A list of puns related to "Hanakotoba"
Iโve been trying to find it on Spotify but to no avail
Hi everyone!!
Can anyone suggest a good book about the meaning of plants and flowers? I'm looking for something relatively in-depth (not just "this means love, this means jealousy" lol) and possibly with illustrations. I also just learned about the japanese Hanakotoba, so any book specific to that is greatly welcome.
I already know about Charlotte de Latour's "The language of flowers" and was thinking about getting it, but I would love some more books to chose from !!
I heard in some schools it isn't, so how is it seen overall for Ikebana? Are they connected/linked?
Have anyone of you have found the ed Hanakotoba in FLAC I haven't been that lucky and still trying to find it since the 26 of December last year :c

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Here comes my last name analysis post, unless I decide to do one centered around secondary characters later. Like for all the others the analysis will mostly be based on the kanji, the Japanese version of Chinese characters, that are used to write the character names, and the names in Japanese will be written last name first. There might be slight spoilers for the main story and events released in JP too, but nothing too big.
The theme naming for the last names of More More Jumpโs idols is plants which means I will make reference to hanakotoba, Japanese flower language.
่ฑ(flower) ้(village) ใฟใฎใ(Minori)
Minoriโs name gives a very rural impression, despite the fact that Minori herself was probably born and raised in Shibuya. There is the fact that her last name means โflower villageโ, of course, but ใฟใฎใ is also a very common first name that is derived from the verb ๅฎใ (minoru) which means bearing fruit. This gives her a very โlost country mouseโ vibe, fitting for her unfamiliarity with the world of show business.
The fact that her first name is written in hiragana, one of the โalphabetsโ of the Japanese language, also highlights her inexperience, since as the first writing system learned in Japanese school it evokes childhood and looks less adult than kanji. That said, hiragana is also seen as cute for the same reason, so it is not a bad writing choice for an idol name. (As a side note, Kohane's name is probably written in hiragana for the same reason.)
This might seem a bit too negative but ultimately Minoriโs name is full of positivity: flowers are a frequent symbol of renewal, hope and beauty and her first name is a wish for her efforts to bear fruit. It is a bit like her in that way.
ๆก(paulownia) ่ฐท(valley) ้ฅ(far away)
The paulownia, also known as foxglove tree or empress tree, is a tree bearing purple flowers, not so far from Harukaโs image color, dark blue. Named after a queen consort of the Netherlands in the West and used as one of the emblems of the imperial family in Japan, in flower language it means โnobilityโ or โrefinementโ.
If you add it to โfar awayโ, it makes Harukaโs full name highlight her status as one of Japanโs top idols, a league above everyone in terms of popularity, skill and dedication but also at first glance seemingly unapproachable in every meaning of the term, something that she is trying to slowly overcome.
