A list of puns related to "Fort William Henry Harrison"
William Henry Harrison was the ninth president of the United States of America, and is best known for being the shortest serving president in American history, serving for only 32 individual days from 1841 March 4th, to 1841 April 4th. During that time, the state of Virginia had three (3) different governors. Let me explain.
The first of these three governors was a man named Thomas Walker Gilmer. He was Virginiaβs 28th governor from 1840 March 31st to 1841 March 20th. The reason he left office was because he decided to run for congress, and won.
Gilmer was succeeded as governor by John Patton, who served as acting governor for 12 days, from 1841 March 20th to 1841 March 31st, finishing out Gilmerβs 1 year term.
Patton was followed by a man named John Rutherfoord, who also served as an acting governor for one year from 1841 March 31st to 1842 March 31st. WHH died on Rutherfoordβs 5th day in office.
Barbara Walters wouldβve been -88 years old when this all went down.
the campaign portrayed him as an every-man, a man born in a log cabin while enjoying the common man's hard cider in the vein of andrew jackson. i heard that van buren was portrayed as being a wealthy elitist who preferred gold spoons in the white house, it is true?
Was there ever a recorded comment he gave to the press about it? Is it documented that he attended the funeral? Iβd imagine thatβs gotta hurt to get kicked out of office by a guy who didnβt even get a presidency of his own.
Most remember him, if at all, as the president whose term only lasted a month (March 1841 - April 1841), as he caught an illness and died.
I've read across multiple sources that the day he was inaugurated, he was sat down for a photo/daguerreotype, but it has since been lost.
Many people online will point to this image: (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4f/William_Henry_Harrison_daguerreotype.jpg)
as the photo in question. But in reality, it's merely a photo of a painting. See:

It is crazy to think the true photo maybe isn't lost forever, and it might be sitting in someone's attic undiscovered. It's happened before that an important piece of history casually winds up in a place you'd never expect it. Share your thoughts below.
I believe it would have had time to form more concrete beliefs but would love to know what your think.
William Henry Harrison, Sixth President of these United States:
Re-elected into office at the age of 52, he held a private inauguration.
Harrison re-entered the Presidency (1) hoping to pass the American Canal System with the popular mandate he was granted. Instead, he was met by surprising opposition over the concerns for funding the ACS. He would see (3) middling success with passing an increase in tariffs, (2) however it would not save the American Canal System.
(3) His attempts to encourage movement into the west would be mildly successful, not seeing the stunning success of the New Philippines and Florida. Few wished to move into the Frigid Wilds of the Canadan (finally remembering to use that term lol) North, nor take the dangerous path to the Pacific.
Harrison (3) attempted to pursue anti-Masonry to appease the Independent Federalists, yet despite such measures being passed, the Independent Federalists refuse to return to the fold.
Ambassador Rufus King was sent to Russia to negotiate over the disputed Territories of the American Northwest. (5) Eventually, they settled on an agreement. The Territories South and East of the Wihal (Irl Columbia) River would be solely American. The Territories North of the Wihal would be Russian, however American settlers would be permitted to settle within itβs bounds, so long as they follow the Laws of Russia.
Harrison would, last, but not least, pursue the enforcement of the Gradual Abolition amendment, (4) ensuring that most of those eligible were at the very least free from bondage. However, the issue of where freedmen go next is still unresolved, with many simply returning to near-slavery upon gaining their freedom, and if not, facing immense prejudice.
Some additional events include; The establishment of the town of Jackson, New Philippines, as the Capital of the State. The Formation of the League of Freedmen Settlers, (5) which has seen many Freedmen settling of their own according in the far west, especially the Oregon Territory, as their βNew Providenceβ.

The Foreboding Rolls: 1β¦ 1β¦
William Henry Harrison, Sixth President of these United States:
Entering into office at the age of 44, he held a private inauguration.
For the second time in a row, the Incumbent has been saddled with a member of the opposition as his running mate. His (2) attempts to raise tariffs, mainly edged on by party leaders, would fall flat. However, on his way south to meet with Senators over a plan for the re-chartering of the National Bank, he would be met with an ambush.
His carriage would be attacked and his most of his guards incapacitated, leaving the President alone in the forest, surrounded by men who wished to see him dead. (5) What happened next would become the stuff of myth. President Harrison, armed with a single pistol and knife would hold off the Native Ambush singlehandedly for an hour, before reinforcements from a nearby town evacuated him as his guard to safety.
With the attempt on his life foiled, (5) President Harrison would return to Washington with immense political capital in his sails, successfully securing a bipartisan rechartering and expansion of the National Bank with the help of his Vice President.
(5) In pursuing the constitution of Burrβs internal improvement plans, he would also see immense success, managing to pass the most extensive plan in American History, seeking to connect the new territories of the nation, truly.
(4) As well, he would finally bring Ohio into the Union as a state, managing to clear the deadlock which had denied the state he could call home representation for so long.
(4) Harrison would manage to at least bring well needed funding to the National Academy, (4) found the National Observatory, (5) and successfully greatly expand the National Library (4) as well as the National University.
His Efforts to bring people to settle the (5) New Philippines and (5) Florida would be immensely successful, managing to bring the territories into statehood by the end of his term.
(I rolled for these four & the two state population growths in bulk I have no idea how he got this lucky, I swear.)
(1) Oh yea but the economy kinda kept going down.

With the economy in decline, Harrison and the National Federalists pursued a number of goals, (5) successfully passing Federally backed Subsidies, (5) a large increase in tariffs, (1) and a Tax on Domestic Goods, including distilled Spirits. However, the latter provoked a violent reaction amidst many of the populace.
In reaction, President Harrison enacted the Militia Act for the first time, sending a force under the control of General William Hull [Taylor wasnβt close to being a General this time] to put down the Spirits Rebellion. (1) However, despite high hopes, Hull would be utterly unsuccessful, even leading to the evacuation of government institutions in Philadelphia, which would fall in the Climax of the campaign.
(1) In the aftermath of the fall of the city, it was looted, with large parts of the city burning down. Independence Hall would itself collapse after catching firing during the βPillage of Philadelphiaβ. Governor William Findlay failed to flee the city before itβs fall, and was killed during the fighting.
Realizing the utter crisis the nation was facing, President Harrison would call up the remaining forces, and personally lead the rest of the Campaign. (5) The effort, despite the damage it caused, would be successful. The Rebellion would be crushed by the end of 1817. Hull would (1) flee the country after being court marshaled, narrowly evading capture [being pursued by his Nephew, Commodore Isaac Hull] and settling in the Spanish court. He would be sentenced to death in absentia.
Following the crisis, Harrison would pursue, in collaboration with his once Vice President and current Political Rival, John C. Calhoun, a plan of Military preparedness. (4) In a Bipartisan effort, and with a clear need showcased by both domestic and foreign threats, the selection of plans managed to pass with relative ease.
Harrisonβs efforts to negotiate with the Cherokee would (3) prove to be middling. While the overall effort would lean towards successful, managing to secure a treaty, many of the Cherokee did not go peacefully. Despite some protests from those within his own party, he ordered the deployment of forces to βencourageβ the Cherokee to go peacefully.
(5) This effort would prove a success, with most, if reluctantly, moving beyond the Mississippi, following the terms of the Treaty. (4) The effort would be
