A list of puns related to "Diastolic heart murmur"
I understand why it nwould cause fixed splitting, but I don't know why it causes the other things.
During systole, the atria arent contracting so i would imagine there's a lack of force that would generate the turbulent flow.
Is there a resource that gives the mechanisms of what causes these murmurs/sounds? UFAPS seems to be lacking in this area. Lily's is a lot more thorough but still doesnt seem to cover everything.
The popular ARMS PaRTS mnemonic only includes diastolic murmurs so I created a systolic murmur mnemonic and combined the two mnemonics into one image. Moreover, I added images to help with recall.
Systolic and Diastolic Murmurs Mnemonics
I hope this helps.
I always get the murmur of mitral stenosis mixed up with regurg because my brain listens to the murmur first which makes my monkey brain think that its a systolic murmur

While talking about the aortic regurgitation during a lecture, our professor said that the diastolic murmur gets shorter as the regurgitation becomes more severe, since a worse valve allows a greater blood flow and the pressure in the LV is thus able to reach the same value as the aortic pressure more quickly, ending the regurgitation faster. I'm convinced by this argument, but the textbook (an Italian internal medicine book) says that the murmur gets longer as the severity increases, with no explaination. Someone asked for a clarification, but the professor just said that the textbook was wrong, repeating his reasoning. Yesterday, I skimmed through the aortic regurgitation chapter in Harrison's principles of internal medicine in search for a confirmation about the subject, but even there it's written that "as the severity increases, it generally becomes louder and longer, indeed holodiastolic" (again, without a justification).
Now I ask you, do you know which answer is the right one? And if the textbooks are right, would you mind explaining to me why that's the case?
TL;DR: basically the title. Anyone here have diastolic heart failure along with/associated with their SSc? How is it being treated if so?
So as not to double post - while I'm here thought I'd also ask if anyone here has anemia related to their SSc, if so what is the "mechanism" so to speak?

Greetings all. It's been a rough year, to put it mildly. I'm new to this disease and many other things as well. It has all collectively taken me to my knees. I got double (now triple) "whammied" and more hits keep coming, I don't know what is related to the SSc or separate basically, I'm so confused and lost.
I meet with the cardiologist next week for a plan going forward. I'm wondering if SSc could be the cause of this bc I sure as heck have no idea what else could be causing this - if so what role would my rheumatologist play here? Or would it just be

I visited the doctor last week in regard to a swollen lymph node that hasn't gone away, and, during a regular examination, the doctor noticed that he heard what might be a systolic murmur. No doctors in the past have noticed this, but the doctor mentioned that sometimes a systolic murmur can be misheard if the patient just has a strong heartbeat.
I was taking a look at my reported vitals and noticed that my measured blood pressure (both systolic and diastolic) were around 20 Hg lower than the several last times that had been measured. The last six visits to the doctor where blood pressure was measured put my BP around 117/65. (Note: these last six visits were between 1/1/2016 and 7/14/2017, so my heart health may have changed since then?). Here's a handy chart: https://imgur.com/a/EHpZqdO The most recent visit (to my new doctor) was a 96/52. The appointment was at 9:00 AM (which from what I've read, if you'll excuse my ridiculous hypochondria, is when your BP should be the highest during the day).
I have a family history of high blood pressure on my dad's side.
I've just switched doctors, so I'm not sure if they've received/looked at my health records yet.
I'm no doctor, so, for all I know, the systolic murmur and my systolic BP could be unrelated/coincidental. But I would bet they're not, and I'm feeling impatient and have been pretty anxious in regard to my health recently, so I'd love to know if this is something I don't need to worry about.
I'm going back in a month for a teeth cleaning but now I'm more concerned about the heart murmur. I was caught off guard and didn't think what to ask at the time. I'll be going back to get xrays before the cleaning but I'm confused because isn't a heart murmur a big deal? I read online there can be treatment for it and it's serious. The vet mentioned it but didn't say anything else just that we need xrays before getting a cleaning. Shouldn't I be more concerned about this? The vet made it sound like it's not a big deal.
Hello. I love my dog second only to my husband. She's a 6.5 year old Japanese Spitz spayed female. She's very healthy in general. Last week during a regular vet checkup, the vet said she heard a slight heart murmur. My dog has no clinical signs of heart issues, and the murmur is new. After an x-ray that showed no fluid around her lungs, the vet said the stage was 2. She recommended we be proactive and see a doggy cardiologist, and we agree. The doggy cardiologist didn't have a free appointment until June. I booked it, and I also made an appointment with another vet at the same office as my dog's regular vet (per the recommendation of my dog's vet) because she has more knowledge of cardiological issues. That appointment is in 2 weeks.
I'm not here for medical advice as I trust my dog's vet and her recommendations. I suppose I'm here for assurance and solace. I can't imagine anything bad happening to my fur baby :( I'm terrified. Perhaps I need to get some more counseling to deal with anxiety. Still, if anyone has a similar experience and their dog is thriving, I would love to hear it.

