Holland America dress codes

We've got a 14 day cruise booked for next year on Holland America (New Zealand & Australia). That means probably 3 or even 4 formal nights. How formal are they? We haven't been on HA before, but online I've read everything from "tuxedo or jacket and tie" for men all the way to "collared shirts". We do like to eat in the dining room, so we want to follow the rules... but also, we do not travel with giant steamer trunks. Can my husband get away with a button down shirt and a tie on a "gala" night?

Holland codes?

Hi there fellow INTJer, hope you are all well (as much as that is possible within whatever circumstance ur in).

I’ve been struggling in finding the right career path for me for about forever and have hit a snag yet again.

I was searching for some help via quizes and came by this site science/what-are-holland-codes/ (not affiliated or anything) they have a pretty good quiz and recommendations I think. Also some membership stuff which I dont know how it works, but seems you can access the core of it for free.

Anyways - sorry for the long intro, but felt the need to explain where it comes from - they seem to use some model called Holland Codes, which Ive never heard of before. I think it is useful.

My result was β€œEnthusiast” which seems to be a combination of two seemingly not that compatible groups β€œinvestigative” and β€œartistic”.

It however seems to fit INTJ pretty well in a way and Im now curious - Is this just me or is this another β€œconfirmation” that this is how INTJ peeps are?

If you are into it, feel free to take the quiz and post your results here. Just know the quiz take a while to answer (think I got stuck on it for like 20mins but was fun).

https://www.careerexplorer.com/career-test/

Edit: I redid the test to make sure - despite recommendations being similar I got a slightly different result - β€œgroundbraker” and traits β€œinvestigative” and β€œentreprising” whatever that is

P.s. if you have/had career struggles Id be likewise interested to hear your story at least as a tldr. It seems this is not an easy issue for INTJ ppl - we are a weird bunch aren’t we? 😜😏😁❀️

careers for ICS holland codes?

hi everyone, hopefully y'all can give me some guidance/advice.

im 23, living in kansas, working as a salon receptionist making $11/hr. the pay is comfortable as it's insanely cheap in my town. i'm not very happy where i'm at and feel kinda stuck. i graduated HS in 2015, took a year and a half off of school as i was insanely depressed and just hated school. i have a year of community college classes down.

i was going for computer science online as a school in my state offers the entire bachelor's online. i just absolutely *hate* coding. i don't know where to turn from there. i have lots of interests but nothing is interesting enough to do for 50 years. i've considered UX, forensics, mortuary science, environmental science, GIS, film (that went down the drain quick though lol).

my dream career would be minimal contact with the public, $60k+, no trades, suitable for an ICS holland code, and as little schooling as possible although i'm okay with a bachelors if i have to.

do you guys have any suggestions or advice?

Is holland code a definitive guide for charting your career pathway?

Hi there, I would like to ask a question concerning the holland code and my career pathway.

My current results for the holland code falls within Realistic, Investigative and Artisitic. (RIA) But I am involved in legal work (contract drafting) and risk management - so I would assume that would be Enterprising, Investigative Artistic. (EIA)

As such, I know i do not really like to work with people and enjoy deep work such as contract drafting.

Can I ask, [1] Am I in the right career? I do suffer from burnouts very often but this is the unusual skill set i have obtained [2] If I were more sociable, would that make me a better fit for the job? [3] Or Should I change my job?

What is your Holland Code?

I looked and didn't see this asked before, so I was curious to see what everyone's Holland Code is. I'd be interested to see if INFPs have similar scores.

Holland Codes are sort of like MBTI but more geared toward finding a job you like. The tests give you a two or three letter code (RIA, ISC, CAI) which you can then use on a site like this to see which jobs are a good fit for you. Just use the three dropdowns at the top to select your letter score.

If you don't know your Holland Code, you can try one of these tests:

  1. 123 Test - If you're more visual, this one has pictures.
  2. Truity
  3. Open Psychometrics

So what is your Holland Code?

Wrong career choice. SIA holland code. Infp. What is next for me?

Hi, I have been in corporate jobs for my whole life (business bachelor). This has triggered depression and anxiety thru my whole adult life. I never understood what was wrong, now i get it. I am not following the path that fits my personality. I did this test SIA was my result so social occupations investigative and artistic. Im doing enterprising occupations which obviously do not fit me. I am also INFP.

