Edit: lol at the downvote after this post is up for less then a minute. I didn't realise property developers are browsing reddit on a Saturday morning.
Hey guys! My partner and I are moving from Canberra to QLD later this month. We are tossing up between apartments in fortitude valley or somewhere on the gold coast. We are looking for some local opinions as we donβt know the area well. We will be working from home so location and surroundings are a big deal for us. We need to be close to a post office that we can easily drive to and park at.
Would appreciate any opinions on living in either areas, thanks!
So in 2011, Brisbane and the Gold Coast had the worst floods in a long time, "100 year floods" they said.
That was irrelevant to add and has sidetracked the discussion.
But flooding around here in Brisbane is a "fact of life"
Now the Gold Coast got around 255mm of rain in 6 days, causing widespread flooding and issues
Yet in the same time, Darwin got 264mm and that's just an "average week" in Darwin.
No floods, no issues, it's just life in Darwin.
So, why can we not fix these issues in somewhere like Brisbane or the Gold Coast when it's clearly doable in a city like Darwin?
I now live in Brisbane and used to live in Darwin, so can Compare
Is anyone else perturbed by the King tide levels as a taster for rising sea levels?
Current climate predictions would have most of the GC underwater by the 2070 if not earlier. Is this just a doomed city?
Several Gold Coast redditors are requiring medical assistance and are many being treated for shock as the thread reported a positive red alert today.
This rare occurrence shocked the group to it's core, as posting something 'okay' about Southport or the Gold Coast is deeply frowned upon. The positive person, who has now chosen to go into hiding over death threats for being remotely happy, had posted:
"I quite like Southport. It's got a really good library, the kids loved the Hoppa boat and the swimming pool, beach and park there. Afterwards we went to the Oz fair mall and looked at games and toys. We then decided to go to Event cinemas which is only $10 for Cinebuzz members. Bargain! I took the wife and kids for a cracking fish supper down near the beach later on and we had just a great day."
Since posting the comment, several redditors have been infuriated at the 'outrageous positivity' and 'just not on brand' Murdoch empire fear mongering.
"It's just not right, who does this happy, upbeat, probably lefty communist, poncey ABC viewer think he is?" Said one rather gloomy, eternally miserable individual who spends all his wages on Murdoch newspapers, the races, ciggys, booze, lotto, Foxtel, only fans and the odd bit of charlie.
"The sooner the thread gets back to pointing out all the bad, negative things we can, and ignoring everything positive, the happier...wait, I mean... the more miserable I'll be". "Everything is crap, it's the worst place in the world, go away" he continued.
Hey fellow legends, I thought I'd start a weekly Player rating thread.
How does it work?
Upvote: Players you thought were amazing. (Scored goals, saved goals, won their position etc)
Downvote: Players you thought were below average (Lost their position, lazy, missed tackles, missed sitters).
Don't vote: Players just average; not bad, not great. Or not enough time on the field.
Man of the match: 30 points. (2nd :15pts, 3rd :10pts, 4th :5pts, 5th :1pt)
Tallied up week by week.
