A list of puns related to "Curve (tonality)"
I'm essentially asking for a de-esser in reverse, but instead of an EQ curve, it actually subtracts the tonalities from the spectrum entirely. I know of some tools that are "capable", but I was wondering if there's any specific plugin that's geared towards this job and does it well. I've tried Izotope VocalSynth and it sounds a little too gargly for my taste.
A lot is lost when a conversation is transcribed. Text does not convey emphasis. It does not convey tonality. It leaves the reader to guess and fill the gaps based on personal prejudice.
Through this post I'll try to describe the tone of the conversation throughout critical junctures, what the shifts in tone seem to signify and why we should care about it.
Ms. Nida began the call with an argument around her 36 years of misery and discussed the Islamic procedure of rape. Something presented on the official website Alislam.org and written by official spokespeople of the Jamaat. The Khalifa kept insisting for the first 5 minutes that he is not concerned with any evidence. That either Nida get 4 witnesses or a confession for rape or she has no access to justice in Islam.
>Nida: Mera haq koi nahi mara jaraha? 36 saal mere nahi mare gae. Bohat achha hoya na jo mere sath jo hoya hai.
>
>KM5: Nahi. Tumhara haq mara gaya. Tumne 36 saal tumne sawaal nahi uthaya jo tumhe uthana chahiye thaa.
>
>
>
>Nida (English): None of my rights are being infringed upon? Theyβve not been infringed for 36 years? What happened to me was extremely good, right?
>
>KM5 (English): No. Your rights were infringed upon. You didnβt speak up for 36 years. You should have spoken up in the past.
To those who understand Urdu, the Khalifa stretching the "thaa" in "... tumne sawaal nahi uthaya jo tumhe uthana chahiye thaa" is a powerful reminder of what tone conveys. To those who don't understand Urdu, the statement may mean that the Khalifa is letting Nida know that it has always been her right to raise this question. To those who understand Urdu don't hear it the same way!
The emphasis on "thaa" (closest equivalent in English would be "was") is so meaningful in such a meaningful tone, it can't be understood as anything other than telling Nida that the time for speaking up is long gone. She should not speak up now.
At around the 6th minute mark, Nida gives up on her insistence, disheartened by the Caliphβs complete dismissal and unwillingness to hear anything about any evidence of rape, she presents evidence for the lewdness she has been subjected to. The Khalifa's tone shifts from strong dismissal to a more relaxed brushing off. He crudely submits that the lewd comments are mere innuendo that can be explained by the alleged parties.
This is the part of the conversation, approximately 7 minutes
... keep reading on reddit β‘I donβt like straight ahead atonal music most of the time. I like beautiful melodies and catchy rhythms. However, I do enjoy atonality when used sparingly in certain contexts- for example the score of the movie psycho or the section of the ligetti etude that plays in the movie eyes wide shut. Can you recommend me composers who arenβt film scorers who write full fledged works that contain nice melodies and rhythms with some cool atonality in the mix?
Hi Iβm currently writing an essay on polyharmony and I made a post before because I needed to learn more about using and analysing polyharmony but now I need a rough timeline or some key events which I can use to make a timeline so that I can structure my essay around developments in this area starting with early examples and up to however far I can manage which Iβll find out later.
If anyone knows any key points I should use, any dates or anything then that would be very helpful.
Thanks for reading.
I have been replaying Mass Effect 1&2 for the last few days and Iβm onto Mass Effect 2 and the difference between tones is actually quite striking.
I never really paid much attention to it growing up but now itβs really apparent.
I feel like Mass Effect 1 is more Star Trek in that the world feels like a utopia of sorts but as a result you have a lot of barren uninhabited planets but everything has a βcleanβ look to it.
In Mass Effect 2 the writers very clearly wanted to showcase a grimier world, we get stuff like Omega, Dodgy Space Prisons and even a more gray Shepard stuff that would never fit into Mass Effect 1.
It feels like Mass Effect 2 takes more from Star Wars to some degree where the Sci Fi world is more rickety.
Overall though which tone do you prefer for the series? I think it made sense for Mass Effect 1 as you were a new player and weβre exploring but for Mass Effect 2 the tone change allowed for stronger telling or at least to a degree.
I think ME3 definitely tried to balance both to a degree but overall followed ME2 trend where as Andromeda tried to pivot back to ME1.
