Can anyone suggest me ost similar to "something in your eyes" from 'gangnam beauty'

Its ost from "my id is Gangnam beauty", and I can't get over it. Can someone suggest something similar? I like its English+ Korean lyrics and rap sorta tune

for those who're interested

###Not exactly a kdrama recommendation.

Please help me find a new KDrama after watching My ID Is Gangnam Beauty!

Hey everyone.

I'm having trouble finding a new KDrama to watch after completing My ID is Gangnam Beauty, which i LOVED. The OST was great, characters were written very well, and the whole idea of beauty was handled much better than True Beauty (which i didn't enjoy so much... sorry!). I just can't seem to find another show to suit my tastes. It doesn't need to have the concept of beauty - I prefer a more slow-paced plot romance, with a more down-to-earth story, such as the University setting in My ID is Gangnam Beauty. I think good chemistry between the cast is also really important. I really loved the youthful, refreshing vibe of the show. It managed to be a light, mood boosting show while still carrying some heavy scenes, such as the family troubles, >!or Sua's stalker revealed in the final episode. !<

Overall, my criteria would be...

  • good chemistry in the cast
  • down-to-earth
  • plot pacing to be on the slower side
  • no super annoying or rude leads please !!
  • romance to be realistic and heartwarming
  • moments that make you smile!
  • refreshing

Please suggest any ideas for dramas. Perhaps a show you liked after watching my ID is Gangnam Beauty?

Thank you!

I'm looking for slice of life/romance manhwas which feel real, like Cheese in the Trap and My ID is gangnam.

I appreciated the fact that Mirae's (My ID is gangnam) way of seeing herself was the thing leading her actions, and not some ridiculous plot devices.

I honestly don't think I will ever find something better than Cheese in The Trap but I still have hope lmao.

Drama like my id is Gangnam beauty

PLEASE READ THE TEXT BEFORE RECOMMENDING πŸ‘‡πŸ½

NOT the bullying or inner beauty aspect, but the fresh students vibes. Ie something where all the new students are meeting each other and getting settled into the school life. I want the β€œnew/first year in school” dynamic. The wanting to fit in, find yourself, make friends… and a little cattiness/drama but not too much.

I’m looking for something with chill vibes like Gangnam beauty, and preferably set in university. Otherwise in high school. I’ve looked up kdramas set in uni and none of them seem to quite fit into that category, so I’m even open to jdrama or cdrama recs

Btw I’ve already watched true beauty (probably fits what I want the most apart from Gangnam beauty), weightlifting fairy, law school and hello my twenties

How do people know just by looking at Kang Mi-Rae that she got plastic surgery done in "My ID is Gangnam Beauty"?

Okay, so it might be late to ask that since the drama came out in 2018 (I only picked it up yesterday) but that is also why I'm kinda surprised at the fact that it isn't extensively discussed. Or, it might just be that there is nothing to discuss. People all around her can tell just by looking at her that she got plastic surgery done but for me no matter how much I try to identify I cannot seem to recognize her plastic surgery features. She look like a regular person to me. It might be just that I'm not familiar with those features but I don't understand how. Would anyone please kindly explain, what is going on T.T

More like My ID is Gangnam Beauty and True Beauty!!

  1. FL is cheerful compared to the ML. ML is not "cold" or "arrogant" but introverted.
  2. ML doesn't really spend time with anyone except the FL

Only if there are any with points 1 and 2 both ( I am ok even if it only matches 1 of the 2 )

Note : no annoying characters who keep judging and irritating the leads, Not necessarily another collage or school drama, the story must also revolve around SFL and SML

True Beauty is more similar to Extraordinary You than it is to My ID is Gangnam Beauty

Just to add some context, I just finished watching my ID is Gangnam Beauty and I loved it. I watched Extraordinary You a couple of months ago, and I was looking for a fun high school rom com since but couldn’t find one. I chose to compare True Beauty to these Dramas because it almost seems like a combination of the two.

