A list of puns related to "Ethyl acrylate"
Today I decided to clean my glass and one of my flasks was full of methyl methacrylate crosspolymer that sticks to the wall of the flask. Anyway Best method that worked was to fil with saturated naoh solution and boil, it fall of and was easely removed but interresting thing happend, there was some of the nitroethane left in there and solution turned yellow i thought it was naoh reacting with nitro to form a salt but when i stopped it smelled ammonia like so i took a paper soaked in HCl and it started fumeing as i have bring it close to the solution which indicate that amine was pressent. Anyone knows what happend here? Beside nitro and acrylate there was some ethyl formate and butanol.
So... I may or may not have been keeping a weather eye on upcoming SPF releases ever since Director Ahn In-Sook mentioned in passing in a video that many cosmeceutical brands have either put a stopper on releasing new sunscreens or postponed the release of those awaiting completion to better the formula and ensure they're up to snuff, thus there will be a slew of SPF releases come March. Heaven forfend we suffer the wrath of deadly solar lasers cuz finding The One is nothing short of a bluidy struggle.
What I've noted in these new releases was a combination of robust formulas and new filters. Exciting! I've already translated the INCI lists and entered them into Incidecoder & Cosdna. Okay, enuff intro. Have a look-see at some of the freshest sun armours to keep safe from baneful UV rays.

A lot of people have suggested Acrylic (Plexiglass/Perspex) dissolved in Acetone, because supposedly that's basically Minwax Wood hardener.
I don't have any Acetone lying around, but I do have a lot of MEK and Ethyl Acetate, so I was wondering if there would be any downsides to dissolving the Acrylic in either one of those and using that as a stabiliser?
Here is the routine that my skin has come to make peace with since the last 8 months after years of perfunctory experiments it endured. I have also incorporated the Be Minimalist's AA & TXA serums since 20/02/2021 into my routine,so they are being reviewed here while the CTM+sunscreen products have gained my trust enough to be holy grail(s)! You can fill yourself in regarding my skin type and concerns by reading this and consider the routine to be nothing greater than anecdotal evidence :)

It is naturally wavy, and sits just below the nape of my neck/lightly on my shoulders. It the strands are pretty fine, but my hair is very dense, and I have a lot of it. My roots are usually fairly shiny, and moisturized(?) while from mid shaft down is pretty dry. I found a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner from Hawthorne for $32 for both, but I don't know anything about ingredients pretty much, other than to avoid things like sulfates if I can, and was wondering if this is something that is bad for, and would damage my hair. The ingredients for both are:

My girlfriend got the following nail polish: https://www.pinkmelon.de/test/make-up-2/naegel/ueberlack-3/essence-the-gel-nail-top-coat.html

How can I ensure that this stuff is safe to apply on the small components around the CPU/GPU for liquid metal application? meaning that it's not electrically conductive, and not corrosive.

Hey gang, I'm an engineer who's completely new to 3D UV resin printing. I have read a lot of posts of people saying "just buy disposable nitrile gloves and throw them out the instant you get any resin on them", but my safety-conscious and environmentalist sides aren't happy with that. I have discovered that butyl rubber gloves are some of the best for chemicals handling, but they are hideously expensive. Cheapest is Β£30 + postage for 1 pair, most expensive are Β£280/pair. O_O
The chemicals I would have contact with would be isopropyl alcohol 99% (for resin clean-up) and the following chemicals seems to be common in photosensitive 3D printing resins: acrylate monomer, acrylated urethane polymer, morpholine, tripropylene glycol diacrylate, phosephine oxide, pentaerythritol, 4-methoxyyphenol, methacrylic oligomer, glycol methacrylate, urethane acrylate oligomer, benzoxazole, phosphine oxide.
I came across these Ansell AlphaTec 02-100 'barrier' gloves, which are a LLDPE laminated film and can be worn as a liner or on their own. The rating on them is EN 374-1:2016/Type A ABCEFGHIMS, where the string of letters at the end are for the different chemical types they're resistant to. They have breakthrough times of >480 minutes for Acetone, Acetonitrile, Carbon Disulfide, Diethylamine, Ethyl Acetate, Hydrofluoric Acid, Methanol, Nitric Acid, 65%, Tetrahydrofuran and Toluene.
I would love to get some input from a chemist, rather than a backyard 3D printing enthusiast. ;)
Any help in selection would be greatly appreciated!
All the best, Dax.
I recently was finally able to get conclusive information about exactly what chemicals in nail products that I'm allergic to (HEMA and ethyl-acrylates) so I'm wondering if anyone knows of companies that make their ingredients easily accessible? Some are easy to contact; Makartt emailed me back within HOURS with the info sheet for their products, which unfortunately I cannot use. But the if I can just see that info right on line, this would be the easiest for me. Any help would be appreciated, thanks so much!