15 year old male, 5β9 150 lbs.
Pretty healthy and exercise almost every day. Not overweight. Went to the doctors about a month ago due to contracting HFMD. Discovered a heart murmur, so an EKG was scheduled. Had my physical in the summer with no heart murmur whatsoever. The pediatric analysis included this.
: ISOLATED EXCESSIVE R WAVE VOLTAGE LEAD V6 - SUGGESTS LVH.
Should I be worried at all? Iβve been exercising through all of this and have had no shortness of breath, chest pain/tightness, fatigue, etc. Feel perfectly fine. Any idea what could be going on? Heard sometimes EKGβs point this out and Echoβs show no LVH, or very mild cases. Never had any health hiccups before, this kind of came out of nowhere. Going to get echo in a couple of weeks. Any replies are appreciated.
Wife brought our two dogs to the vet yesterday for a routine checkup. Our 4 year old was found to have a heart murmur. It could be nothing, but iβm scared out of my mind and have to be strong because my wife is a mess. Ive lost a dog before and didnt take it great. This guy thoughβ¦.. I know he could be just fine. We are getting more tests done. Im just so scared to lose my little guy.
Sheβs my first dog I ever got, my best friend and my protector. Jackie is a 13.5 year old dog and so far has had no health issues aside from that one time she swallowed a bee. I had to rush her to an emergency vet on Christmas Day and they diagnosed her with a grade 1 heart murmur. Does anyone have any experience with this? What can I expect? Iβm terrified to lose her.
My sweet 13 y.o. doxieβs heart murmur has progressively worsened, and a month ago the vet said itβs progressed to stage 6. At the time there was no fluid in this lungs.
Beginning yesterday, seemingly out of the blue, his heart-related coughing has worsened. Heβs been having long, frequent bouts of much more intense coughing. It appears painful. Itβs continued through the night.
Heβs still eating and drinking, and always sleeps a lot.
What I want to understand is when should I consider saying goodbye? Iβm hoping the more intense coughing magically goes away, but if it doesnβtβ¦ I donβt want him to be in pain for weeks on end.
Can anyone advise here?
My kitty is 13. We found out at our last vet visit she has a heart murmur and should get an echo done- which will cost $800. She just had blood work and vet visit at $350, and needs a teeth cleaning at $400. We just had a baby and am a little stressed about costs. But, I love her so much. Iβm wondering if anyone elseβs cat had a murmur and what was your experience/outcome?
Hi all, Iβm 28F and was told I have a heart murmur. I did all the tests the cardiologist asked and they were all normal. Iβm also not anemic and TSH was ok. So what could be causing it?
My 13.5 year old foxie x has just been diagnosed with a level one heart murmur, sheβs being put on tablets to reduce the fluid buildup. No other bad health problems.
Is there any timeframe for if it might get worse? The life expectancy? Sheβs my first dog and just the thought of losing her makes me cry so Iβd like to have some sort of preparation if she wonβt survive much longer.

I was officially diagnosed yesterday with long covid. They put me through a gamut of tests, but it appears I've developed a heart murmur that was not previously there. I'm getting an echo in a couple weeks, but I was just curious how many people here developed a new murmur after covid.
I have had my chihuahua since I was a kid and growing up, my parents never mentioned anything about spaying her and I never spayed her because I didnβt know the risks that would happen later. Shes 12 now and I just took her to the vet and they told me she could possibly get pyometra because she isnβt spayed. Shes already showing a few symptoms such as drinking alot of water and licking her vulva alot. I want to spay her now and do everything in my power to prevent this disease, but Iβm scared to have her be put under because of her heart. I would love to know if anyone can give me advice