My ID is Gangnam Beauty had a similar theme of Lookism and how damaging bullying can be to someone’s self image. However, My ID seemed a lot more intense and it was able to tug my heartstrings a lot more than True Beauty. My ID had me tearing up several times watching the first episode, and many more times throughout the drama.

Extraordinary You was pretty fun to watch and, like True Beauty, focused on a high school love triangle and the drama surrounding it. I haven’t finished watching True Beauty yet, but it has the same vibes as Extraordinary You.

Either way I like True Beauty so far. I was excited that it had a similar cast to My ID but I think my ID is a lot more β€œrealistic”(for a Drama) and relays the theme a bit better. Would love to hear everybody’s thoughts, I haven’t finished it yet, but I don’t really care about spoilers. Let me know if True Beauty gets more intense in the later episodes.

Looking for a drama like "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" and "Love Alarm"

Hello there,

I recently started watching k-dramas because I'm learning Korean and before, I was scared of watching these shows since I didn't understand anything it wasn't fun. But now I'm starting to understand some things so it's funny and I'm enjoying it a lot.

So I watched "Love Alarm" on Netflix, and I absolutely loved the story and the fact it's really heartwarming. I've discovered then the drama "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" on Viki, and just felt addict to this show because it were really really awesome. I love the fact that there's a lot of conflicts between girls "Oh no you love him but me too I'm going to be really mean with you to make you fail", and I really loved all the romances. And the fact that it's a little bit sad sometimes, I surprised myself as a strong men, crying while watching "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" when she says to herself that she doesn't have the right to love since she did plastic surgery.

The fact is that I'm struggling finding a new drama to watch like these two ones. I began "Her Private Life" but it doesn't really have this things which made me love "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" and "Love Alarm". It's really funny but it's not really sad or heartwarming, it's really a comedy while My ID is Gangnam Beauty and Love Alarm are sometimes funny but the main story is still "serious".

I would like to know if you know dramas like these two ones. I mean, heartwarming love stories with the girl who have the feeling she doesn't have the right to love or things like ?

Thank you !!!

Hyun Sua (My ID is Gangnam Beauty) is one of the most well-written antagonists.

The way she projects her self-loathing unto others is so realistic. Everything she does is intentional and yet so self-unaware. She doesn't see her issues and therefore takes it out onto others by trying to control every situation she's in. I actually know people like her. She's scheming, manipulative, and just downright toxic. She didn't even need a backstory to me for it to make sense, although it didn't hurt either to see the reason why she was the way she was at the end. I feel like the portrayal of a toxic person is often exaggerated in drama in a way where the villains know that they're evil and revel in their evil doings. In real life, that's not the case. Often, toxic people believe that the pain they inflict on others is pain they deserve. Sua is an insecure girl who is threatened by anyone who can get love and attention despite not being the "prettiest". However, it's never said out loud and at no point is it ever verbalized. To me, that's so realistic. I feel like everyone has known a Sua at some point in their lives.

The main characters were okay at best and annoying at worst. It was Sua's character that made My ID is Gangnam Beauty interesting. I feel like she elevated the whole show.

Woo Young from Gangnam Beauty is a breath of fresh air.

I'm probably really late to make a discussion about this drama but I really felt the need to talk about him. When Woo Young confesses to Mi Rae, she gets turned off by his reason for attraction. He says it's because she's pretty... and I really loved his reason. The show tries to make it sound like a shallow reason but it's not.

Woo Young could've lied and gone the clichΓ© route and say he likes her because of her personality or whatever but I hate that. It's unrealistic. People do need to understand that physical attraction is an important part of love. If love was all about personality, I'd be in love with my guy best friends despite being a straight man. Woo Young isn't some shady player, he's shown to be a genuinely nice person. He helps out the elderly (when there's noone around to watch), he's kind to everyone. He's down to earth and sensible. He's independent, lives on his own and manages his own finances. An all around great guy. Even when Mi Rae challenges him, he explains that there's nothing wrong with liking someone because you find them attractive. He answers honestly and also explains after that obviously it's now more than plain physical attraction but that the reason he fell for her at first sight was well, due to her being pretty. It's also shown by how he's affected afterwards and the way he treats her despite being rejected that his like for her wasn't shallow and he genuinely cares for her.