Ok, hopefully this will be a bit less mentally taxing for me to write and you to read than the last post. The context to this post is that I removed my sunblock from the refrigerator today and happened to notice a large number of potentially interesting chemical names on the ingredients list. Depending on how large and interesting these molecules end up being, I may have to split this into more than one post. Anyway, the active ingredients are avobenzone 2.5%, homosalate 5%, octisalate 4%, octocrylene 3%, and oxybenzone 4%. Please note that they are listed in alphabetical order rather than by the amount of each. I will also mention that this particular sunblock is spf 30 and was the fairly expensive βclear faceβ/βbreak-out freeβ kind that still feels a bit nasty to have on your skin. The common theme between the active ingredients here is extensive charge delocalization, which is necessary to allow the selective absorption of ultraviolet photons before they can cause damage to your skin. As you may remember, due to the way that quantum mechanics work each orbital can only hold two electrons. This means that the molecular orbitals of molecules with extensive charge delocalization need to have multiple bonding orbitals between multiple atoms. Also, charge delocalization occurs in pi systems, so we are dealing with combinations of unhybridized p-orbitals here. The lowest energy/most bonding pi molecular orbital will be the orbital with all of the p-orbitals that can participate in a particular pi bonding system in the same phase. After that, we need to start applying symmetry operations to generate the other bonding orbitals and then eventually the anti-bonding orbitals, but in the case of a planar pi bonding system the only change that we can make to generate molecular orbitals is to flip the phase of one or more of the p-orbitals that we are combining into the molecular orbitals.
The point of all of the preceding discussion is that we will end up with a number of filled bonding pi molecular orbitals of gradually increasing numbers of discontinuities and energy and a number of empty anti-bonding pi molecular orbitals with even less in phase p-orbital overlap and even higher energies. However, in pi bonding systems the highest energy molecular orbital that has electrons will be generally similar to the lowest energies molecular

I am having problems conducting a heck reaction with my research. It is a heck reaction between an electron deficient Ar-Br to be coupled with ethyl acrylate. I am using pure tetrakis triphenylphosphinepalladium(0) that I made myself and the reaction is done neat (TEA and the ethyl acrylate dissolved everything) under atmospheric conditions, Nitrogen or Argon at 100C.
The reaction has been conducted with various equivalents of base and catalyst, and each time its results in the formation of "palladium black" (not to sure what that is tbh), and TLC and NMR confirm little conversion of starting material to product after 18 hours.. Anyone have any suggestions as to what could be going wrong?

Go post NSFW jokes somewhere else. If I can't tell my kids this joke, then it is not a DAD JOKE.
If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,

Hi fellow skincare addicts!
Edit: These are not 'new' but in the wake of the Purito controversy I think a lot of people are tying to find sunscreens they can trust. I'm not aware of any independent studies on Daylong but their filters are top of the line + I've had a really good experience with them so I thought I would do this review for you guys :)
I'm honestly a little surprised how little talk there is about these sunscreens, because they do the job fairly well, performance and ingredients wise. I'm talking about the Daylong Face Sensitive (normal to oily skin) and Daylong Extreme (face milk version, for dry to very dry skin). They are both broad spectrum SPF 50. They both claim to be water and sweat proof (I have never really put these particular claims to the test, but fyi).
My skin type: .... weird. I am 30+, rosacea prone, and my skin has changed a lot in the past couple of years, it's an absolute nightmare. Everything looks shiny on me no matter what, so I try to that into account for reviews XD I don't wear makeup very often, and my routine at the moment is toner + lotion + moisturizer (+squalane if needed), with little variation. Also I have light skin (FP scale 2).
EDIT: Forgot to mention that where I live it's very sunny and mostly dry all year round. Tested these this winter, maybe I'll do another little post about them in the coming summer.
Anyway, the review now!

Keep in mind, my son is 4 years old, so everything is an original to him.
I had to work late into the evening yesterday, and he was just going to bed when I got home. I had left home for the office nearly 14 hours prior, had a long day, lots of meetings, traffic, etc.
When I walked through the door, I was exhausted, run down, and starving. My wife hugged me and asked how my day was, and I replied, "Done. It was a good day, but has got me exhausted. I just want to grab a bite and go to bed. I'm hungry."
From my son's bedroom, I hear him shout, "Hi Hungry! Nice to meet you!"
Not only did it make me laugh, but I completely forgot about how hungry and tired I was. I went to his bedroom, and we laughed together about it. It was exactly what I needed.
Edit: Thanks for all the awards, kind strangers! I'll let my son know y'all enjoyed his joke too!
