A list of puns related to "Eternal Love (TV series)"
I just finished watching Eternals, and Iโm very disappointed. Iโm a big fan of the Eternals comics - both Jack Kirbyโs original run, and the modern era (especially Neil Gaimanโs amazing run). For me, what makes the Eternals so interesting is two main things: the complex cosmic mythology and existential crises that go along with it, and the well-crafted characters who, despite their god-like powers, have enough individuality and personality to feel real and understandable.
I think the film faltered on both of these. Not only did they try to cram too much mythology and world building into one movie, they also made lots of changes to the lore that made it more generic and less interesting. Instead of being offshoots of humanity with a real stake in the fate of the planet Earth, the Eternals are some kind of alien robots who are constantly reset and sent to other planets. Instead of being unique sentient beings with clear motivations, the Deviants (with the exception of Kro) are mindless beasts. Instead of using planets as experiments and judging the results, the Celestials use them to give birth to new Celestials. Perhaps most importantly, the ETERNALS werenโt eternal. I wouldโve thought this would be the easiest thing to not get wrong, considering that itโs literally in the name, but the Eternals arenโt supposed to die. I know that in the comics it is possible for them to die if their healing technology isnโt working, but the fact that this technology simply didnโt exist in the MCU, and they seemed as easy to kill as any other super-powered being, had me wondering why theyโre even called Eternals. None of these changes add anything fresh or exciting to the lore - they just feel like someone has skimmed the first paragraph of the Eternals Wikipedia page, and then tried to make it work as a generic superhero movie.
Similarly, none of the characters felt like real people with serious emotions and goals. Ajakโs motivation to rebel against the Celestials might have worked if we had seen her slowly change her mind over the centuries, but all we had was one line about seeing the Avengers bring people back. Ikrais having a change of heart at the end made zero sense, and happened with essentially no explanation. None of the characters were fleshed out enough, and I didnโt feel like I really knew any of them. For a story about such powerful beings to work, them having some sense of relatability is key. Imagine if Superman didnโt have his humanity and relatability

It will overall follow the same plot as the film. As Sersi reconnects with each Eternal, it will cut back and forth between the present and flashbacks explaining that Eternal's backstory and giving them character development that the film didn't have the time to do.
Episode 1: Sersi
So the film makes it clear that she has always loved humanity through the dialogue, but we don't to actually get to see that happen. So her episode will show her throughout history loving humanity, constantly being in awe of what they're capable of. It will also show how she fell in love with Ikaris, and how heartbroken she was when he left her, and how she was able to eventually move on from him and fall in love Dane.
Episode 2: Sprite
Again because of the time limit of the film, they have to straight up tell us important things about her character, like her feelings for Ikaris and how frustrated she is that she doesn't age. In her episode, we'll be able to show these things and not have to just say it. We'll also see when Kingo abandoned her, something that is mentioned in the film, but not shown.
Episode 3: Kingo
It would be amazing to see him becoming a movie star and how he's been able to keep the cover story of him just being a legacy actor going on. It will also further explain why he wants to be a star. We'll also get to see more of his valet, Karun, an unexpected highlight of the film. Also, in the film, he's extremely loyal to Ikaris for reasons never explained and calls him "boss", despite the fact that he was never the one in charge. His episode will give the context to explain that.
Episode 4: Thena and Gilgamesh
Their story is very intertwined, so the episode would be devoted to both of them. It will show how they fell in love with each other. There will be signs of Thena having mental issues so that her Mahd Wy'ry doesn't just come out of nowhere like in the film. It will also show how they lived together and how they dealt with the illness.
Episode 5: Druig
(mostly written by /u/cbekel3618) This show how he loves humanity, but worries that they're going to destroy themselves. He gets more and more fed up with Ajak's rules about no interventions, until finally it leads up to the scene on Tenochtitlan from the film. After there, he starts to take ov

It was fresh telling it's story in a nonlinear way feeling more like a science fiction epic than an mcu movie taking inspiration from Ridley Scott, Denis Villeneuve with splashes of Zack Snyder thrown in and I thought the film was wonderful. I liked that I didn't need to have solo films Zhou and Fiege just made a movie and trusted the audience to like and get the characters on screen. There's a sense of genuine emotional sincerity and maturity. People have sex in this movie. Gay people exist and Marvel handles this stuff with care and maturity. It'll actually look good in 30 years because of the practical sets and environments. Movies look better when you mix cg with real environments matrix 1999 and Lord of Rings are prime examples 20-30 years old and look great till this day. What Eternals is, is a philosophical and religious debate and Chloe builds the characters and story around this debate I personally felt every character I loved and understood why and how they felt and imo it worked. The film was lovely and underrated.
English isn't my native language (not even my second language). But I do love to watch british series in english and if available with subtitles(not often the case somehow). Imagine my confusion when a unrelated looking 30 year old calls the older women character Mom. Because it didn't happen to often on my viewings (maybe Ma'am isn't that common) I was confused but I put it always aside as me being not attentive enough. Only with the magic of subtitles was I able to understand how much of an moron I was.
He was tired of being pushed around
Implied here is โฆ no episodic series (eg Law And Order)
We enjoy Drama Crime, Nordic Noir, etc.
No SciFi or Fantasy Dramas
Subtitles are perfectly fine
Thanks
I watched Eternals last night. I felt neither here nor there about it. Certainly, not inspired but was trying to put my finger on why. Would like to hear other people's reactions? Help me understand why the film has attracted so much dislike.
So my brother tonight is sitting down to watch Star Wars IV with his son for the first time and we were talking about shows that we wish we could see again for the first time.
So I ask you, what is the one TV series you wish you could rewatch but with fresh eyes for the first time?
Something similar to Peaky Blinders, Hannibal or Breaking Bad would be ideal.
Edit: Thanks for the responses. After much careful consideration I have decided to go with The Wire
I don't know if this question has been asked before but I will ask it anyway. What movie do you think would have been better suited as a TV Series?
Some films try to cram wayyyyy too much into too little and feel overstuffed as a result, personally, I think the recent Matt Damon film Stillwater would have been better as a crime miniseries since there was just too much put into the film it felt overstuffed and questions were left unanswered
What films would you say?
2016 is one of my GOATs too
I need a new tv as my current one doesnโt have 4K. Should I look at getting a tv with the 2.1 hdmi? Or with 120hz? I donโt know too much about TVs. Will a 4K 60fps tv do?
We just finished the second season and I feel like the second season is just as good if not better than the first season. I've read the books up to where they're at in the show. There's a lot of changes, especially in the second season, mainly expanding and adding characters (the broad strokes are still pretty similar), but I think overall they're more positive than negative. What does everyone else think?
I have a 13 year old Deaf sister. She's been Deaf all her life. We watch a lot of movies together. It's one of the things she can actually enjoy doing with other people. We've seen all the Marvel movies and series and she's watched them too. Anyway. When she saw Hawkeye was hearing impaired she beamed with a smile because she felt he was like her now. I too love how the show handles deaf and hearing impaired characters. It really gives representation to the deaf and hearing impaired people in the super hero world.
Just wanted to share as this was something that just made me smile.
