A list of puns related to "Columbia Law School"
get off my feed
I believe I graduated with a 3.4 GPA from a state university, so if I score high on the LSATs do I have a chance? Also, can one get into top law schools with a score of 170? Or is that not high enough?
I know there are other factors to consider but I'm curious as of to where I stand and whether I'm on the right track. Any feedback is appreciated!
Received the acceptance e-mail 15 minutes ago! :) I applied in mid-December with a >50th GPA and >75th LSAT, and was admitted without an interview
Got the email early this morning!!
Congrats to everyone who took the LSAT yesterday! For those who are thinking of retaking or now have questions about what law school is like, I just recorded an interview talking about my path going from community college to Columbia Law. I also talk about my path going from a 148 diagnostic score to a 161, 164 and ultimately a 174. I talk about mindset, and why I didn't give up even when studying felt useless.

Also happy to answer questions here or on Instagram (@beforeyoutaketheLSAT) if anyone has any!
Does anyone know where students live in UWS if they do not do UAH for Columbia law? Would like to live where law students are, but cannot seem to find any recommendations!
This is the last post I wrote. I got off the waitlist, and I think I'm headed to Columbia. My cycle is over now, I think.
A copy and paste from that post, for those interested.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been in the waitlist Limbo for the past five months, and I think I am finally starting to climb out of it. For those interested, here are my general stats and admission results so far:
-Superior GPA
(I graduated from a non-US university, so my GPA is given a classification ranging from below average to superior)
-LSAT 17x (only a hair higher than their median score from last year)
-Extracurricular/Job experience: almost none; I did some academic work and have a working paper that was submitted to a small academic journal under my name. Not yet published. I do have many awards for superior academic performances from the school from which I graduated, but I doubt that counts as that much.
Aside from that, I completed a compulsory military service (no more than a few years long).
-Date of application: Sometime in mid-November
-Admission results:
YS, Michigan, Berkely: straight reject; Harvard took a while to reject me from the waitlist.
Columbia, Chicago, NYU, UPenn, UVA, Duke, Northwestern: Waitlisted. Duke, I am in priority reserve and Columbia initially put me on 'hold' before waitlisting me.
Cornell, Gtown: accept with scholarship, though the amount was a little disappointing (especially Gtown).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No change so far, except I'm accepted at Columbia. I don't know what my FA package would look like yet.
As soon as my I complete my deposit at Columbia, I will be pulling my application from all the schools above (which will be sometime this week or at the latest next week). Hope one of you in the similar limbo in which I resided fill in my space.
Any questions, ask away. I will be happy to answer them as long as it does not concern my personal information
Stats: 3.95-4.0 GPA/325-330 GRE/nURM/KJD/STEM
Timeline: Early October, Interviewed late November, ghosted since this morning, submitted application update (new resume) early March.
They are giving me one day to write a LOCI.
- Stats: 3.8*/172
- Interviewed last Friday
- Got a phone call today
- Accepted offer & have 24 hours to pay deposit
- I know people got offers starting early this week and I believe they're still making calls...seems like there's more movement in the WL this year.
Hope this was helpful! Feel free to message me with any questions. Good luck y'all! :)
Edit: To clarify, the event is tomorrow around lunch. It will also likely be recorded, so I can share the video with anyone interested who can't make it.
More info on speaker: https://www.linkedin.com/in/williamjofarrell/. Just some background about him: William O'Farrell started out at Harvard Law School, worked in Big Law in Silicon Valley for a few years, and then transitioned to founding and serving as CEO of multiple tech startups, the most recent of which he sold to Amazon for $50M+. (Here is a link with more info.:https://techcrunch.com/2017/10/03/amazon-has-acquired-3d-body-model-startup-body-labs-for-50m-70m/). It should be a super interesting conversation about his career path in and out of the law, covering topics including AI.
Event will be hosted at Columbia Law School and there will be an opportunity for Q&A. I'm also hoping to record it so that I can post the video after the event for those who can't make it. If anyone is interested in either attending live or seeing the recording, feel free to PM.
(Thought I'd share with the r/LSAT community since there has been interest in these types of conversations in the past.)
Doing a follow-up interview with Angel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_TORQXJOJU&t=1059s) regarding her experiences taking the bar early, passing, graduating CLS, and starting as an associate at one of the top law firms in the nation.
You can watch the full interview/join and ask your own questions tomorrow, October 4th at 3 pm EST on IG Live (www.instagram.com/BeforeYouTaketheLSAT)
Hi,
I'm a 2L at Columbia organizing an event on campus tomorrow that is open to the general public that I thought may be of interest to the prelaw community in r/LSAT. The event is an official book launch for a posthumous memoir about Mallory Smith, a young woman struggling to live with Cystic Fibrosis. Mallory's father Mark, a graduate of Harvard Law School, will be on campus to speak to the legal issues that arose from his daughter's story.
The book has yet to be released (it will be released tomorrow) but it is already an Amazon bestseller set to be made into a movie by Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated directors (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/hunting-ground-team-sets-mallory-smith-cystic-fibrosis-doc-1187843,) and has been featured in the L.A. Times (https://www.latimes.com/local/abcarian/la-me-abcarian-mallory-20190308-story.html).
It's a really powerful story, and as we will focus on the legal aspects that arose, the topic is very relevant and interesting to the prelaw community.
The event will be at Columbia Law School, 435 W. 116th Street, in the main building (Jerome Greene Hall) in room JG 106 from 12:10-1:10 pm.

Lunch will be served!
