I had a random drunken idea that I thought I might share.

At the end of Hero of Ages, the Hero is able to become the vessel to the shards of Preservation and Ruin because they Resonate with both shards.

A lot of people talked about the idea that Kaladin would take up the shard of Honor. And... It seems like that could be true, but Dalinar is really the more likely option. Unless... You know... He becomes the champion for Odium or one of the Fused.

On a reread one thing I notice is how often Kaladin is referred to as having burning passion behind his words and eyes and looks and how he holds himself. He's an intense guy.

But he's also honorable. Like... To a fault almost.

The Hero of Ages was only able to pick up both shards of Preservation and Ruin because they Resonated or were attuned to the shards fundamental intent.

So hear me out... Something happens and the Rosharans lose this coming challenge.

Dalinar is turned into one of the Fused. By definition, unless I misunderstand, that means he will be killed, invested, and turned into a Cognitive Shadow.

Who knows if they can pick up shards? (There might be a WoB about this but off the top of my head, idk)

One of the big messages from Era 1 MB is that, yes, it is indeed possible to kill to protect, which just so happens to be a big struggling point morally for Kaladin.

I think you could be super Passion(ate) and Honor(able) at the same time.

My biggest issue with this is we don't know who the BBEG is going to be when it's MB era 4 and Dusk era. T.Odium would make a great BBEG but for some reason I don't think that's how it'll shake out. If it is T.Odium at MB era 4, then obviously this would be ridiculous, as Kaladin would likely be dead and T.Odium, alive.

But I think Kaladin would make a great 'Hero of Ages'

I will also say, ending two major works in... Very similar manners, seems un-sanderson. But I can also see him doing it in a weird way that makes it amazing. (I'm sure it'll be Storming/Rusting Awesome 😎 anyways)

Harmony is now Row Locked, so if the primary category is played in a specific row, the Harmony procs for the units on that row only.

However, the units aren't row locked. So you can't play Dwarves on Melee First and Ranged Next and proc on each row.

Even though Harmony is considered one Shard, Sazed still treats them as two separate powers within himself. Can it be possible to create an emulsifier to truly unite them?

So as I sit here after finishing the book I can't help but think back to Harmony's letter in the epigraph. Specifically about how he is trying to craft a Sword.

Now that we know who the leader of the Ghostbloods is, we can assume that Scadrial has a much larger influence on the Cosmere than just about any other planet. I hypothesize that Cognitive Shadows are not ever fully separated from the Shard that created them. So Thaidakar is not as free as he thinks he is.

We know that Shallan plans on traveling the Cosmere and where she goes Andolin follows. I think that Andolin becomes Harmony's Sword. Preservation and Ruin in human form. Someone that can lead in Scadrial into a new era. I do not think that Andolin will ever become a Radiant and was never intended to. He is there to push Scadrial into Era 3 and beyond.

I haven’t looked at any posts from RoW yet, but I have a theory about the epigraph for chapter 29. It is clearly Sazed as the vessel of Harmony musing on the fact he isn’t suited to be the vessel, as he isnt experienced enough to wield the opposing Intents. He says he is searching someone “who embodies both Preservation and Ruin. A...sword, you might say, who can both protect and kill.”(RoW 392). I immediately thought of Waxillium, as he is a lawman who often kills to protect innocents and upholds the law. After all, I believe Era 2 book 4 is coming soon(a year or two, if memory serves), and I could see Sazed offering Wax the shard. But then I thought...what if Wax declined the shard. He’s known to not like expectations and didn’t accept responsibility, especially when he was young and became a lawman, and I feel being a vessel wouldn’t be attractive to him. Thus, Harmony still needs a vessel. And who better than the legend himself who just swore his 4th ideal and has grappled with but come to terms with protecting and killing: Stormblessed himself. In the second half of the stormlight books, I’m predicting that either Kal makes it to Scadrial or Sazed as Harmony makes it to Roshar, or they meet somewhere else, but they do meet, and Kal ultimately takes up the shard of Harmony.

