A list of puns related to "Horrible Histories (book series)"
Okay, so this book is uncannily similar to a Horrible Histories book in writing style and illustrations, and I'm 95% sure that this book is under their label (I remember searching its name almost 3 years ago, and it was defo associated with HH). The genre is most probably Horror, but it was definitely for kids in the age range of (9-12). It was sort of a rundown (?) of historical literary and Pop horrors with really witty and funny commentary- Vampires, the Inquisition, the Human Centipede, the White worm, pulp fiction, H.P. Lovecraft (my first introduction to him!). It was an amazing book, and I've tried my hardest to find it again, and I'll be very very grateful to anybody who could help me.
I am interested in history and have read a couple of history books. However I loved this series as a kid and I want to read something that combines knowledge and humour together like that, aimed at adults! I know I can read the og books again but I have already done that. Thanks!
I apologize if this isn't the correct place to ask, but I figured this would be a good place to start. I found the books fascinating as a kid, I've kept two through college somehow and I'll give them a read every now and then.
Are there any books that are similar, but aren't necessarily written for kids? I was hoping "A People's History of the USA" would be similar, but it's very different, albeit an interesting read.
Spending the day at a farm house right outside of Winnipeg would've sounded just okay to me on any regular day. But I was in a future timeline, there was a secret lab in the basement, and some secret agents were around⦠so it was interesting. However, a bunch of weird creatures were roaming around all over the place, so it's also scary.
I was glad there at least weren't very many huge creatures around the property of the farm house. It was only the Quads in terms of huge creatures. In terms of small creatures, however... There's a couple. There are these things called Sand Rovers. They mostly hang out under sand or gravel. You can't touch them with your hand or else they fuse themselves into it. You could kick them without any repercussions though. I watched them out the window all day. They tried to move around under the gravel. It was weirdly oddly satisfying to some extent. Arilyn told me Agent Edwards and Agent Daniels liked to kick them. Not to death though, since there was a theory going around that since Nnotz is inside the minds of billions of people, he may be allowing telepathic sympathy between humans and his own creatures. Killing these creatures would therefore get you in trouble with all the Mex Kala Cults in your area⦠so the theory goes.
In the afternoon, Arilyn brought me downstairs to the basement to give me some questions, as part of her experiment. All I hoped was that this experiment stayed within ethical lines the entire way through.
"Do you feel different in any way after traveling to 2071, back to 2022, then back to 2071?"
"No. Physically, I feel the same as usual. I felt the same as usual during those trips."
"Do you have any fears related to time jumping?"
"No, but there's the idea that I could be turned to mush or incinerated during a time jump."
"Does being in 2071 mean anything for synesthesia - the overlapping of two ideas in the brain?"
"No, I can't feel the vibe of April 2071 or 2071 at all. Maybe it'll take a couple more days."
"Do you have any questions for yourself?"
"What happens that makes time travel work? Ethically you have to answer this."
"We don't have a full grasp yet due to the theory we may actually be jumping to alternate realities rather than traveling through time. Of cours
... keep reading on reddit β‘I'm normally not one for venting my frustration online, but yesterday's broadcasting was the so called last straw that broke the camel's back. We've already had plenty of races where the tv director decided to show a replay of the crowd during a live overtake on the track or showing a non-important pitstop of a Haas / Williams.
And yesterday during they did it again during the Perez / Ocon fight which was important for eventually the 3rd place spot.
Desperately showing us that they have proof that there is a crowd present in Qatar. I don't care about the crowd's reaction. I care about the live action on track. Show the crowd to us during a (V)SC or when there is literally no action on track at all.
Same goes for the replays of the starts. Why are getting a 2 minute replay of key moments of the start on LAP 2? I mean, all the drivers are still so close to each other fighting for positions and taking risks, side by sides actions etc to potentially get a better position for the rest of the race.
I really hope the directing improves next year when we are getting closer and more battles and overtakes. I understand the crowd's reaction is a part of the sport, any sport, but the main attraction should always be the action on track.

