A list of puns related to "Jack Ryan (designer)"
Am I the only one who'd love to see that happen? I'm not really sure about the story of the movie coming up, but the thought of him playing Handsome Jack just seemed awesome. Anyone agree?
Love Jack Ryan series. I really want to dive into the genre. Are there any awesome recommendations folks can give me for my vacation to read?
Thanks!

Hello everyone! I have read a few Tom Clancy novels when I was a teenager, namely Without Remorse which I read three times and was my favourite book for years and years, as well as Patriot Games and The Hunt for Red October.
I was randomly gifted Firing Point this year for Xmas and figured, fuck it, I enjoyed the Ryanverse novels that Iβve read, I might as well try this out even if itβs not actually Clancy.
I just started Firing Point today and noticed that the book states Jack Jr. graduated Georgetown 7 years prior, marking him to be around 29-30, and this book takes place sometime after 2017. But, I swear Jack Jr. was a young child in the novels set in the 80s so he should be over 40 in Firing Point.
Is it just accepted that the timeline is irrelevant, and messed up? Or am I misremembering Jack Jr in the early novels?
I was re-watching The Hunt for Red October (free on YouTube) and wanted to share my controversial opinion. Ryan should have let the USS Dallas attack the Red October while the Dallas remained undetected rather than press the Dallas to initiate contact with Ramius on the Red October.
Ryan (correctly) believed that Ramius was going to defect. But even Ryan would have to admit he wasn't 100% certain. Think about the probability of being correct/incorrect weighted by the consequences:
95% probability (Ramius is defecting) * Benefit (major intelligence coup) = "Good" outcome with high probability
5% probability (Ramius is a madman) * Downside (nuclear Armageddon) = Worst outcome in human history "might" happen, albeit unlikely
Better to play it safe and hit the Red October while you've got a clear shot.