4 bar Example:| Am | F (just the notes low B, F (on 4 and)| F#| B (and just the notes high D, G# on 4 and| (with a muted low E, (guitar) but it's probably landing on the first beat of next bar).
with power chords this progression does work fine, (i think) without the B,F or the D,G# but in the DAW with full chords (3rds added) but the notes B,F by themselves, the B,F seem to makes it smoother or "better". I intended to make a progression half minor, half major sounding to go with the lyrics, it worked with the lyrics either way, but still curious if it's changing key to maybe F# or B for a little and then returning to A. (not staying in A) and if it is? , I think it's at the least being helped by just 2 notes??? your thoughts? (I did end up adding D,B bass notes under the B,F (C#,B work too) but even without the bass , those 2 notes alone I think, help make it smoother,)
On distorted guitar, my playing is simplified; power chords, AD fills in for Asus4, G#D might fill for an E7 before A. or I might play E,D,B,G# staccato or something similiar. BF would fill for B diminished. I realize this can be ambiguous and whether i do this because I'm too lazy to improvise true chords or just like the sound of the simplified "chords" is up for debate. However, my intentions seem consistent most of the time when i go to do a backing track in the DAW. and add thirds etc. but in some cases as above it makes the arranging flexible as I wasn't positive here the F# and B chords would work as majors.
Also, I want to wish Happy Holidays to the community and Best Wishes in the coming year! thanks to everyone and especially those that seem to add to every post for making this a bright spot on the internet.
Have a pair of lcd 2c, but i always find them too dark to listen to them consistently, which is sad, because otherwise they sound fantastic in the bass and subbass area, anyone know of brands or maybe other audeze's (only ever listened to those lcd2c's) Thanks!!
Iβm looking for literature that might go into possible psychological explanations of tonality. Specifically Iβm looking for explanations that deal with how it is we hear certain chord progressions as having a βforwardβ or βbackwardsβ movement, or having a greater or lower energy. I understand how this is explained in music theory, but I was hoping for possible deeper explanations.

According to the chords of this page, which could be the tone of the song? I was thinking between Bb or Gm
Does anyone else find themselves preoccupied and easily triggered by peopleβs facial expressions and tone of voice?
I find in most interactions Iβm always hyper aware of the behavior of the other person(s). Iβm very sensitive to negative feedback and I know I pick up signals that are just not there.
This affects me in all social situations, and it doesnβt take much for shame, anxiety and overthinking to get activated.
It also involves me imagining that I know what the other person is thinking and feeling about me. 8/10 times itβs something negative.
Awareness helps, but I definitely still struggle daily π«
How is he able to avoid making anything sound like the tonic especially in the beginning of the piece
I cannot find any written works on how to manipulate tonal center and any books on modes and key signatures and how to manipulate them, does anyone have any recommendations?

How do I play in a mode such as D Dorian, without the melody and chords still gravitating toward resolving to C (Ionian) or A (aeolian)?
Do you raise a scale degree like you do when playing in minor keys to make it resolve better?
How else could you make your song really feel like it is in D Dorian and not in C major?
(Iβm using dorian as an example, I really mean writing any non Ionian/aeolian mode for an entire piece)
Thanks in advance.
Say one wants to compose dissonant, scary music like the soundtrack from Psycho. Or the type of orchestral music in any classic slasher movie.
Everyone talks about whay chords and intervals to use, but never how or where to use them. For example, I know about tritones, diminished sevenths, min/maj sevenths, cluster chords, etc. But howbdo you organize them? Other than just smashing random notes on a piano, that is.
You also hear a lot about instrumentation and subtle sound design but that's not what I'm interested in right now.
Is it possible that there is nothing to the composition other than smashing dissonant notes on a piano, and the bulk of it comes down to orchestration, sound design, etc? I'm sure that's the case for some lazy movie soundtracks, but I know for a fact dissonance can be used with purpose. Like in so much 20th century atonal music. Especially something like Shostakovich's 8th string quartet.
Is there some sort of tonal center or mode you use when writing that type of music?
I just started doing this today, and I am already seeing positive results. I also made my voice deeper. But I am wondering if this technique works universally, because I call mostly people who are blue collar for now, and they talk a bit more βroughβ
Later on, I will be calling more wealthy, white collar prospects β will it seem too harsh and unsophisticated for many of them?
