It wasn’t a cop show, but kinda similar. They were both sort of benevolent criminals. Con artists.
The title describes most that I remember. I remember the girl was a brunette but not sure. She almost looked Spanish or Italian.
The intro was quite catchy (synth music). I can try to upload if all else fails.
The chess episode I believe was some kind of a bet that they’d draw with a strong chess master. There must’ve been some monetary reward. They were both playing separately but secretly relaying the moves so effectively it was the two chess masters playing each other. After the game they collected the reward and left.
