A list of puns related to "Hillsborough disaster and The Sun"
This is a football related opinion. I am a football fan and am a resident of the UK for some context. Now the death of 96 people is tragic and I hope it never happens again. However, what gets my goat is that no one mentions the heysal disaster.
Context, heysal was the disaster in the European cup. Liverpool fans breached into the Juventus stand charging them and causing a crush and deaths in the process. I'll provide a link at the bottom for more facts.
This has hardly ever been commemorated by the liverpool fan base and only happened a four years before Hillsborough. Witness statements from the day of heysal claim that the liverpool fans were revved up and ready for a scrap, which I imagine is true as hooliganism in English football was at its height in the 80's.
There has been a whole court case and the blame has been levelled at the feet of the police on the day, which I agree with to a certain extent.
My real bug bear is that everyone talks about the injustice of Hillsborough and how newspapers lied and the loss of innocent life that day. It's something liverpool fans come together over.
Well I'm here to say that the deaths of those Juventus fans are on liverpool hands. You charged them in a drunken stupor and caused people to suffer the same fate as the 96.
Don't sit there all teary eyed about how you lost sons and husbands when you have never held 1 minute silence for the lives lost at heysal.
Tdlr; Hillsborough was bad but you should show sympathy for the deaths caused by liverpool fans at heysal. Liverpool FC are hypocrites.
