Des Moines-class cruiser: The biggest autoloader

The 3 Des Moines class cruisers were the last all-gun cruisers the US ever built, and most heavily armed cruisers ever built by any nation. Commissioned too late for WWII, they were fast at 33 knots, and reasonably armored, with a 6-inch belt, but they were most notable for their armament.
Des Moines-class ships were not unique in having 9 203mm guns, but they were unique in using autoloaders for those guns- autoloaders that allowed for a sustained rate of fire of up to 7 rounds per minute per gun, which for WT reference is about as fast as an Tiger II H with full crew. For a 203mm gun. They also carried an insane secondary armament of 12 5-inch guns in dual mounts (same turrets as the USS Alan M. Sumner, only 2x as many), and 24 3-inch guns in dual mounts that could each fire 50 rounds a minute, with VT-fused shells. For added fun, they also carried 12 20mm oerlikons in single mounts.
Since they were too late for WWII, and they didn't have the deck space for missiles, they didn't serve long- barely 10 years in the case of Des Moines and Salem. Newport News was the only one that saw combat, serving as a gunfire support ship off Vietnam. Des Moines and Newport News were both scrapped, but Salem survives to this day as a museum ship in Massachusetts.

Which ship line is more beginner friendly, the path to Des Moines or Worcester in the US Cruiser line?
Im starting a new account and I have heard that the US cruiser line was one of the most easiest line to train on to learn about cruiser strats.
So I have come to ask which line is much easier and which line is much better to invest on as I will probably be grinding this line for a majority of the time.

"Surveillance Radar is amazing." "USN gun cruisers are an underperforming line" "Des Moines is fantastic" "Atlanta is still great after IFHE" "Atlanta and Flint are dead after IFHE". As a newbie, I've heard so many conflicting opinions on this line, so what's the truth about USN Cruiser?
Are they worth playing? Is it a trash line? If I play with friends, should at least *one* of us have access to Surveillance Radar, even if the ship sucks?
There are so many places to find info, I'm pretty baffled. I appreciate the input, seasoned captains!

Would love to see The Des Moines class in Azur Lane (Video by Drachinifel)
Hey all! I saw This video by Drach come up in my sub feed and I was remeinded of my favourite Heavy Cruser class the Des Moines.
https://youtu.be/Y3TVqZDQSNA
I don't know about anyone else but I would love to see Des Moines, Salem or Newport News in AL
Personaly I'd say they would be UR/DR ships because a Baltimore class 203mm main gun barrel can fire 4 rounds a minute...One barrel on The Des Moines can pump out 10 in a minute...be it HE or Super Heavy AP 203mm rounds. And she has 9 of them!
I don't know about you guys, but 90 203mm rounds a minute is terifiying! (and I love it)
Plus All the updated eletronics they had, then there is the AA firepower: 6 twin 5"/38 moints 12! twin 3"/50, and another 12 20mm's! Let's not forget the extra armour! And while significantly heavier can move as fast a Baltimore too!
To me a Des Moines would be a FP+AA beast with a ridiculous reload/rate of fire and tanky/evasive. Would probably need a UR mk 16 203mm gun to work though.
I know not everyone would want them in the game but a man can dream :P

US Navy Video States Des Moines Cruiser Guns are Dual Purpose - Anti Air Guns?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrWd1e3aqUs
At 11:30 into the video it states that the main weapons on the Des Moines cruiser, the 8 inch guns can also be used for long range anti air. Is there a reason why it is not that way in the game?