Does anyone knows how the do that 12 row reharmonization? (Take a II-V-I Progression for instance).

The buff-bar on the left is a total mess now.

First of all, in the Blind Wells activity the buff you get from orbs is called 'Harmony', just like the new damage perks that was added recently. That is very confusing.

Secondly, that buff along with the 'Touch of the Sky' buff in the same activity, they push out other usefull buffs that I might want to keep track of, like Sturm Overcharge rounds or buffs from Charged with Light mods (resist for example) or many other useful buffs from mods/wepons/etc.

Add nightmare essence to the equation when doing altars, various seasonal activity buffs. And all of that is somehow supposed to fit into a 3-rows-high bar.

It would be nice if bungie made a QoL update to that part of the game in particular, like renaming certain buffs for clarity, making it fit more text, rearranging buff priority.

EDIT: People are also saying that some raid-specific buffs can get pushed out as well or be unnoticed. I don't do raids so I didn't even know that. And if I get mad at not seeing a buff when killing ads in patrol, I can't imagine how one must feel when they cause a wipe during a raid because they couldn't see a buff/debuff.

Edit 2- user u/flea1400 laid out all of the facts very well so I’m copying their comment and leaving it up here to help out with some confusion (English is my first language btw I’m just not very articulate to be fully transparent):

Let me summarize the situation with some info not in the original post, that op added in comments: It’s not a normal HOA situation.

The neighbor bought an expensive 2-bedroom vintage house, a historic near-100-year-old hotel cottage in a HOA with only seven other families. Because the eight houses are former hotel cottages they have unusually tight parking, a single shared water service line and sewer, no garages, no street parking, and a narrow shared drive. Sounds like it’s almost a townhome type arrangement except that they have separate walls, and less parking than you see with modern townhomes.

After living there for a year she asks the neighbors to approve a major construction project adding a second story which will require a over a year to complete and an RV parked in the limited shared space for her family to live in while it is going on. It will also require all the neighbors to park over a block away instead of at their houses while the work is going on. And the work will be done by her ex husband between other jobs (apparently he’s a contractor.) Also on a more permanent basis it will likely require a special assessment to upgrade the shared utilities and a permanent increase in utility costs.

In short, it’s not just a little noise, it’s a major imposition for at least a year, and will permanently affect the neighbors. I really can’t blame them for being less than enthusiastic.

Edit: I felt like my post was so long already so I left some details out that are actually important… woops. I’m not a very good writer and I’m flustered. Anyway, we live in a 100 year old row of houses that was once a hotel, meaning that we have crawl spaces under our homes and our water and sewer lines are attached. We also have very limited parking space due to the layout of our homes AND our houses are less than 10 feet from one another. We have a tight community in so many ways, both literally and the fact that we’re all pretty likeminded, relaxed folks. None of us started the HOA but we bought our homes knowing what kind of place we’d be living in, knowing we would be buying into a sort of community and that was actually the reason some of us chose these homes. Everyone hates HOAs I get it but I actually don’t think

It's not regarded as a bad title track by any means, but its considered somewhat forgettable or not as strong as previous ones by a lot of people. However I feel like the sum of its parts and even some of the things it lacks works in its favor to make it one of the best (or one of the most easy to enjoy) title tracks. This is obviously a very brief and subjective break down of the song and mv, etc. but maybe you'll look at Life Goes On in a different light.

Sound: It might not be the most experimental or groundbreaking, but its easy to listen to. At worst some will find it boring but at best it's soothing and something you can listen to whenever. It has its fun parts, though (the little click clack in the background is cute for lack of a better word). The MV version has that little instrumental break from 2:42-2:56 that's followed by BTS singing the chorus altogether in front of rows of ARMY bombs (the group's lightstick). That really hits, if you have connections to the band already.

