    • Silver/Golden Keys - Used to unbind a 4* and 5* wyrmprint by 1 stage respectively
  • FS: Force Strike - Done by holding down until the white arrow/circle is charged then releasing. Helps to break OD Bar faster
  • C1-5/1-5a: Combo/Auto attacks - The normal attack combination done when you are tapping the screen. Used in combination with FS to describe what combination you should use when attacking
    • Eg. Xander should use C1FS/1a+FS (He used 1 normal attack followed by 1 FS then repeat)
  • Gala: Gala Dragalia - Limited summon banner that is supposed to come every 2 months that features limited Gala versions of Characters, has an increased 5* summon rate of 6% and a lower number of pulls for a guaranteed 5* (60 pulls)

I'm a Chinese learner and following the virus closely. Would love to be able to trust translations a bit more and understand more social media posts.

I know

ๆญฆๆฑ‰ = Wuhan ๅŒป็”Ÿ = Doctor

But what are some other words I should know. What is the virus being called in China? What is the word for quarantine and other things?

Would love to be able to make a big sticky post to help everyone understand more.

Thanks.

[Boston Globe] A glossary of "Eck-isms."

Which one is your favourite?

... I think we need to add the Masterson family to the list.

-------------------------

https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-red-sox/2018/08/30/what-the-heck-is-the-eck-talking-about

โ€œPUNCHOUTโ€™โ€™

Ecksplanation: A strikeout. If Eckersley has ever called a strikeout anything but a punchout, I missed it.

Proper use in a sentence: โ€œSale has 12 punchouts on just 68 pitches.โ€™โ€™

โ€œCHEESEโ€™โ€™

Ecksplanation: A blazing fastball.

Proper use in a sentence: โ€œKimbrel blew away Stanton there with the high cheese.โ€™โ€™ (โ€œHighโ€™โ€™ signifying the pitch location.) Note: Occasionally, Eckersley will be specific about the kind of cheese, calling it โ€œcheddar.โ€™โ€™

โ€œEDUCATED CHEESEโ€™โ€™

Ecksplanation: A well-located fastball.

Proper use in a sentence: โ€œMan, OB, that was some educated cheese there by Price. Ninety-four miles per hour, right on the black.โ€™โ€™

โ€œEASY CHEESEโ€™โ€™

Ecksplanation: An effortless fastball.

Proper use in a sentence: โ€œLet me tell you, back in my day, no one had easy cheese like Gossage.โ€™โ€™

โ€œGASโ€™โ€™

Ecksplanation: Basically the same thing as cheese, though used more often in reference to a pitchโ€™s velocity.

Proper use in a sentence: โ€œEovaldi was throwing gas from jump street.โ€™โ€™

โ€œJUMP STREETโ€™โ€™

Definition: The beginning of a game or the start of a playerโ€™s performance in a game.

Proper use in a sentence: โ€œFrom jump street tonight, Kimbrel just couldnโ€™t find the strike zone with his slider.โ€™โ€™

โ€œSALADโ€™โ€™

Ecksplanation: A finesse pitcherโ€™s repertoire, or anti-cheese.

Proper use in a sentence: โ€œHapp was hammering the strike zone with salad all night.โ€™โ€™

โ€œEDUCATED SALADโ€™โ€™

Ecksplanation: A veteran finesse pitcherโ€™s repertoire. He may not have great stuff, but he has learned to work, and often succeed, with what he has.

Proper use in a sentence: โ€œWhen he was young, Colon used to throw gas, but now heโ€™s trying to get by with educated salad.โ€™โ€™

โ€œPAINTโ€™โ€™

Ecksplanation: A pitcherโ€™s ability to consistently hit the edges of the strike zone. Few pitchers ever have painted like Eck himself, who in 1990 walked just four batters (one intentional) in 73โ…“ innings.

