A list of puns related to "Fairfield Community Theatre"
I am needing some recommendations for plays for a community theatre. It needs to fit these guidelines:
If any clarification is needed, please let me know!
ETA:
The town is a small, Midwest town. There is some diversity (not enough to cast an entire cast of POC, but enough to probably fill 1-2 roles of any type). The audience will be casual theatre fans.
Any genre is welcome! I can present anything I want to the board, so long as it meets the above criteria. Also I will accept plays for any age. Iβm a woman in my early 20s though and this is community theatre, so please keep in mind certain people might be less inclined to listen to me than others.
I am a 23 year old woman that has very minimal amateur experience in theatre. I had the opportunity to act in some church produced musicals as a child, and I was in Choir every year in high school. While I wasn't allowed to stay after school in high school for theatre, I did take drama class every single year and got pretty invested in even small projects. I also was advised that I have a pretty good classical voice, and at the point my vocals were most trained I got a lot of compliments for how wide my vocal range was
I don't have a lot of good childhood memories, but singing and taking part in creating a show was an amazing outlet and I miss it.
So I'm a bit interested in community theatre stuff since things are close to being back to normal where I am, but I'm anxious over if I'd have much chance at being accepted for such. It seems most of the programs are aimed at children and teens, and adults are mostly expected to just... Audition. I feel like I should be involved in some other way before that, especially since I would need to practice and re-learn a number of things.
I fear that there's not going to be much space for a grown adult like me, as I'm sure plenty of these people have some training or even were once children in summer camp programs and the like that grew up with the theatres.
I suppose it's worth noting that theatre stuff at the college is not an option for me: I started working after graduating high school and college was never an option for my career, much less for pursuing the performing arts. But as of a few months ago I "upgraded" to an 8am-5pm job with weekends off, so evening activities throughout the week are feasible for me for the first time in my adult life.
Sorry if this is a bit scattered. I would appreciate any advice or suggestions!
Hello people of Eugene!
With COVID finally nearing its end, I thought I'd put this out there. I've done a lot of theatre in the past but it's been a few years since I've done anything. I'm really wanting to get involved again. Or just make friends within the community. I don't really know anybody in the theatre community here in Eugene, as my community was back in Minnesota. I've been feeling a bit lonesome lately, as everybody in my circle around here isn't really into theatre and so I have nobody to really geek out with.
Is there anybody in this sub who is a apart of the community here and would be willing to meet up? I know that Game Pub in Downtown used to do musical theatre karaoke nights, although I don't know if they still do. I feel like I haven't heard about that place in a long time. But anyways, if anybody has any leads feel free to comment :)
EDIT: Feel free to message me! I'm not one to object to private messages! :)
Hi! I'm planning a move to LA this summer from Boston. I'm a 30yo singer, and would love to join a choir or audition for local community musical theatre productions when it becomes safe to do so. I have a day job that I love so I'm not necessarily looking for something pro, but I'm fairly decent/have been in choirs and musicals before. What's the best place to look to get involved in something like this? I'm also open to non-musical community theatre, but singing is definitely my love for sure.
Thanks!
I know NYC is obviously full of theatre, but most groups Iβm finding are for professional actors. Especially since many companies closed during the pandemic, does anyone know of any groups that are auditioning?
If you're looking for a fun, easy winter breadth, I highly recommend this subject. It's an Education subject, which tend to have a reputation for being easier than others, it's only a week long, so it'll be done with quickly, and it's insanely fun! I've done a subject with the same structure and everyone in class agreed it was our most fun, relaxing subject during semester 1.
(I'm giving it a plug because 1. I genuinely think it's an amazing subject 2. I need to do this subject as a prereq for my masters so I am dying for it to go ahead lol)
TL;DR: easy H1 and it's fun, sign up asap
UPDATE: it was cancelled fml π₯²
This might be a little bit random, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about community theatres in the city where amateur actors could audition/perform in shows. I tried a Google search, but came up with so many results that I'm not really sure what's what. Any guidance would be very much appreciated. :)
Are there community musical theatre group that uses community musicians as well? (Or any other performance group that uses musicians) I like to play single instrument parts on keyboard. For example I might play the first violin part and play the other string parts where I can.
I'm not a professional. I can't play very fast runs, but I can play most stuff. I'm not perfect and do make mistakes but recover well.
I can read lead sheets.
I've helped out with the local high school and wondered where else I might be able help out.