Vocals: Not much to say about this, but I enjoyed how their voices are processed? It sounds smooth. I also enjoy that there aren't that many high notes, I find BTS' lower register charming (esp. that of Jin's at 2:22-2:33 of the song). Jungkook provides some really great harmonies in the MTV Unplugged version as well (2:44-3:00). BTS has a lot of variety in terms of vocal color particularly amongst the 4 members of the vocal line and I think it really shows in this song (easy to tell who is singing when minus during their group vocal part mentioned above, as opposed to for example, in a song like Black Swan).

I know there were some that found the idea of a song touching upon the pandemic cheesy or insensitive but I don't think the lyrics were forcing optimism. They tried to be hopeful without disregarding that yeah, this situation does suck (lol). Another instance where BTS grasped a concept that could easily be shallow/cheesy (especially coming from celebrities) and explored it effectively was with their Love Yourself series, specifically with songs like Magic Shop and Answer: Love Myself. I have a guitar student who was interested in getting into pedals for the first time, and asked me lots of questions about it. After spending most of a lesson just answering, I figured it'd be easier to write him an overview.

My whole band helped out with effects, pedal examples and musical samples of where they can be heard. My student's a big fan of Metallica, Green Day and Nirvana, so the examples I picked lean in that direction.

This is what I wrote him:

There are a few broad categories of effects. Drive pedals are generally to do with your core tone, such as giving you a great distortion sound or boosting it so your solos can be heard better. Modulation pedals, like chorus or tremolo, make constant cycling patterns in your sound, to create more interesting textures, especially when playing without distortion. Echo pedals add space to your tone, making the whole thing sound bigger. Dynamics pedals typically fix problems, like getting rid of hum or stopping your loudest notes from damaging your speakers. And admin pedals make sure the little details are in order, like splitting the signal where necessary or keeping you in tune.

Drive Effects

Drives add more gain to your signal, like a second amplifier before your main one. These fall under four categories, based on how much they alter your sound:

• Boost – makes the sound louder without affecting the tone much. Good for making a lead melody stand out, or pushing your amp a bit harder (and so making it distort a bit more) for solos. I use one for playing clean solos. A famous example is the MXR Micro Amp.
• Overdrive – adds an edge to the sound, making it break up. Overdrive and distortion are very similar, and there isn’t a definite line between them. Generally overdrive is a bit lighter, and responds more to how hard you pick (as in if you pick a note harder, it’s much more distorted than if you pick a note lightly). The classic example is the Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer, a more modern one is the Earthquaker Devices Talons Overdrive.

  Stevie Ray Vaughan: Pride and Joy (lead)
• Distortion – generally thicker than overdrive, and capable of distorting the notes even if you pick very lightly. Comes in flavours ranging from the grungy Pro Co Rat to the all-out met

The gathered crowd of aliens looked all around for the source of the voice but the voice was never in the place they had just heard it from. It was like talking to someone who was across the street, right next to you, and behind you all at the same time. Finally, a neon blue creature that resembled a bear-sized floating slug with tentacles spoke from the crowd. As it spoke its neon blue body seemed to brighten and dim based on the pitch of its voice. "Oh, holy speaker of the ancients! This one greets you and wishes with all its hearts to see your benevolent and godly form before its ocular!"

Another being that bore an unsettling resemblance to a velociraptor with wings grinned wide with its fanged maw as it bowed. "Yes, please allow us to speak face to face. It is... odd to speak with air."

A small sigh rang out from everywhere before a projection formed into the shape of an old man wearing black armor with sharp edges. His white hair was short and slicked back. Only a small strand fell in front of his face as he bowed deeply before the crowd. A deep and raspy voice rang out. "Apologies. I had no need to reveal myself until this point. I am Vigil, the A.I. who controls the station defenses. And you?"

The Raptor-like individual spoke with something akin to fanaticism ringing in its voice as it gazed upon the armored form of the A.I. "My name is Isathia

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

Hi everyone! I know there are a lot of year-end retrospectives flying around the sub and in that sense this is just another drop in the bucket, but I wanted for my own sake to create a summary of my gaming year so I could keep my thoughts organized and have a more permanent reference point back in the future. With that in mind feel free to disregard this post if it adds nothing new, but of course I welcome any and all discussion as well!