Proper use in a sentence: โ€œWhen Sale paints the black with his slider like that, I donโ€™t know why the hitter even bothers stepping in the batterโ€™s box.โ€™โ€™

Glossary of Notes to Increase Lifts: The Deadlift

In case anybody gives a fuck, hereโ€™s a couple of tricks that I have learned over the years to increase your deadlift:

โ€œThe Deadlift: 20% Physical and Programming, 10% Mental, 70% Technicalโ€ - Dave Tate, EliteFTS

Assistance Exercises to Improve Deadlift:

  • GHD Back Extensions (posterior chain development with heavy emphasis on lower back and hamstrings to improve hip extension and core bracing throughout entire movement)
  • The โ€œBro Pullsโ€ aka Barbell Rows and Pull-ups (develops the grip, biceps, lats which all help maintain structural integrity and power output during the deadlift)
  • Single-Leg Dumbbell Deadlifts (develops obliques, deep muscles around lower back and upper hamstrings, to increase core stabilization and balance/stability throughout the pull)
  • Pulls from a Deficit (develops the ability to brace the core, and generate more power output when pulling from from the floor aka making it harder so the โ€œreal thingโ€ is easier)
  • Rack Pulls (Develops the lats, grip, Rhomboids, and traps without the CNS fatigue of pulling from the floor.. strengthens the pull from the knee to full lockout)
  • Hip Thrusts (develops the glutes and hamstrings to fire and exert maximal hip Extension power output without loading the spine/ develop CNS fatigue, training maximal strength through extension of the hip)
  • experiment with different grips and stances to emphasize different muscles more (ie. heels touching, with feet pointed in a โ€œVโ€ shape, with a snatch grip for increased trap and lat development))
  • Stiff-Legged Deadlifts (hypertrophy of hamstrings, glutes, core, lats and traps for a faster, more stable pull and increased power output throughout the entire movement)
  • Thoracic-Extension Mobility Exercises (poor thoracic Extension is the hidden secret of many aโ€™failed squats and deadlifts)
  • Hip and Hamstring Mobility (better positioning, more stability, better power output, better lifts)
  • Ankle Mobility (see above)

Mental Cues of the Deadlift:

The key to a stronger deadlift is a combination of strength, positioning, and speed. You want to initiate the deadlift by first setting your stance. A solid and common stance for the conventional deadlift is to stand with feet hip-width apart, the bar directly over your mid-foot, and toes pointing forward. Then, you want to bend over and grab the bar with a shoulder-width grip, while bending the knees until your shins touch the bar. Now that your grip and stance is set, with the bar resting against your shins, you

A glossary of common terms

A section of the glossary regarding specific variants of dungeon runs

What's a strat orb run? What about a raid leader advertising a raid with +1 reset or hard res [Sulfuron Ingot]?

If you're returning to vanilla after a long time, or just dipping your toes in, you might find chat a bit confusing. So, we got together and compiled a short list of commonly used terms, acronyms and abbreviations expected to be used in Classic.

It briefly explains things like variants of dungeon runs, raid organisation terminology and confusing warlock specs. We tried to avoid the most obvious like 'LFM and LFG' since these are pretty well-known already.

If you have something you'd like to add to the glossary that you think people should know about just leave a comment here or on the thread :)

Does anyone know a way to take a spreadsheet full of information and turn it into a topology?

Hi all. Last year in college and as a networking intern. I'm looking for tricks, tips, and information here.

I've just been tasked with mapping the entirety of our campus access layer's connections up to our distro layer. This, from top to bottom, contains: 2 distro switches, 7 aggregate switches, 83 access switches.

I need to map every single connection (not really concerned with the "why" at the moment, more concern with the "how") between these devices. There are not cleanly organized anywhere - I simply have a list of there physical interfaces and each device's CDP information.

Aside from going through each device individually, drawing it's connections, and trying to remember where each one is the diagram whilst drawing future connections... how do I handle this without spending the next week or two drawing and redrawing lines?

There needs to be a term glossary somewhere in the Dota 2 client. It would define things such as "strong dispel only" and the function of things like "root" and "mini stun."

