Disqualification of Jackie Robinson West Little League from the 2014 Little League World Series Puns

They broke boundary rules (the kids weren't all from the same area of Chicago). Unfortunate for the kids but they cheated and I think this punishment is fair

Just a random thought I had today when I was reflecting on his career when I found out about his death. I'm not even remotely close to old enough to have watched him as a player, and there were a plethora of other players who exploded on the scene at the same time who also produced once-in-a-lifetime career numbers like he did, but I'm intrigued by the stories I've read surrounding his playing career, and he has a great deal of achievements and distinctions to his name:

• Currently the only player in MLB history to win the MVP award in both leagues
• MLB's first ever African-American manager, and currently the 55th winningest manager in MLB history with 1,065 wins
• Was among the first African-American players to come up through the league's minor league system, instead of the Negro Leagues - eventually bursting onto the scene by setting the then-Major League record for homeruns in a Rookie season (while also winning the ROY award that year)
• Became a civil rights advocate after experiencing segregation during his time playing for Baltimore, and there are stories (like one told by former O's teammate Jim Palmer, via MLB Now) that he played a large role in the MLB becoming more inclusive from a player interaction standpoint.
• As an MLB executive vice president of baseball operations in his later years, he continued to strive for more incusiveness by focusing on getting more African American participation in the league.

I made this post mainly as a discussion piece to see what everyone's perspective is on Robinson's legacy as a player, but I'm also doing this in the hopes of learning more about the type of person he was in the guise of others: those who grew up back when he was in his prime, and others who grew up in baseball households with parents who may told them about Robinson's achievements, or struggles he faced back in the 60s when segregation was still being heavily combated by civil rights enthusiasts.

Of course, I can't compare Frank Robinson's impact to Jackie Robinson's and neither will I try to, but I feel like the baton was passed on to Frank at a time where the MLB was slowly but surely becoming more racially inclusive, and he went on to become a trailblazer and universal role model in his own right.

What are your thoughts on if the league decided to immortalize Frank Robinson like they have with Jackie?

I’m 25 yrs old and they have been airing it since before I was born .I don’t think anyone cares about it anymore .Majority of people that do watch espn don’t have interest in it .I have been watching ESPN since I was 6 and had some interest in llws but it always aired when I was at school ...So why does ESPN still air this garbage..low level children’s baseball?Im thinking it’s maybe nostalgia for some older dudes ?

12. Walk out onto the football stadium (I would’ve loved this as a little one). The gate is open 24/7 and is really cool to see at night.