Tbh, I do like Mi Rae and understand her past trauma and concerns but I found it kind of annoying when she tried to take the moral high ground when Woo Young answered her honestly and said it was because of physical attraction. She literally did plastic surgery because she understands that looks play a part in daily life. She did plastic surgery because she knew people would treat her better if she was more attractive. And yet she takes offence that now a guy (who is an all around great person) is interested in her due to her appearance? It's also kinda hypocritical that she constantly refers to Kyung-seok as the handsome guy on campus and constantly introspects on why such a handsome guy is interested in her. She constantly does this. Mi Rae rant aside (I still like her), I really like Woo Young. A true breath of fresh air in a world of cliche kdramas which try to make love solely about personality despite casting the most handsome/beautiful actors.

The irony.

I think the real message the author behind the original webtoon was trying to sprea

Hi all! So I just finished watching My ID Is Gangnam Beauty, twice! I’m looking for shows that are similar!

I’m fairly new to K Dramas. I’ve watched My First First Love, Love Alarm and One Spring Night and I’ve loved them all!

I’m looking for any shows that are somewhat similar. Anything with similar characters storylines. So for example in My ID Is Gangnam Beauty I loved that the ML was a super popular guy, but still very sweet and still fell for the FL who wasn’t popular in the beginning. A little drama is always fun to watch, too!

Any recommendations would be super appreciated!!

my id is a gangnam beauty could have been way more woke

I really like this drama a lot. I actually rewatched it for a second time recently. However, looking back in hindsight the drama isn't as woke as it was trying to be. I don't know if the writer was intending the show to make a statement but I thought this was gonna be different. Plastic surgery is so common in South Korea(like it is the plastic surgery capitol of the world) yet it is barely talked about in society let alone kdramas. In this show, you get to see potential effects it has on a person after they go under the knife and how it could change their life for better or worse. I really enjoy some of the small themes that are brought up. For example: being beautiful doesn't necessarily mean your life is easier. Being attractive has its perks but for some, the cons outweigh the pros. Or how sometimes you can still feel ugly even when everyone around you tells you otherwise.

After the surgery, Mirae had seemingly gotten what she always wanted from those around her: acceptance. But on the inside she still felt the same. he still wasn't fully satisfied with her appearance and she constantly compared her looks to others. Not to be a psychologist, but Mirae might have been experiencing some symptoms of trauma and body dysmorphia(a mental illness involving obsessive focus on a perceived flaw in appearance.) I think it would've been progressive if she had started to attend therapy sessions while she was in college. I get that mental illness and psychological services are looked down upon in Korea, but given the background of Mirae's character, I feel like a lot of girls would have been able to resonate with her feelings and experiences.

Also, what I also didn't like was that they made the two female leads attractive. I found Cha Eunwoo's character to be quite unbelievable. Like seriously? the smartest, most popular, most handsome boy in the school doesn't care about what others think and personality over looks? In a perfect world, sure, but for a drama it was unconvincing. It would have been more relatable if Kyeong-seok was in a relationship with Mirae and she DIDN'T get plastic surgery. Or have Mirae get the plastic surgery and end up with a guy who isn't conventionally handsome. I also would have liked if the show went a little bit further into the dynamics between Kyeong-seok and his parents. His mother had abandoned him at a young age and his father was an abusive and manipulative liar who pitted his children against their mother. I liked how towards

"My ID is Gangnam Beauty" lovers. Has the drama affected you in any way? In terms of changing your viewpoints about yourself/the world?

I was honestly surprised to see that the drama didn't connect with that many people as I hoped it would. It's one of my favs. I just wanted to hear more from those who loved this show, why you love it, specifically in terms of how you related/connected to it. thank you!

for context: i think i watched the show at exactly the right time. i was just heading off to college, unsure about myself. but this drama brought into focus a lot of my own issues that i needed to work on. how you need to accept yourself first, before anyone else. how the right people will love you no matter what. how you can't ever please everyone. the drama dealt with so many issues, in such a subtle/real way. even the main male character isn't the typical "in your face rich bad boy". he does have those typical kdrama male lead traits, but he's so much more than that.