I looked around and didn't see anything like this. For experienced players most of these terms are fairly common knowledge but with patches changing mechanics regularly I believe there really needs to be an easy place to look up all these terms and mechanics.

Glossary of Terms for Inca Language

Hey all, found a website attempting to define Incan' terms like a dictionary full of potential gold. I found some of these terms useful for understanding allot of ideas, terminology, and symbols usually limited to "spirituality" as a mystery. It's fascinating to get a peek at a language and culture designed around spiritual development. I would call it the fundamental basics of human psychology.

Small example of what a language might produce when reality and "spirituality" are considered the same;

>Pachamama, Pacha Mama: (n) (1) Mother Earth, Gaia; both the physical planet and the goddess archetype. Universal feminine energy in time and space; cosmic mother.

Not much different, if at all, than Yin and Yang or similar Eastern concepts but in "plain" language.

>The Pachamama is the point where time and space meet. The past, the present and the
future are born from her and all return to her. She is the universal and eternal matrix.
The apus, the ancestors, and the various spirits are all born from her, controlled by her,
and protected by her. . . . Man, too, with his family and all his possessions . . . is born
from her, nurtured and raised by her, and finally drawn back within her when he dies.

I also like how the originator of the site is mostly following his own curiosities. He is very humble in making it clear his understandings may need refinement and he seems to have really applied himself in doing so.

Itโ€™s official, I dropped out of my Topology class

Title says it all really. I dropped out of my topology class in my 3rd year of uni.

Donโ€™t get me wrong, itโ€™s a branch of maths that Iโ€™ve always found fascinating and something Iโ€™d definitely love to try again in the future, but not right now.

I think itโ€™s partly because of a combination of me struggling to grasp the key concepts quick enough, a lecturing style that is far from anything Iโ€™ve experienced before, and barely scraping a pass in the midterm because I thankfully knew the definitions that were asked (more of a fluke than anything). I also have very little confidence in proving new results, so half of the midterm was effectively off limits for me.

The main thing though, and I feel this is important for everyone, I came out of every lecture completely demoralised and dreading going back.

Thatโ€™s never happened for any other class, and itโ€™s certainly not healthy.

The moment I saw the next homework assignment, and realised I had pretty much no intuition on how to answer any of the 9 (!) questions, it flicked a switch and I knew I had to get out.

I only wish Iโ€™d dropped it sooner because it was negatively affecting my mental health. Thankfully my grades in other classes were doing just fine, but I didnโ€™t want to risk anything for the upcoming final exams.

I have the upmost respect for anyone who is comfortable with Topology, and I hope one day Iโ€™ll eventually become comfortable with it myself.

TLDR: I dropped Topology, look after your mental health kids

Glossary of terms you should know regarding Wayfarer and related topics

This is intended for people who are brand new to Wayfarer and have experience with only 1 or 2 of Niantic's games. It focuses heavily on Ingress terms as many new reviewers come from Pokemon Go and will be unfamiliar with Ingress terms.

S2 Map Grid

The S2 Map grid is a tool used to map out the entire world in a grid. It has cells from size 1 (largest) to 30 (smallest). Each level of cell contains 4 of the next smallest cell. It is used extensively by Niantic for a variety of purposes. <https://s2.sidewalklabs.com/regioncoverer/> The two most well known (for Pokemon Go) are Level 17 (L17) & Level 14 (L14). 6, 8, 10 and possibly others are used as well.

Coal Extraordinarily bad nominations.

Forbidden Terms Niantic has indicated that any candidate whose title or description references a particular game should be rejected. Keep in mind that there are times when these terms are acceptable if they are accurate descriptions of what the candidate is. Such terms include but are not limited to: Enlightened, Resistance, XM, portal, pokestop, gym, Mystic, Instinct, Valor, Wizard, trainer, agent, *-gress (bikegress, hikegress, cargress, etc), pokemon, pokemon go, any pokemon name

Operation Portal Recon (OPR) This was the old review system that became Wayfarer

Portal The single kind of game location in Ingress. All non-sponsored Pokestops, Gyms, Inns, Fortresses, Greenhouses, etc are portals. Not all portals are locations in other Niantic games.

