I read this several years ago but I can't recall the year. It has probably been 6-7 years. I found it at a thrift store. It was a black hard cover book. If it had an outer sleeve then it was missing.
I remember there being a divorced female librarian (I believe it is at a college) who has a desire to have sex the guy in the title, she succeeds and if I remember correctly they see each other several times until the guy's urges get the best of him and he tries killing her after finding the knife. Her policeman neighbor saves her just in time.
She and her ex had a child together before the divorce (don't recall the sex of this child). Shared custody if I remember correctly. At some point in the book, the child is kidnapped(?) into some land of shadow and darkness and the dad somehow gets into the world and tries to rescue the child. I don't recall if the mother was kidnapped as well.
So anyways, the guy gets in and finds a strange figure that gives him clues on how to rescue them. At the end he succeeds.
Sorry, that's the main points that I remember. Quite a bit of it is quite foggy.

I honestly feel that both the Gods and Humans going on about how “evil” he is, feels overblown, whilst saying he killed “5”
Given how much they changed the pasts of other characters from their original counterparts, why not instead have gone that he killed hundreds and left messages taunting those hounding him?
