In light of all the "Illinois lost 100k+ people" posts. Chicago is the fastest growing downtown in America. With actual info to back it up.

Most of the losses in Illinois are from Rural Illinois and some crime ridden parts of the south side. I moved here from rural Illinois because rural Illinois has very little opportunity for growth in most cases outside of Champaign-Urbana(also not rural). Also, rural Illinois has plenty of crime, mostly meth related.

There are some losses in certain Chicago neighborhoods but as a whole the city is growing, downtown most of all. With neighborhoods close-ish to downtown also growing at a decent rate. While I know this city has tons of room for improvement, and certain areas are disasters, I like living here. I've traveled the world and been to most major cities in first world countries and while some cities might beat Chicago in one area, very few cities measures up to it when looking at multiple categories like mass transit, bike-ability, quality of food, entertainment, community events, and even waste management.

And yeah...we're number 1 in some shitty categories too.....but you can't appreciate the good without the bad!
