A list of puns related to "Clare Hall, Cambridge"
Went on 20 December and filed marriage intention, took oath etc. Clerkβs office said to come back 23 December to pick up license, but when I came back today there was a notice taped to the door that says the building is closed 23-24 December for the holiday. Ceremony scheduled for 26 December with one day officiant designation (which I know can be amended, if need be). Iβve called the City Clerk and sent an email; any other ideas for how to proceed, or am I just out of luck? :(
Thanks for your help.
Edit: punctuation
Update: All sorted! Thanks to all of your suggestions, we reached out to our city councillor who put us in touch with the City Clerkβs office. Eventually someone ended up meeting us at City Hall and gave us the license. Apparently several other couples were in the same boat due to the unexpected holiday closure. Thanks again for all the help! You guys are awesome!
Hi all, I was confirmed by the PAO after meeting all offer conditions just yesterday and was told by my college (Clare Hall) that all on site accommodation is filled up and only off site accommodation is available. I am a 22F international student with no local friends or family and am worried about not living on-site with my college community & facilities.
Whatβs it like living off site? Will my experience be totally different? I know Clare Hall is an all postgrad college but I didnβt think I would be living off site and far awayβ¦ Iβm worried.
Hello hello! I just got accepted to Cambridge for an MPhil and itβs a dream come true. I cannot believe Iβll get to go to school here.
For this question, please please know I am not trying to sound ungrateful. I am thrilled about this opportunity and know I will wind up loving my college. I was accepted at Clare Hall, and I must admit I feel a bit disappointed. Part of the dream of studying at Cambridge was living in incredibly old buildings and eating in the beautiful dining halls. Clare Hall was founded in the 60s. I do believe I will like the people in my college and their mission really aligns with what I value. Thatβs very important and Iβm thankful.
BUT Iβm wondering if there will ever be chances for me to eat in the dining halls of those other absolutely stunning colleges, if Iβm allowed to walk around in the other colleges, etc, or if Iβll be looking at just the buildings in Clare Hall.
Forgive me if this is a ridiculous question- Iβm still trying to wrap my head around the college system, so there are some holes in my understanding. If you have any other advice for an American moving to Cambridge, Iβd love to hear it!! Iβll be bringing my partner so Iβd love tips about how to make that go smoothly.
For those who had interviews, anyone know what date / dates we hear the news back about offers?
Flying in to Heathrow Sunday and have 5 days work in Mildenhall (apparently it's one word...). Just figured I'd check of there are any need-to-visit shops in the area.
I'd prefer not to drive in London proper unless there's an absolute must see store as I've never driven on that side of the road and don't want the first time to be in a metropolitan area.only going to have like 1/2 a day off to see stuff.
Does anyone have any pics of a single/double in Cambridge by any chance? Just trying to get a rough sketch of room size outside of the βvirtual room toursβ? Any knowledge about A/C lounge etc would be helpful!
also why?
i'm an incoming freshman filling out my housing app. i've heard that bc of the gender ratio in STS, generally the ground floor has a few all-women rooms, 2nd and 4th floors are mixed, and 3rd floor is all-men. i'm not sure what to choose. any advice or past experiences would be helpful!
i personally wanna go mixed cuz it seems easier to make friends, but i'm not sure if all the women will choose single-gender and then there's barely any women on my floor. also my parents are cool with mixed but my grandparents (indian) will flip out when they visit me lol but thats ok
I don't drink, out of preference, and I don't eat beef and rabbit and most red meat. Lamb might be fine, I believe. Is it a social norm to drink, and is there a way of politely not consuming said alcohol at formals and dinners where wine is included with the meal? For instance, is it possible to substitute the wine with water or something like it?