I'm still learning theory and I've realized that the root, 2nd, 4th, and 5th are consistent in both minor and major scales. In A minor, the 2nd, 4th, and 5th would be B D and E, which are the same in A major.
I thought of composing something involving only those 3 notes plus the root, I know it'd probably sound pretty bland and unexciting but that just leads me to ask what the name of that key would be? Are there songs out there that use these 4 notes exclusively? Would it even be considered a scale?
Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know that Iβve created a discord server for Tonality at the request of a few users. The idea is that people can share tips, answer questions, and provide suggestions. Itβs also a good way to discuss bugs, feature requests, and beta versions.
You can join here: https://discord.gg/md4NM2Rv
Iβve also partnered with the Patchstorage developer to provide chord pad preset sharing, with the idea that we can share chord progressions and songs. You can join his discord here: https://discord.gg/As94pxzZAb
I'm currently working on a proto conlang that i want to branch off into about at least ten different languages that will function as dialects and foreign languages. Usually when i go about language change, i don't plan ahead too much and just apply some language changes I wanted and see where the eventual "modern" language takes me or even ends up rather than that i have a specific endpoint in mind (I love historical linguistics, so going on that ride through time is my favorite process).
However, after learning some Chinese I'd reaaaally would like to experiment with tonality in one of the language isolates, but i have no idea how to introduce this feature.
I was wondering how you all have approached the origin of tonality in your conlang's language change process and how you went about it?
Simply put, a lot of charisma is using tonality and body language well when talking. Iβve gotten good at conversation, but I still fall short in nonverbals. I can read them well, but I canβt really do them naturally. I feel like this comes in part from being INTJ.
Other INTJs, how have you addressed this? Are there alternative ways to be more charismatic? Is there a way to make being more expressive become natural?
Good day dearest ladies, I hope you all are doing well! As of late, I just turned twenty years old and I just about donβt know how to cook or clean properly. I hope to get married soon and my mother is getting ila we as the days go by. I feel guilt watching her do all the work. I want to take over and cook and clean for the entire family, however I am just overwhelmed. Can any of you direct me to the basic resources on what I need in order to properly begin in Homemaking. The essentials, foundations. I love books by the way, feel free to recommend them to me.
Also, if any of you mind sharing your hygiene routine. (Hair, skincare, dressing well) in the home. Iβm into vintage clothing and dresses. I want to transform my closet now. I have trouble with consistently taking care of my hair. Mention any tips there if you wish.
I also want to improve my speech for the better. I feel in my tonality my voice can get slightly deeper like a man unconsciously and I hate it. So much so that my older brother once commented on it and a little kid as well. Obviously my voice can sound very feminine at times but most of the time when Iβm around my family itβs just that lower register. When I try and intentionally change it, it becomes noticeable.
Finally, any ways to become more feminine internally (i.e: excluding physical appearance)? Such as mannerisms and etiquette? For a woman who is not so attractive, Iβd want to enhance my inner to that of excellence. Not too sure why i mentioned that but please leave any tips in the following areas.
I appreciate you all.
Yes I am running an older computer. 2013 iMac. 10.10.5 with pro tool HD native 11. Tonight my presets are saving and then when loaded up say my setting but has the default sound. I'll tweak a software synth and then 5 minutes later its changed timbre without me touching a thing. Anyone have any idea what the heck is going on?
An instrument track also incorporated the track below it into itself even though no instrument was inserted yet.
Hey everyone,
I'm still struggeling in deciding whether I want to get an AC30S1 or not. On paper I think it is a great amp. Reduced feature set to the bare necessities, less weight compared to an AC30C2 and a fair price point. Only thing that I'm worried about is the fact, that some people seem to claim that there's a tube missing in the pre-amp (compared to e.g. an AC15C1) and its essentially a hybrid amp. (e.g. click)
I thought maybe some of you guys could explain to me what the missing tube in the pre-amp or the respectively used FET's would mean for this amp's tone. Also I'm really interested in other player's opinions on how it tonally compares to an AC15C1 and AC30C2.
Unfortunately I cannot A/B it with anything here where I live.
Thanks everyone!
Changed industries recently. Working in homes selling solar panels. Its more of an emotional sale and I need help getting the message across in a way that sirs emotion. Any help/recommendations would be appreciated.