TLDR: in summary, the drama taught me a lot about self-acceptance and how a person is more than what first meets the eye.

I just finished My ID Gangnam Beauty SPOILERS

So I’m really surprised to have enjoyed My ID Gangnam Beauty and I’m surprised to have enjoyed it so much. I found parts super cheesy and cringey but that’s what made it so enjoyable.

Before I started the drama all I knew was that the main FL got plastic surgery and the ML was aware of it. I don’t know why but I assumed through the trailers that the ML was a cold guy who treated the FL horribly but the FL would still go to him, kinda like Playful Kiss. I wasn’t a huge fan of Playful Kiss but part of me was curious so I started the drama.

I was so surprised to see that Do Kyung Suk was so nice to Kang Mi Rae, he always talked to her in a gentle voice and looked out for her. And what I LOVED about him was that he isn’t stupid, he saw through everything. He figures things out right away. And I love how patient he is with Kang Mi Rae. Kang Mi Rae was another surprising character. Sure there are times where she needs help and Do Kyung Suk defends her but she stands up for herself which I found so refreshing.

These two were perfect together I just love them, I’m so glad I watched this. I don’t know why I put it off for so long, part of me thought it might be overhyped but it’s actually really good. I feel like it’s a feel-good, super cute drama. It kinda reminds me of romance animes in high school or romance mangas.

It reminded me of Kaichou wa Maid Sama which is an anime and manga and it’s about the main FL who works in a cafe as a maid and the main ML finds out and keeps it a secret since she asked. Both Kang Mi Rae and Do Kyung Suk are both in on a secret and he protects her and looks out for her. I enjoyed this so much but I wish there was a little bit more at the end. But I’m satisfied to be honest. I’m so glad I watched it :)

Unpopular Opinion: Hyun Soo ah from My ID is Gangnam Beauty is one of my favorite Kdrama characters

It’s very clear that nearly everybody who watched this drama hated Hyun Soo ah and she’s one of the most hated characters. When I first watched this drama I had the same opinion.

However, after reconsideration I think she’s one to be empathized with instead of hated to the extent that she is. She is NOT excused for any of the crap she pulled but I think when you see her back story you can understand (but not excuse!) why she is the way she is. People are saying that it’s not like Mirae became a bully but that’s because she had a loving family. Soo ah had nobody that loved her. She basically had to raise herself. It’s only when her mom taught her to bathe and look clean is when she started to receive affection from other people but only because she was pretty. She associates being pretty with being loved. That’s why she’s afraid that if she is overshadowed by someone that she’ll go back to being treated like dirty Soo ah.

She did some terrible things in this drama and I will reiterate that they’re not excused. I’m just glad that in the end she got help. I think she’s a character you should feel sad for instead of hating.

Finished My ID is Gangnam Beauty

Spoilers Ahead:

I really liked this drama. It was a slow burner. It's rare that a drama gets better in the second half, and this one is a slow wait but well worth it. It builds up well to those last 2 episodes. I will admit that during the middle, I found it slow and kinda boring to watch. I got annoyed with Kyung-seok because he was too quiet and borderline seemed to have very little personality, and I also got annoyed with Mi-rae because she cared too much what people thought. It got to the point where I was frustrated with both of them and was yelling "GOD JUST STOP BEING SHY AND DO SOMETHING ALREADY" but I think thats the point.

After finishing it I realized that Kyung-seok is not really cold and aloof, Its that he really doesn't know how to interact with people well. He was a loner. He grew up in a very controlling environment without many friends so I get it why he acts strange.

On the same note, It's understandable just how self-conscious Mi-rae is given her history. As a viewer I want her to break out of her shell and stop being shy, but as a character, I can't expect her to break out of her shell to fast when she still thinks about herself in a negative light

When Mi-rae and Kyung-Seok finally end up together I legit cried because damn, that was a hell of a wait. As a viewer it got tiring to watch but Looking back on it, I this the timeline was understandable.

