Scott explains Calvinism in much the same way General Buck Turgidson explained the imminent outbreak of nuclear war in Doctor Strangelove. Calvinism has a lot in common with mormonism, including a limited atonement. In the clip, after rattling of the five basic tenets of Calvinism, the conclusion is for predestination and predetermined outcomes. This was amplified in Smith's biblical fan fiction in the Book of Abraham:

Predestination is embraced in Calvinism because an all knowing god would know the future. He knows the outcome of every throw of the dice. He knows whose names will be on the scrolls allowed to pass the pearly gates into heaven before people are even born. Mormonism is similar, but with exceptions given to the founder to allow him to name exceptions for people who will get in because of their association with him. It's very much like the "legacy provision" given to brothers in a college fraternity.
Another difference is that in mormonism works are emphasized much more. Mormonism is a new Abrahamic religion, with exaltation to godhood being a new concept, and the Christian atonement relegated to overcoming Adam's original sin that literally happened in a garden less than 10,000 years ago. If people are not among the elect, then they're responsible for their own sins. That means beatings and torment in an afterlife that might be called "hell" in any other religion.
Perseverance is also a mainstay in LDS church lessons. The faithful must endure to the end and never fall from grace. In Calvinism, unconditional election comes to the rescue. In mormonism, those who receive their election sure are also granted admission despite any faults they might retain. Of course, mormons might say that they've achieved perfection and

So right now one issue I'm facing with dates in a matrix is that you can't sort the columns by date in descending order. The workaround to this I discovered was to use a text column in the date table to represent the dates (so just duplicated the date column, then changed the type to "text"), and then sort that text column by another "date_order" column - derived using RANKX function on the date columns to get the date order in descending order.
This was a neat trick, but I realized that it ruined the conditional formatting. I am baffled as to why this is.
In the picture above, we see that the green, red, and orange icons indicate if there was a rise, fall, or no change from the previous week. This is represented accurately when the matrix columns are the date tables, but not when they're the text columns.

To be clear - the raw numbers themselves are completely correct regardless of whether the columns are the date type or text type. It's just that conditional formatting is ruined when using text columns to represent dates.

The problem of divine hiddenness is a serious one that theists have to take seriously. One of the most commonly proposed solutions I have run across is that God hides because revealing himself in an undeniable fashion would violate our free will because we would be essentially forced to believe in him.* I take issue with this because the bible repeatedly chronicles events where God reveals himself in undeniable terms and the witness still does not obey/accept God's supremacy. Satan, who has more knowledge of the character of God then perhaps any other created being, intentionally chooses to rebel. Jonah refuses God's calling (at least initially). Sarah doesn't believe God when she is told she will bear a child. Solomon likely doesn't even die as a follower of YHWH. These instances of intentional rebellion or disbelief stand as clear evidence that knowledge of God doesn't preclude one from making a choice of whether to accept God. Therefore there must be an alternative explanation for the hiddenness of God.
*I'll make a note that revealing himself would force us to accept his existence (probably), but I don't see this as any more of a violation of free will then meeting a friend and being "forced" to believe they exist.
**EDIT: Calvinists need not apply
So as many know but many may not, Adobe Flash is being discontinued at the end of this year, putting so many games at risk of being lost forever. Fortunately Blue Maxima's Flashpoint has been working these past few years to preserve as much as possible. They have done so much amazing work and preserved so many games. But there is still A LOT left to go. Last I checked there were around 9000-10000 game requests still submitted, and more are constantly being added every day.
Every person helping is another bunch of games saved, so every bit of help makes a massive impact.
TL;DR: Loads of games will be lost by December, Archival Project could use all the help they can get.
So I ask people here to help out in any way possible. Help add to the numbers of curators saving games. Or even simply help by sharing this to more people so they can help.

Hi. Missed a couple of release cycles around here, but not this time. Flashpoint is a preservation projects for games made for the web; Flash, Shockwave, Unity Web Player, Java, etc. We just released version 7.1, which brings the preserved game count over 38,000, and just under 2500 animations.
As always, there's two versions; Ultimate, which has all the games packed and ready to go upon extraction, and Infinity, which downloads games from the internet as you select and play them. You can find both on the downloads page of our website.

After the news posted by Tyler yesterday regarding the end of the project, I was really sad to see this community go. Before I go on with this post I just want to say I wish u/tylerjaywood and all of you the best.
As many of you know, I have been running a subreddit called r/takecareofourplants for over two years now. This sub, which began as a replica for this project in Tyler’s absence in 2018, quickly became something really amazing and cool not unlike this community. We now have over 1500 gardeners, a Nerve plant named Seymore and a digitally rendered plant named Herbert. These plants are voted on daily in a similar fashion to this subreddit.
With the end of this project, I really do not want to see this community fade away just to live in memory. I want to extend a warm invitation to all gardeners here to join r/takecareofourplants. I feel as though this is the best course of action to preserve this community and those who truly care about it. I would love to see you all voting there for the foreseeable future!

RIP Jeff and the take care of my plant project
I came across this site for the Domesday project which gives an overview of the hardware and software needed to accurately preserve laserdisc data. I don't know if this is the only project working on laserdisc preservation but it's the only one I've been able to find.
I don't know how old this project is, but I am now wondering if anyone has managed to gather all the necessary equipment (along with the original arcade discs for games like Dragon's Lair and such) to go through the whole process. Groups like redump.org do not appear to cover laserdiscs for now. Is there any org that does?
I also don't know if there is even a complete "catalogue" of all the laserdisc games and their differing versions that have were made and am looking for that information also, if anyone knows where to find it. Dragon's Lair Project seems to have the most entries plus prototypes, but I don't know if this is considered to be the complete list.

- Still early days for laserdisc game preservation
- The Domesday Duplicator works, and is the only currently known method to fully preserve LDs
- Because LD data is mostly analogue, it is not possible to verify dumps with hash signatures
- No "master list" of known laserdisc games for now (The Dragon's Lair Project appears to have the most complete list, including prototypes)
- Disc rot is a huge problem
- Best Discord groups to visit if you can help are the LD channel of VGPC, and Domesday86