18 LANCE STROLL
When I was a kid in the 90s I absolutely loved the Horrible Histories books but by the time the live action tv programme came around in 2010 I never really watched it.
Since the UK entered another lockdown in January Iβve been working from home and helping with homeschooling my 7 year old son. During my morning breaks from work we would watch Horrible Histories and it is genuinely a brilliant tv programme. He absolutely loves it and will always ask to watch it. Itβs an anarchic sketch show, since itβs aimed at kids donβt expect in depth commentary and analysis but it really presents the facts so well. And trust me, there is enough to keep adults entertained. My son will regurgitate historical facts if we mention something or someone he saw on it.
There are some amazing parody songs as well. The ones that stick in mind are Stevenson, Brunel, Ford and the Wright Brothers singing about their improvements to transport to the tune of Grease Lightning; Crassus rapping about how rich he is (my sonβs favourite) to the tune of Dizzee Rascalβs Bonkers; the Luddites 70s punk song; Jenner, Pasteur and Fleming singing about vaccinations to the tune of Good Vibrations. The monarch song is a work of art.
It is British made so there is some pop culture references that might not travel well (eg Dizzee Rascal) but if youβre trying to get a younger person interested in history then this is a great place to start. Iβm a teacher and the history and English departments regularly use it clips and songs from it. Itβs all free to view on the BBC iPlayer.
Series 1-5 are brilliant, itβs the same ensemble cast. Quality does drop slightly after this as there is a new cast.
About 5 years ago I had a 10k credit card that I was dumb enough not to pay off for three years. Fast forward 6 years and my credit score took a real beating however Iβm debt free. I now work in the mines but and have a secure and solid work history for 2 years+. Do I have to wait the whole seven years for my credit score to clear or is it even possible to get a home loan with 70k as an upfront payment but horrible credit rating.
Thanks
I'm a massive fantasy reader and WOT ticks all my boxes. I love the characters and the world. But I just can't. I've never made it past book 8, even tried the audio books. I've tried skimming and chapter summaries. I know how it ends and it sounds amazing. I want to get there so badly...
But I can't get past the slog. From about the 3rd book a pattern develops where the first 1/3 of the book is a recap /rehash, middle 1/3 is a very slow build up, and then the final 1/3 is bloody amazing. I cannot slog through 2/3 of a 1000 page book to get to the good part, and I especially cannot do it for multiple books....
I was about 200 pages into book 7... and then decided to read Salem's Lot instead. Loved it from start to finish. No slog. Life's too short. Read what makes you happy.
Fuck Kevin Owens
Watched this film last night and I thought it was quite good. The tone was completely different to the other 2 films. Rather than a cheesy camp action comedy romp like the previous films it felt like a glorified episode of horrible histories about WW1.
The same actor playing King George, Tzar Nicholas and Kaiser Wilhelm was peak horrible histories.
What did everyone else think?

I came it across it by accident because I was looking at questions related to tarring and feathering - a form of torture I had forgotten existed forever, since I had seen it on some cartoon somewhere as a kid.
I found myself scrolling through that quora question next however and it was a brutal dose of reality, only making EFILism come to mind..
The brutal ways that humans have tortured each other - as well as unintentional accidents and injury - not even to mention the horrible suffering in nature.. it all really is bad. I don't know how anyone could think there was anything good about earth or life.

There's this too. More examples showing just how common the tragedies are.
That is all. Just... horrible. The goldilocks zone is so small and projectile speed so slow that it makes this rifle absolutely useless. It wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't replacing such an iconic weapon as the plasma rifle. Really worried about playing the campaign and elites using this POS
The Romans are the reason that Atlas Bears are gone from Africa. Romans also killed off a bunch of other Animals in North Africa. They were not good people. People like this shouldn't be honored or celebrated.
What it says on the tin! Think of a fact about your world's history that is silly, gross, anti-climactic or very weird (bonus points if it's all of those combined), and write a quick sketch to comedically explain it! The facts could be things that seem far more outlandish in retrospect, or were ridiculous by the standards of their own time periods.
Now, if youβre not too familiar with the Horrible Histories books and series or if you're just strapped for ideas, here are some common sketch formulas:
Don't worry about if your world doesn't currently have the technological or cultural capacity to produce an early 2010s televised sketch show. Just have fun!
Now...I've got to deal with having the 'Stupid Deaths' song stuck in my head...
Personalt I would say its the perfect way to educated people though fun and full of knowledge