Redacted / Prime Redacted is the name for the old version of the Ingress app which was retired September 30th, 2019. Prime is the current version, formally titled Ingress Prime.

Key / Portal Key An item used in Ingress gameplay, acquired by interacting with a portal. Each key is specific to a portal and can be used to interact with that portal remotely in various ways. Somewhat similar to Gifts in other games but cannot be sent to other players.

Scanner When used in the context of Ingress, it is the formal name of the Ingress Game/App. Otherwise typically refers to tools used to gather game data via automation from any of the Niantic games.

Reducing/removing Layer 2 at network edge of leaf/spine topology

Hey all,

We have a leaf/spine network with a set of border leaves connected to a firewall (ASA). I'm looking for any advice as to how we could potentially move our setup to pure layer 3, having layer 2 adjacency only on point to point links.

See the following diagram for the current setup: https://imgur.com/a/rdsLc8f

The outside interface of our firewall is connected to a switch , and upstream routers provide a VRRP IP for the default gateway to the internet. We do NAT translations at the firewall for public access to internal private IPs, and we do SNAT for private IPs at the firewall for them to reach the internet.

On the inside interfaces of the firewall, we peer it with BGP to each of the border leaves. The firewall announces a default route into the spine/leaf topology.

What I'm interested in doing is something like this: https://imgur.com/a/QzEy1k5 (edited to show router + firewall active/standby adjacency)

Ideally each side of the firewall (inside and outside) would be BGP peered, and there would be no VRRP. The problem I'm not sure if I can overcome is when NAT comes into play. Are there any ways to make this work where I can have both internal private IPs SNAT to the internet and have NAT rules that map public IPs to private internal IPs? I'm not sure if traffic zones would help here in an async routing case.

Thanks!

A glossary of crypto terms Timothy May sent to the Cypherpunks mailing list, 27 years ago today

From: tcmay@netcom.com (Timothy C. May)
Subject: Crypto Glossary
Date: Sun, 22 Nov 92 11:50:55 PST

Here's the glossary of crypto terms we passed out in printed form at the first Cypherpunks meeting in September 1992. Some compromises had to be made in going from the printed form to the ASCII of this transmission, so I hope you'll bear with me.

I'm sending it to the entire list because nearly everyone who hears about it says "Is it online?" and wants a copy. If you don't want it, discard it.

I'm not going to be maintaining the "Cypherpunks FAQ," so don't send me corrections or additions.

Enjoy

Major Branches of Cryptology (as we see it)

(these sections will introduce the terms in context, though complete definitions will not be given)

Encryption

privacy of messages
using ciphers and codes to protect the secrecy of messages
DES is the most common symmetric cipher (same key for encryption and decryption)
RSA is the most common asymmetric cipher (different keys for encryption and decryption)

Signatures and Authentication

proving who you are
proving you signed a document (and not someone else)

Untraceable Mail

untraceable sending and receiving of mail and messages
focus: defeating eavesdroppers and traffic analysis
DC protocol (dining cryptographers)

Cryptographic Voting

focus: ballot box anonymity
credentials for voting
issues of double voting, security, robustness, efficiency

Digital Cash

focus: privacy in transactions, purchases
unlinkable credentials
blinded notes
"digital coins" may not be possible

Crypto Anarchy

using the above to evade government, to bypass tax collection, etc.
a technological solution to the problem of too much government

Glossary

agoric systems

Can anyone help me understand, why these devices are showing up outside of my topology?

Both of these devices are connected to the network (Red-o-licious=wifi, Drobo=wired).

The Drobo has a bonded connection (or at least thats what it says on the device UI), but i have another device that is 'teamed' and the 2nd port doesn't show for that device.