Hyun Soo-ah in the last episodes wrecked me. I was surprised to see that the drama didn't demonize her because of what she did in the past episodes. They could have easily been "well that's what she gets" and Instead, it was about forgiving and understanding her. I loved the message of trying to understand someone else struggles even if you don't get along with them.

I'm sorry for the long rant, I just felt like I had to get it out...

now to finish The K2. lol

My ID is Gangnam Beauty: I thought it was a such a nice detail of how we don't see Kang Mi Rae's old "ugly" face. (cont.)

I thought it was a such a nice detail of how we don't see Kang Mi Rae's old "ugly" face. Her uglyness was conveyed through people's (and her's) reaction to her face. It could very well be that her face wasn't so bad after all. The topic of discussion was never about outer appearance, but rather about a society obsessed with a particular beauty standard. By letting Mi Rae's old face left to the viewer's imagination, the drama forces us (the audience) to actively engage with the drama's message. Of how this is based off of real life, the drama's message is directed to us as well.

The drama also deals with beauty subjectivity, of how beauty truly lies in the eyes of the beholder. Mi Rae was beautiful to her father and Kyung Seok even before her surgery. In one scene, Mi Rae was confused as to why all the senior guys kept calling a perfectly normal girl "fat". When in her eyes, the girl was cute.

I loved the drama so much, for such a well thought-out and meaningful message. I rewatched it recently, and I loved every bit of it. Definitely one of my top kdramas.

ALSO I LOVE DO KYUNG SEOK SO MUCH. I NEED ME A MAN LIKE HIM!! T-T

Feel free to comment down below of other things you noticed in the drama that you liked! (or just gush about do kyung seok) i would love to read it, since I can't get enough of the show. lol

What would you recommend if I liked Sky Castle, Itaewon Class or My ID is Gangnam Beauty?

This is my top 3 - all great storylines and all able to have tear jerking moments which I loved! Humour, being relatable and also slice of life-y appealed to me.

What would you recommend since I loved these?

Dramas similar to My ID is Gangnam Beauty

I know there is already a post like this on here, but I am looking for something a little different.

I liked the fact that the leads had good chemistry and that most people in the show were like normal I guess. Not many kdramas are "normal", they are often exaggerated and far from reality but I felt like this kdrama was more suited to my tastes than others that I've seen, and that's why I liked it so much. The drama was great and even had a sweet lesson. The leads were so normal, likable, and not irrational. Even "the other guy", the one that also likes the female lead, was normal, kind, and not annoying. Kdramas make me cringe so hard because of my personality but I really like watching romance shows so I can't help it. This show was less cringey and more "normal", the dynamics/relationships between people were fun, and the acting was pretty good. The tension/drama in the show was really lowkey and not that bad and characters in the drama didn't respond in a crazy way either. And I liked that the relationship just worked out well over the course of the show, not because the writers forced them to work out in the last episode all rushed. Another appealing thing was that it was only one person causing all the drama, which for some reason I liked because it's so simple and realistic, not like a huge crime network. It also had a perfect ending where all the drama was resolved and the main leads ended up together and happy, I just wish they got to spend more time together. So cute >~<.

I'm just looking for a romance drama like My ID is Gangnam Beauty:

  • that's cute, normal, not irritating, and pretty chill
  • not super cheesy but cute
  • that's funny or has even some light humor (I thought Mi Rae and Hyun Jung were really funny together, so were other characters)
  • where the characters are nice, likable, funny, normal, simple/realistic, and rational
  • the reason for liking each other makes sense and didn't come out of nowhere
  • with good acting and good chemistry between the leads and all characters/ fun dynamics between characters (like all the characters in this drama are friends and in college together). Characters like Yoo Eun and Jung Boon are so great and wholesome, I love characters like this. >~<
  • where there isn't too much crazy drama between the leads or in general/in the show, just like realistic/simple drama and smooth sailing for the leads (the drama in My ID is gangnam beauty felt better and more realistic since Soo A acted like

My ID is Gangnam Beauty

Hi Everyone!

