I loved the choice of "Whistling Away The Dark" as sung by Julie Andrews playing as we were whisked through the belly of WhiteRose's "project", whatever that particle-collider-looking item may turn out to be. I didn't fully appreciate what a spot-on song choice this was until just now.

The song is from a movie called "Darling Lili", and I am watching it now due to insomnia. Here is a summary of the movie plot:

"Set during World War I, the film centers on Lili Smith (Julie Andrews), a popular British music hall performer who is regarded as a femme fatale.

She is actually a German spy, and the uncle she dotes upon is really Colonel Kurt Von Ruger (Jeremy Kemp), a fellow spy and her contact with the German military.

In hopes of gaining valuable information, Lili begins using her feminine wiles on Major William Larrabee (Rock Hudson), a top American pilot flying with the British Royal Flying Corps. However, Lili soon falls in love with Larrabee and cannot find the courage to betray him. When Larrabee discovers Lili's secret, he refuses to turn her in."

So we get a nice spy story with the complication of love and loyalty to country/mission, set in WW1, a significant event/time period that is a repeated reference in the show, especially the prints/maps in Phillip Price's office.

The movie also prominently features games of chess, strategically-placed red objects, including a RED WHEELBARROW, and lots of relevant French phrases/references (because part of it takes place in France). Methinks Sam Esmail might have been a fan of this movie...how about you? ;-)

But, that's not why I'm so on edge." Roya admitted as his ears laid against his skull. "I just feel so...useless. Like some cliche 'gentleman in distress', and I hate it. I don't want to be stuck on the sidelines like this while the people I care about the most are out fighting. I just want to help."

"Then ask them to train you." Phoebe said as she stood up. "You're married to two professional warriors, I'm sure they could train you how to fight. So, tell them that's what you want, and stick with it."

"Do you really think it'd be that easy? I just...ask them to train me?"

"Why not? It's one less worry for them if you can protect yourself, after all. I can't guarantee they'll start taking you on combat missions or anything even after you get properly trained, but you don't need to fight to be useful anyway. I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. My friends mother (Lilly F76) saw a 4 month old puppy on sale on Gumtree for £575, that came up when she did a 10 mile search. She then phoned the seller to enquire, and they said they were in Egham, which is actually well over an hour away. They said come now but Lilly doesn’t drive, so they offered to bring the puppy straight over…. Despite it being christmas day! She was adorable so Lilly wanted her. She asked her name, but they said she didn’t have one, that they just called her “my darling”. As Lily was face-timing me the new puppy, she shook her coat and out flew lots of white powder. About half an hour later Lilly looked at the paperwork that came with her. There is a vaccination record with no animal name or vet details on it, apart from ‘purple girl’. They looked at the microchip record and it said the dog was actually born in May! So it’s 7 months old. It had an unfamiliar number on it. So Lilly called it - and it was the woman who sold them the puppy! But on another number. They said the powder was “puppy powder”, and she eventually admitted she was 7 months old, but did not say why they lied. I googled puppy powder and it says puppy powder is a supplement, not something you add to their coat. The other thing that is very worrying is that this 7 month old puppy, not only doesnt have a name, but she’s not made a sound. She’s apparently half jack russel half poodle, so she should be a bit yappy. She’s very timid, and crouches if you go to pick her up. Nothing too terrible though. But they’ve had her a few hours and she hasn’t made a sound. Lilly has been through hell with a very poorly dog that died in September. Im so worried for her, and this cute little puppy. The other thing is there was a photo on the advert that says “mum and dad”, but one is a red jack russel, and the other one is a light brown labradoodle or similar (not pure poodle). This puppy is black though. Can that be possible? There’s quite a lot to take in, but what do you guys think of the situation? What do you suggest we do?

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

Ever since I finished the complete run of Telltale’s The Walking Dead games around a month back, I’ve been constantly thinking about The Final Season… like A LOT. I was introduced to the series by a friend way back in 2012 when Season One was first released and I just adored it. The storytelling, the characters, the world and the difficult moral choices all had me completely enthralled. I didn’t have any prior knowledge of The Walking Dead franchise and even to this day I haven’t read any of the comic books or seen a single episode of the TV show.

I had always been meaning to follow-up on the series but going to university, getting a degree and then settling into my first full-time job kept me away from playing (and also buying) video games. The gradual critical decline of Telltale Games’ output over those years did not help encourage me to return to the series either, and the announcement of their ‘majority studio closure’ back in late 2018 really made me feel for the game’s fans and development staff (except the management, of course). But part of me at the time was glad I hadn’t invested in an unfinished story. But then the subsequent completion of The Final Season by Skybound Games, the release of a complete collection on PS4 and some whispers online about The Final Season being a return to form for the franchise finally got me to take the plunge.

Now normally when I see someone online reviewing a game they’ve played, they discuss what they did and didn’t like, what impressed them and frustrated them, etc. I’m going to try something a bit different here – I’m going to talk about my appreciation for The Walking Dead: The Final Season whilst also arguing why I think the story neatly encapsulates the tragic decline and fall of Telltale Games (2004-18). So buckle up kiddo, because here’s how it’s going down.

· Part 1 looks at Clementine and AJ’s relationship, focusing on their opening scene together in Episode 1 (‘Done Running’).

· Part 2 then looks at the narrative significance of Ericson’s Boarding School for Troubled Youths, the primary setting seen throughout The Final Season.

· Part 3 looks at parallel choices – decisions that have echoes of those from previous seasons – throughout The Final Season, including the return of a ‘Season One’ character.

· Part 4 then brings together all the three ideas in Parts 1-3 and looks at how they apply to the climactic scenes and epilogue of Episode 4 (‘Take Us Back’).