The 'Red-o-licious' (wifes phone) really confuses me though :/

Looking for an Informal Definition of Topology (General / Point Set)

Hi y'all. Apologies in advance if the question is lame / "soft". I just finished a summer semester in General Topology with M.A. Armstrong's Basic Topology. I got through it ok but we moved at such a fast pace that I'll have to go back over the material at some point to get a better understanding of it. So, my wife was asking me about the course and what it was about and I was having a hard time giving her an answer that didn't involve the technical details as I thought I understood them at the time. All I could say was "related to geometry...connectedness..sets..check out this Klein bottle.."

I'm just not sure how to informally generalize it if that's even the right term. Any help or insight would be appreciated, thanks for the time.

Include a glossary of terms, and where?

So, this is my first paranormal/fantasy romance series and I originally wrote a glossary of terms to go with it. This book introduces a lot of races and beings and even though I explain them all in the book when they come up, I thought I'd make a glossary so people can look back if they need to.

There are normal things like vampires, shifters, were-animals, and angels. But there are also demons (kinds and a hierarchy that I've created) that are heavily incorporated throughout this book since it's set in Hell. So my question is... do I include the glossary? and where do I put it if I do? (both ebook and paperback will be released).

Does anyone know of a Encyclopaedia/Glossary of Gay slang/terms thatโ€™s are commonly know and used by all you more experienced guys?

Iโ€™m 17, young and Iโ€™ve only just began figuring out my sexuality and am only now exploring Gay culture. Iโ€™ve learnt a lot of phrases and terms and Iโ€™m comfortable with using them... e.g Iearnt I am something called a cub... but I still hear words which I canโ€™t workout using context, I fear there are many slang words I do not know. Idk I just need something from you more experienced guys, Iโ€™m extremely inexperienced tbh, anything would help, thank you!

Question about the Wheel of Time and Glossaries

I've been listening to the Wheel of Time on and off on audible and I'm loving it (halfway through book 9). The only problem is, I can't seem to keep up with the seemingly dozens of Aes Sedai, Shaun Chen terms, and Atha-on Myeir (another downside to listening to the books is I haven't the first clue how anything is spelled). There are so many names and terms whizzing by that I can't seem to remember all of them.

My question is: is there some kind of online glossary that I can look up brief descriptions of characters and names, that is book-specific? The problem with googling anything is that I always get spoiled because everything I read is as of the last book. Do you guys have any recommendations on what I can do? Thanks!

CC Glossary of Terms for Dummiesโ€ฆ :-)

Thank you to all the really bright minds that post on this sub. Keep fighting the good fight. With all due respect to the serious issue at hand, hereโ€™s collection of terms Iโ€™ve learned over the past few months. Enjoy your weekend. ๐Ÿ˜Š

CC Glossary of Terms for Dummiesโ€ฆ

  • Man-Made Climate Change: Generally occurs following a night of drinking or Mexican food. Gaseous venting is common and may lead to localized atmospheric disturbances.
  • Female-Made Climate Change: Generally manโ€™s fault. Common causes include forgetting an anniversary or birthday. Severe cases can lead to prolonged frigid temperatures.
  • Prophet Mann and the CC Band: Released on IPCC Records, inaugural album โ€˜Hockey Stickโ€™ shot to the top of the charts in 1998. Investigation later proved all songs were artificially generated.
  • Anthropogenic: โ€˜Anthroโ€™ from the root arthropod (pest), โ€˜genicโ€™ from the root allergenic (irritant). I.E. Irritating Pests. As in โ€˜Climate activists are anthropogenicโ€™.
  • Church of Climatology: Founded when Gaia the Great sent Greta the Wonder Child to live among us. Currently led by Pope Francis. Followers seek a state of nirvana where the climate never changes.
  • Climatophobia: Intense, irrational fear of the climate. Recommended treatment is permanent indoor residency.
  • Hansen and Greta: A Grim fairy tale about a depressing professor and a brainwashed young girl who wander into the deep woods and return with wild stories about mythical climate creatures
  • Climate Change Warrior: One who fights to keep the weather exactly the same day after day. As in โ€œIโ€™m fighting climate change.โ€
  • Gore-gasm: Ecstasy felt by climate activists anytime a weather event damages humanity
  • V-O Day: Victory over the Oceans Day. June 3rd, 2008. "[T]his was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to healโ€ฆ" - Declared by Barack Obama
  • Bill Nye and Weโ€™re All Gonna Die: A comedy motion picture featuring a fake scientist who makes kids laugh with hilarious, made up predictions. Rotten Tomatoes Score: -1C
  • Carbon Offset: The one briquette that always falls on the ground when pouring charcoal into a grill
  • The PDCA Cycle: Propaganda โ€“ Deception โ€“ Consensus โ€“ Activism
  • IPCC: 1. Incorrect Predictions Continuously Corroborated 2. Inaccurate Prophets of Climate Catastrophe
  • AGW: 1. Allโ€™s Going Wrong 2. Al Goreโ€™s Wrong