I just recently got into the Korean Drama world since a lot of my anime was postponed due to Covid-19. Out of the few that I've watch so far this one is probably one of my favorites. Though I have liked most of the popular like Goblin, whats wrong with secretary Kim, and others, this is the one I find myself wanting to re-watch the most.

Now one observation I had during my re-watch of this show was Soo ah kinda sucks and the mostly makes sense since she is basically the antagonist in the show. But one character that seems to be overlooked is Won-ho. I've seen some debate and hate towards Soo ah and I get that. I don't think she is all that attractive so the concept of all the other people liking her didn't make a lot of sense to me in the show but I understand that the concept is her character within the show.

Now Won-ho is literally a despicable human being from the first episode and no one seems to notice or mention him. I mean from the start he judges people based on appearance, is just rude to Mi-rae, and never really develops or changes through the show. I mean one of his first lines in the show is him judging her saying " do you really thing she is pretty," like what kind of dick starts with that. He also never really improves. He repeatedly just badmouths Mi-Rae and Kyung-seok, is pretty much self-centered throughout the show, isn't really a good friend to his homie Sung-woon, and all around doesn't contribute much good to the show.

So yeah, Just as i was re-watching this show I thought i would vent out my frustration on how terrible of a character he is and I was wondering if anyone else thought so as well.

My ID is Gangnam Beauty thoughts

I just finished My ID is Gangnam Beauty and liked it more than I thought. I felt the characters were well thought out and quite consistent in terms of personality. There were character developments which pleasantly surprised me and those that didn’t really show much development didn’t leave a bad feeling cuz it felt realistic. Especially Mirae, I was not expecting her to be so feisty and quick-witted! The confrontations she had with Soo A surprised me as she knew how to stand up for herself. She gave me such a timid and shy first impression so those moments caught me off guard. (In a good wayπŸ˜‰)

Soo A has got to be one of the most annoying characters in the world of kdramas. The only positive thing I can say about her is that her story ended nicely.

As for Mirae and Kyung Seok’s relationship, they were probably the cutest introverted couple I’ve seen on kdramas in awhile :) however, I felt the romance building was too slow at times...the first few times where they were stealing glances was cute but it got frustrating to the point that I wanted one of them to just make the first move already!!! Not to mention, they only had their first kiss scene very late into the drama :/

Overall, this drama has its flaws but I really had a good time watching it. I liked how the stories of most characters ended so that left a satisfying feeling. Tbh, I wasn’t seeing a lot of chemistry (funny cuz they majored in chemistry haha) between the ML and FL but it wasn’t so obvious to the point it felt off putting. They had many adorable moments which made me swoon and cringe simultaneously haha.

Lastly, I think Im Soo Yang did a good job at portraying Mirae’s imperfections and strengths. I could see why Kyung Seok would fall for her. Also, I was never a fan of Cha Eunwoo but I couldn’t help but be in awe at how good-ooking he was in the drama(and in real life). Like this man does not have any bad angles!! So many times I find myself thinking how handsome he is lol. As for acting, he wasn’t as bad I thought he would be. There’s room for improvement for sure.

Anyone else annoyed at the excessive flashbacks in My ID is Gangnam Beauty?

So I just started watching β€˜My ID is Gangnam Beauty’ a couple of days ago and I feel like the story’s moving too slow because of the recurring flashbacks of scenes (most of which happened literally minutes ago!). Don’t get me wrong, I’m liking the story and some of the characters so far but I find myself rolling my eyes whenever a certain character stares blankly at something and then the flashback starts. What’s even more annoying is when a particular scene that already happened get’s a flashback multiple times, often in just a single episode.

Tbh, I’ve only really started getting into KDrama and the first one that I finished was Weightlifting Fairy, so I’m not sure if this is a popular storytelling device in this genre. I’m only on Ep.5 and I’m already getting tired of this. Wish me luck!