First, some background: I keep pretty meticulous track of what games I play and especially games I've finished. I started a list perhaps 15 years ago that has only continued to grow in both size and detail. While that means that for quite some time my completed gaming efforts have been well-organized, it was only around 2019 that I made a point of organizing my upcoming gaming as well, confronted as I was by a frankly intimidatingly-sized backlog. I've found that, more than any other factor, this simple act of organizing/planning my backlog has enabled me to really start taking chunks of it away. How effective has it been?

• In 2019, I set a new personal record, completing 69 total games.

• In 2020, I completed a respectable 45 total games, despite welcoming a newborn and spending hundreds of hours on a massive creative writing project.

• In 2021, with fewer restraints on my time and even better organizational methods, I shattered my previous record and completed 94 games.

This brings my lifelong total up to 606 completed games and counting. While my backlog remains large, the number of games I'm actually really excited about playing has shrunk significantly, so I'd expect the pace to slow a bit for this year and beyond - but we'll see!

Without further ado, here's the list, presented in chronological completion order, along with my personal ratings for each game. Unfortunately two of these games are too recent to be included by name here, so please pardon the redactions where relevant.

So in this post I want to tackle the question every one has been asking. How will Savathûn gain the Light? Theories abound and I’ve read many of them as well as put in a great deal of thought myself. This is my attempt at a coherent theory. As always, take everything I say with a grain of salt.

Now I had considered writing a post months ago essentially positing the idea that perhaps Mara knows a lot more than she is letting on. That perhaps Savathûn gaining the Light was all… part of the plan. In following this train of thought however, I stumbled across a greater truth about Savathûn. Even so, I think it’s worth touching on why I believe Mara knows far more than she let’s on.

Mara Sov is no fool

>“When there is too much Darkness in the universe, Light must cast it away. And when there is too much Light, Darkness must drown it out. This truth is our burden. This is what it is to be Awoken.

These were the ominous last words Mara uttered in her court before departing. The Awoken understand Light and Darkness differently to the Guardians and are far less dogmatic when it comes to the morality of either paracausal force. No one understands this more than Mara.

These words stuck with me however and I began to wonder if we, the Guardians, may once again find ourselves all... part of the plan. Then during the recent Season of the Lost I heard something jarring.

Mara tells us that she made a bargain for the release of Osiris and that if freed from her worm Savathûn will comply. While she acknowledges that Savathûn’s betrayal is inevitable she also stated that without her worm, Savathûn is vulnerable: unprotected by the security of her throne world. Mortal.

Now Mara often speaks in layered lies and this never sat right with me. Mara is many things but short-sighted is not one of them. In fact she has demonstrated clairvoyance in the past, most notably when instructing Brother Vance to tell Osiris to “plant the seed” years before Osiris even retrieved the seed that would one day become the tree of silver wings.

I tried searching for a site that had the info of random encounters that replaced the regular shops/chests in Path of Champions, couldn't find it anywhere. So I began grabbing the info of all the random shops, which I was regularly upgrading to have even more types of info so I'm close to finishing all data. Please excuse my formatting, as I'm limited by plain text.

This is all the info I've collected over 30+ runs, so I'm still missing some info (like the power that deal 1 to the enemy nexus when you cast a spell or the item that reduces cost by the highest cost champion. Is +3/+1 called Warmaul? I'm unsure). Any info that I'm missing or is wrong would be appreciated.

When Sazed gave Wax the choice, one was a freedom, and Wax mentioned how he feels that one like flying, free of any shackles, on the lines of blue lights, being able to go where his curiosity leads. Maybe I just imagining connections, like that with Ati from... didn't yet read that book, and atium, but this description makes me think about something from Stormlight Archive.

Could wind sprens and/or honor sprens be at least somewhat inspired by this idea? Freedom, flight, blue lines of light, unquenchable curiosity, remainds me someone particular, I don't think connected to Wax in any in-world way, but still sounds a bit like Syl.

So, what do you think, can this moment be a little piece of what formed an idea of wind and honor sprens?
