously both the kind of person who stays to the bitter end of a terrible movie in a theater or the last out in a blowout ballgame, refusing to head home early. Because they are apparently sticking this show out till the very end, having the same versions of the same arguments, even though their relationship hasn't shown signs of life for several episodes now.
They're both talented in making a different half of the reddit population hate them. It's not that simple, of course, but they both engender strong and polarizing feelings among the commenting rabble (I would say I am more irritated more often by Jake, but also occasionally find Haley's inability to even pretend to care just astounding).
They both embody certain gender stereotypes. Haley is the ice queen, casting away the pre-wedding gift with great velocity, "forgetting" to include him when girls night turns into couples night, etc. Jake is the fake nice guy, quite a catch until he feels an ounce of rejection and his insecurities start to take over and he directs every conversation toward a referendum on whether she's into him or not, and if not, why not.
They both subvert other stereotypes. Jake is a geek, but with muscles! He's got niche interests, but instead of it being a film genre or D+D or something with at least some cohesion, it's an entire decade! Haley is kind of a preppy or sorority type, but more dour than most. She's kind of a Karen, but maybe not? Stylish, but not quite a fashionista.
They're also great at being terrible in their own relationship and showing the viewing audience what not to do. If it's not him stonewalling and smirking , it's her invalidating and stone-facing. If it's not him jumping to conclusions and making accusations and price-checking the bracelet, it's her bitching about her soon-to-be-former-husband to her mom with cameras rolling.
It has a certain terrible frustration rhythm, all of it. In one area where one of the two is maybe a halfway decent partner, the other one is there to completely negate that strength.
The experts got it right, my friends. It's a match made in hell.
Obviously playing through LE is bringing all this stuff back up again. But Ashley's reputation as an evil racist seems to still be a very common narrative with Mass Effect fans. Most of it is rooted in two conversations but Ashley makes it very clear it won't interfere with her duties and she's generally pretty sympathetic to the aliens on the Normandy crew. Mostly Tali and even Liara to an extent. I also don't disagree with her assessment that the Council would abandon them when the going got tough and you literally can't disagree with that because that's precisely what happened in Mass Effect 2.
So Cerberus is an actual human supremacist organization that does cruel experiments on people and believes in human dominance. Miranda and Jacob were with Cerberus before Shepard was and most people follow Shepard because he agrees to help them with something or another. Garrus and Tali are friends of Shepard and join to follow him but neither of them like Cerberus. Miranda and Jacob are believers in their cause (for most of the game) so why do the racist accusations never get pointed towards them? Maybe because their story arcs have very little to do with that aspect of their character and Ashley's does?
I don't even think I need to bring up how Mordin gets a pass for elongating the Krogan genocide.
His ERA+ now sits at 624 on the season.
He moves into 4th all time in Mets history for strikeouts, and has thrown his 50th career double-digit K game (10 away from Seaverβs club record).
He is the first pitcher in Major League history to allow 1 or fewer earned runs in each of their first 9 starts of a season. Heβs allowed 4 earned runs in his 58IP this season (and just 8 walks to his 93 Ks).
He also threw double digit pitches at or above 101mph tonight. Itβs the 4th time that has happened since pitch tracking began in β08; itβs the 2nd time deGrom has done it - now in back to back starts.
Unfortunately he went 0-for-3 at the plate and his batting average has fallen under .400 (.391/.391/.435)
1-1 at the plate with an RBI
Ehire Adrianza tripled, batted in by Ozzie Albies single, then Austin Riley 2-run homerun.
