A list of puns related to "Hot spare"
How do you set up a hot spare?
Per QLab manual: "You might have your Backup computer hooked up to your playback system, with a system in place to seamlessly switch over from the Main (this is often called a βhot spareβ or βhot backupβ)
Thanks
You read the title.
When was the last time a can of tyre-weld actually worked? Even a space-saver is better than that.
The only issues are
I know space-savers work for at least a little while (as long as you don't drive too quickly), but I like the peace of mind knowing I have a proper spare wheel in case I get a flat.
EDIT: Thanks for all the upvotes and the comments, it's been quite interesting reading them. And it's spare wheels, not square.
For some added context, I live in the UK where 'smart' motorways are becoming a thing. If you don't know what that means, it means that the hard shoulder becomes another lane for traffic.
This means if you break down, you have to get your car over to a place to stop, and if you have a flat, that's quite hard.
This also means you're sitting in the middle of a lane, so trying to get a can of tyre-weld into your tyres with the possibility of a massive lorry running you over, which doesn't exactly seem fun to me.
I recently got a Synology DS1621+ with several drives. I have SHR with redundancy set up, but I have much more disk space than I currently need. I could easily disable a drive and still have the space I need.
Does it make a significant difference to the HDD life whether I use the disks in my SHR volume vs. leaving it as a hot spare, or even uninitialized?
I am seeking to get the Kakashi hoodie they have and only have 1 code this time around, so getting another one to cut its price in half would be awesome and appreciated.
If codes still have multiple uses I will gladly share the one I have afterwards my initial use.
Original post https://www.reddit.com/r/openzfs/comments/poiyqp/help_undo_resilvering_hot_spares/ that no body has replied too and still needs to be figured out
So I need help undoing what are HA system did to the zfs pool. There is a service zfs-zed that tries to replace failed disks with available hot spares. Well due to a problem with the HA system when a hot spare gets used to replace a disk it tells the system to reboot which cause the zfs system to hang and thinks the new spare disk is bad and grabs another. well I replaced 3 disk in this array and now I have all 4 spares trying to resilver to the new disks I just put in to replace dead disks with.
I am not to sure what commands I need to run to undo this resilvering and have it actually resilver the new disks I just put in.
The server is centos 7 with
zfs-0.8.4-1
zfs-kmod-0.8.4-1
I have turned off the zfs-zed.service so there is no changes going on right now. It has been a few days and the disks have finished resilvering so now I just need to undo all this hot spare nonsense
below is the zpool status currently
pool: tank
state: DEGRADED
status: One or more devices are faulted in response to persistent errors.
Sufficient replicas exist for the pool to continue functioning in a

action: Replace the faulted device, or use 'zpool clear' to mark the device
repaired.

I'm quite possibly missing something obvious here, but if I assign C as the hot spare, why did I replace the bad drive A with D ??? Where did D come from?
I'm really sorry that I'm posting this in this subreddit and I know that I really shouldn't, but does anyone have a spare 1:64 Hot Wheels Cybertruck (not opened and sealed) they'll be willing to sell? I would need it to be shipped to Austria in the EU. And I would give the chosen one a little bonus for their efforts.