I love dealing and helping people. But no idea how to do that with education in Marketing, which often can be about the opposite.

All of this makes me very sad as I don’t know how to proceed. I have an interesting in medicine education and psychology but i would need to study for years for this. Is there any middle ground?

Any help tips or career advices based on my profiles are of much use.

Big thank you for your time.

Faith in Nature Hand Soap - HANDSOAP1 (Save Β£1 on hand soap)

Ambiance - AMBIENCE15 (15% off Ambiance)

Would there have been any reason to create a list/dictionary of Latin quotes, in code, in 17th century Holland?

This is about an artefact in the British Library, a manuscript entitled "Subtlety of Witches", 1657, bought by the BL in 1836. The MS is in code, and after deciphering, turns out to be a list of Latin verbs and related quotes, interspersed with 17th century Dutch. Its likely not a hoax, as it ends with the religious coded message "christus ex maria virgine natus est". Could this have to do with the Dutch Catholic/Protestant civil conflict in the 16th and 17th centuries? Any help appreciated!!!

I just reported Jeffrey β€œjiggle jowls” Holland to the BYU honor code office for honor code violations

Here is the email that I sent. I’m hoping they ban the lying bastard:

Dear Moral Police,

I would like to report an honor code violation that occurred on BYU’s campus. I would like to report Jeffrey R. Holland for violating BYU’s honor code regarding honesty. Several months ago, Jeffrey gave a talk to mission presidents at the MTC, which as far as I understand, is a part of BYU’s campus. In that talk, Jeffrey told a story that was admittedly completely fabricated. Jeffrey also has a history of being dishonest in other talks. As a result of his dishonesty, I propose that Jeffrey be band from all BYU campuses.

A few examples of Jeffrey’s other lies include him claiming that church growth is the biggest problem that the church faces, and that the church creates 10+ stakes a week. According to the Church’s own statistics, membership growth is abysmal. Growth is the lowest that it’s been since the 1930’s, and the church does not create anywhere near 10 stakes a week.

Jeffrey has also claimed that the Book of Mormon has stood up to critical review of β€œfailed theories about its origins.” Jeffrey β€œjiggle jowls” Holland put on a great performance during his conference talk regarding the BoM. However, his words were obvious lies. There isn’t a shred of archeological evidence that supports the church’s narrative about the origins of the BoM. In fact archeological and literary evidences support the idea that the book is a 19th century work. I propose that the BoM be banned from campus for being a lie.

I also belive that any artwork showing Joseph β€œtranslating” the plates that doesn’t depict him looking into a hat, be banned from campus because such artwork further perpetuates a lie. Also, any 1st vision artwork that depicts Joseph seeing more than one personage should be banned as it is dishonest. The earliest and only account that we have in Joseph’s own handwriting of the event describes him as being visited by one personage.

Thank you for helping ensure an honest environment at BYU.

Minecraft Thaumcraft Mod Aura Nodes/Aspects and MBTI types/Big 5/Holland Code/Zodiac Signs/Alignment/Basically EVERYTHING

Minecraft Thaumcraft Mod Aura Nodes/Aspects and MBTI types/Big 5/Holland Code/Zodiac Signs/Alignment/Basically EVERYTHING

There’s a mod for Minecraft called Thaumcraft. It involves more magical aspects of the game to be added. Here, I’ll get into one aspect that it really caught me up: Aura Nodes and Aspects.

Aura Nodes are basically the energy sources of the world. Every node is different and every human is different so why not combine personality and Aura Nodes?

This will be long so I’ll warn you. There’s also about Aspects.

POWER LEVELS

There are 4 power levels of Aura Nodes: Bright, Average, Pale, Fading.

For personality, it basically correlates with general intelligence (IQ). It may also correlate with physical and mental strength a bit but most correlates with IQ.

