A list of puns related to "Foghat (1972 album)"
I posted this in a different sub last night and it got a lot of traction but ultimately was removed (personal promotion since I'm a band member's son). I thought I'd try again here.
My dad had an amazing band in 1972, and at the time they were given what was the largest recording contract in Canadian rock history. They wound up getting an album almost ready for release but struggled to find a commercial hit, and gradually they fell apart. My dad always had regrets about the album not being cut, but he did have all the tracks.
42 years later he had the tracks remastered and a record company turned it into an album. Since its release a few years ago, some radio stations have picked it up calling it the 'most amazing music we've never heard'. They even had one song in the background of a feature film.
Here's a link to the album's bandcamp page.

Hope you like it! My dad would love to hear some thoughts, I'll relay any comments to him.
Welcome to the 1972 nomination thread. We'll theoretically have someone else taking the reigns on these AOTY survivors as /u/generationendhatred is taking a bit of a mental health break, so there might be some inconsistencies going forward. We're gonna try our best to keep it going though. Her Patreon link is linked at the bottom of the post if anyone is interested in helping her out.
Here are some resources to help you nominate some albums:
Wikipedia list of some notable 1972 albums
All nominations must follow the format of Artist - Album
, or at least name both the artist and album names.
While I'll try to remove any duplicates, some will inevitably slip through the cracks. To avoid a situation in which one album misses out on nomination just because its upvotes were split between two comments, please use Ctrl+F to see if the album you want to nominate has already been nominated. If you see two comments for the same album that you want to get in, upvote both.
Please make sure the albums you nominate are actually from the year 1972.
Live albums, EPs, and mixtapes are eligible for nomination. Compilation records that are created as a greatest hits record, bootleg, or archival will be excluded. Label or soundtrack albums, (Black Panther, Cruel Summer, Dreamgirls, etc.) or otherwise cohesive, collective studio efforts (A Christmas Gift from Phil Spector) are fine.

Saw it written and I saw it say, Nick Drake - Pink Moon has gone on its way.
David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust is our 1972 Album of the Year!

The top-seeded album won every matchup this time. Once again, Bowie dominated with 92% of the vote. The closest matchup was won by Steely Dan, who beat Stevie Wonder by 11 votes. It's time to save two albums.

Y'all voted for the best albums of 1972, and things mostly played out as expected. The biggest landslide was unsurprisingly David Bowie, who beat Pink Floyd with over 92% of the vote. The closest match was between Stevie Wonder and NEU!, in which Stevie upset the krautrockers by 3 votes.
In watching the results come through, I saw 99% of the responses come in the first 24 hours. I included a question at the bottom of the poll asking if you guys want to change the bracket and lifesaver rounds to 24h instead of 48h.
