A list of puns related to "Chinese for Affirmative Action"
My dad told me in the past that his Hui Muslim classmates(heβs from Ningxia province) got grade boosts when he was in school. Googled it and turns out that affirmative action for ethnic minorities is widespread.
Why would they do this when the country is 90%+ Han Chinese? I get that itβs not a democracy but we do have the overwhelming majority of political power and it appears to me that the CCP does tolerate criticism of policy so long as there are no attacks on the regime itself. So why arenβt Han Chinese more outspoken about this issue. Iβm surprised that these policies are in place considering that Han Chinese living in China havenβt really been exposed to the largely Western ideas of βracial justiceβ and reparations.
I don't want to get into a debate about affirmative action overall as it applies to underrepresented minorities (feel free to I guess, but that'll probably get the post locked). I am generally for it but can understand Asians being on either side of that issue.
But what I don't understand why our community is not united against affirmative action favoring white applicants over Asian applicants. For example, how can one of us write about being for affirmative action, while casually mentioning that a study claims that white students receive a 140 SAT bump compared to Asians, and not questioning that specific bump, considering all the advantages that white people have in this country?
The article says that affirmative action is not a zero-sum game, but it's also not a binary for-or-against issue. Is there a single advocacy group that recognizes this? In other words, is there a single advocacy group about this issue specifically and not about affirmative action in general?
r/Malaysia, I am aware that this will be a rather controversial topic, but I would like to hear your views on this - if you are against it, why; if you are for it, why.
also, suppose this is a debate and you're either taking a government or opposition side, i.e. try to avoid middle grounds(so, either you support only AA for the bumiputera, or you support it for the minorities). :)
Title. I'll use myself as an example to start. I'm Lumbee Indian (card-carrying), and thus college is free for me from many instutions.
The issue arises from the fact that I don't live in Robeson County, North Carolina, where much of my family does, and where the Lumbee tend to be poorer than white people, on average. I live in Minnesota, am moderately well-off, and have never faced racial discrimination, (mostly because my dad is white and I got his genes.)
But I still get free college, despite my grades being average at best.
This is why I believe that college admissions shouldn't look at you're race, but at the wealth of your family. Race doesn't generally cause people to get poor grades and test scores, but the wealth of their parents can.
A white kid with a single mother who works as a janitor, but has a 3.8 GOA and a 30 on the ACT would be more qualified for university than Malia Obama, if she had the same numbers.
Race can be a factor, but it isn't always a factor, and colleges should recognize that.
Hello,
I am posting this message to solicit signatures for a coalition Title IX complaint against Cornell University. The federal complaint challenges discrimination on the basis of sex in college admissions, residential spaces, scholarships, professional clubs, medical services, academic departments, et cetera. Men are now a minority in colleges and our diverse coalition hopes to eliminate affirmative action for the female majority. The complaint has been signed by 199 individuals so far -- including think tank presidents, authors, professors, lawyers, activists. Signatories include Jordan Peterson, Warren Farrell, Christina Hoff Summers, Peter Wood, Cynthia Garrett, Harvey Silverglate, Paul du Quenoy, Amy Wax, Andrew Miltenberg, Janice Fiamengo, Lawrence Alexander (among many others). Glenn Reynolds covered the complaint in this opinion piece.
You can read the amended and final version of the complaint here: https://www.scribd.com/document/554289896/Coalition-Complaint-Amended
Every signature matters. All my work is pro bono and I had to engage in a hunger strike lasting for 32 days to pressure the United States Department of Education into investigating Yale University for discrimination against men. To sign the coalition complaint, please email me at titleixstudentadvocacy@gmail.com. Please indicate your most recent/advanced college degree and the name of your alma mater. I welcome all comments and questions, even from those who do not wish to sign the complaint. The petition is private and signatures will be shared with the Department of Education, not with the press.
Kind regards,

Same user, different thread:
"We need to ban all travel to and from China and deport all Chinese people from here"
Biden's $4 billion farmer relief plan has been halted by a judge for discriminating against white people.
While affirmative action and similar programs have survived all legal challenges to date, is it possible that they may not survive much longer? What do people thing about this?