I hate to ask after years of doing professional 3D modeling, but I STILL, to this day, have NO idea how to make proper quads out of circles. I'm either really bad at math or geometry, but I just can't figure out basic topology for quads. Can someone help me / point me to a good course?

This particular section I am completely out of ideas on how to handle.

I'm trying to figure out / get better with topology but I'm just so bad at it, and after how many years I've done 3D modelling, it's embarrassing that I still can't figure out topology. What would be a good way to do this? I also don't know how to do proper topology for bevel/curved edges like shown.

Beveled/curved edge. Not sure how to topologize.

Circular hole in geometry. Not sure how to topologize.

Glossary of Notes to Increase Lifts: The Olympic Lifts

In case anybody gives a fuck, hereโ€™s a couple of tricks that I have learned over the years to increase your technique, efficiency, and numbers in the Olympic Lifts:

Assistance Exercises to Improve Olympic Lifts:

  • Pulls From a Deficit (develops the ability to brace the core, and generate more power output when pulling from from the floor aka making it harder so the โ€œreal thingโ€ is easier)
  • Pulls From the Blocks (Develops the lats, grip, Rhomboids, and traps without the CNS fatigue of pulling from the floor.. strengthens the transition from first-second pull, and the complete second pull)
  • Pulls From the Hang Position (Develops the ability to generate inertia through the second pull without the momentum transfer from the first pull/from the floor.. strengthens the transition between the first and second pull without the CNS fatigue of pulling from the floor)
  • Pendlay Rows (develops the grip, biceps, lats, and core strength, which all help increase the strength in all three pulls, also improves technique and positioning, the ability to โ€œkeep the bar closeโ€)
  • Overhead Squats (mimics the bottom of a Snatch, develops ability to sit in the bottom after receiving the bar, improve core strength and stability in the bottom of a snatch, and increase power output for when driving from bottom to full lockout)
  • Front Squats (mimics the bottoms of a Clean, develops quad and core strength, and increase power output for when driving from bottom to full lockout)
  • Jerks from the Blocks (develops proficiency-through-practice of the jerk, without having to clean from the floor, can also drop the bar from lockout back onto the blocks without doing a โ€œnegativeโ€, which unnecessarily fatigues the shoulders)
  • Barbell Overhead Press (develops the anterior and medial delts, triceps, and grip for maximal power output and lockout strength in the jerk by training a similar but much weaker movement/ form of press).
  • experiment with different grips and stances to emphasize different muscles more (ie. heels touching, with feet pointed in a โ€œVโ€ shape, with a snatch grip for increased trap and lat development)
  • Core Strength exercises.. eg. GHD back extensions, Planks, Oblique Exercises (a weak core is the cause of many aโ€™failed Overhead Presses, aside from inability to retract the scapulas correct, as well as chest/lat mobility)
  • Scapular-Retraction exercises (Eg. Slow-Tempo Rear-Delt Flies with a resistance band, Face Pulls, and Crossover Symmetry - Develops scapular healt