Bright: High general intelligence. They can think abstractly well and they are also good at a lot of things. Above 75th percentile in IQ. (110+) (Generates Aspects faster than average)

Average: Normal intelligence. If you’re Average, you basically have average intelligence. Between 25th-75th percentile in IQ. (90-110) (Generates Aspects around average level)

Pale: A bit dull. Too indulging in pleasure. Between 5th-25th percentile in IQ. (75-90) (Generates Aspects slower than average)

Fading: Lower general intelligence but they tend to be practical. Usually below 5th percentile in IQ. (-75) (Doesn’t generate Aspects)

They may also correlate with EQ but I found out that IQ correlates better with Power Levels and EQ with Node Types.

NODE TYPES

There are 6 Node Types: Normal, Unstable, Pure, Hungry, Sinister, Tainted.

These correlate with personality traits and sometimes with emotional intelligence.

Normal: Likes to belong in, social, friendly, practical, sensible, traditional. They like to maintain traditions and they tend to be conservative. They are concerned with the use of things. They are very practical. They tend to be realistic and orgainsed. They like following the rules and respect authority. Average EQ. (No special properties)

Unstable: Spontaneous, on the go, impulsive, mischevious, rebellious, indecisive. They like to break rules and do whatever they want. They tend to be unpredictable and random. They may be terrified of commitment. They tend to be indecisive. Low EQ. (Randomly changes Aspects and sometimes drops orb)

Pure: Empathetic, helpful, agreeable, protective, dislikes arguing, altruistic, humble. They are natural car

What do you normally get on career profiler tests? (Holland Codes)

Look up "career interest profiler quiz" if you don't know what I'm referring to, or, better, explore your personality via this version of the test

Phycologist John L. Holland developed a personality quiz (generally used for career profiling) that includes 6 personality categories: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional.

Descriptions of each personality taken from this website:

  1. Realistic: (Do’er) – Prefers physical activities that require skill, strength, and coordination. Traits include genuine, stable, conforming, and practical. Example professions include architect, farmer, and engineer.

  2. Investigative (Thinker) – Prefers working with theory and information, thinking, organizing, and understanding. Traits include: analytical, curious, and independent. Example professions include lawyer, mathematician, and professor.

  3. Artistic (Creator) – Prefers creative, original, and unsystematic activities that allow creative expression. Traits include: imaginative, disorderly, idealistic, emotional, and impractical. Example professions include: artist, musician, and writer.

  4. Social (Helper) – Prefers activities that involve helping, healing, or developing others. Traits include cooperative, friendly, sociable, and understanding. Example professions include counselor, doctor, and teacher.

  5. Enterprising (Persuader) – Prefers competitive environments, leadership, influence, selling, and status. Traits include ambitious, domineering, energetic, and self-confident. Example professions include Management, Marketing, and Sales Person.

  6. Conventional (Organizer) – Prefers precise, rule-regulated, orderly, and unambiguous activities. Traits include conforming, efficient, practical, unimaginative, and inflexible. Example professions include accountant, clerk and editor.

I'm normally Investigative or Conventional (it switches... always close to a balance).

Realistic: 20

Investigative: 31

Artistic: 14

Social: 19

Enterprising: 16

Conventional: 25

The Colors of the Holland Codes

If you are not familiar with the Holland Codes, it is a theory of vocation and personality compatibility. The six Holland codes are Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. I will not go into great detail here about each one. Wikipedia does it enough justice. What I am interested in is what colors best match to each Holland code.

Here is my take:

Realistic: Any Green combination with some Red undertones.

Investigative: Any Blue color combinations.

Artistic: Any Red color combinations.

Social: Any Green color combination with White undertones.

Enterprising: Any Black color combinations.

Conventional: Any White color combinations.

Let me know what you think.

Edit:

  • changed Social from any non-U and non-B

  • changed Realistic from any non-U

Why is the work of a banker not considered a 100% conventional job as shown in the Holland Code?

I work at a bank in the non-cash area as a universal banker (I guess that would be the equivalent post in the West). The work is 100% conventional. By conventional, I am referring to the six pillars of the Holland Code.

The work is all about making files, maintaining registers, taking in forms, entering data, copy-paste. Its extremely gruelling pure clerical work. Nothing else. There is no scope for creative or investigative thought or anything like that.

I know that not all positions in the banking industry are like this, but the work of a banker in the "pure" sense at a starting level at least, seems to be almost exclusively conventional.
