A list of puns related to "Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed"
Dear Redditors,
I am an employee at a VWO here in Singapore, and my organisation is currently planning to reopen its Rehabilitation activity centres targeted for persons with mental health issues again during this Covid crisis. We had a meeting with the president of the organisation but she was extremely adamant about keeping the rehab open despite the Covid crisis and the fact that even if we implement safety precautions we fear that it may not be enough. What are your opinions on this matter??? Currently I do not wish to disclose the organisation but i may change my mind about it later. sorry if it seems like a rant TL;DR: Org wants to reopen Rehab for mentally ill despite employees pleas during Covid crisis
Edit: just an update for those who are keen on knowing what is going on, after PM Lee's announcement the whole rehab team thought that we would have to implement telecommunication methods for our clients and are working hard to propose and implement it. But i had also found out that the president still wants to remain open despite the situation that Singapore is in. I have lost complete faith in the leadership of this organization and will tender in protest of reopening the rehab. Thank you all for those who have spent their time helping me gain a perspective on this situation and coming up with solutions as well.
TL;DR edit: president of org still wants to open rehab amidst lock down and not want to even listen to our plans for telecommunication with beneficiaries
An episode of a Noel Edmonds show (1980s, I think) in which he interviews a group of people pray into a box to heal the troubles of the world.
One of the prayer people paralyses Noel's arm by doing something to his upper arm (pinching it, perhaps?).
The prayer person then pinches it again to undo the paralysis. He then demonstrates the power of prayer by paralysing Noel's arm with a pinch and reversing the paralyisis by praying from a few metres away.
For one thing, the fact that the likelihood of someone ending up in prison is predictable based on genetic and environmental factors suggests that it's not exactly purely "free will" that is causing people to commit crime.
Secondly, I understand the families of victims deserve justice, but there must be some better way than locking a person up for possibly the rest of their life at the public expense.
Thirdly, we have old men in jail for things they done when they were 17. Surely that person is no longer a threat and whatever motivations they had at the time no longer exist. Is it fair to keep what is essentially a different person locked up for a crime they can't go back and uncommit?
Specifically Iβm trying to decide between UK and the Thai surgeons (chett, suporn,PAI).
The collection of photos here on Reddit is an amazing resource (thanks u/HiddenStill), but there is so much variance in results and it seems every surgeon has horror stories associated with them.
This is one of the biggest decisions I will ever make in my entire life, and if I pick badly it will be permanent. No second chances! Im so terrified of ending up with a result that looks in some way unnatural. That would surely send me into a deep depression.
What makes this 100x harder is the lack of hard facts and evidence. I work as a data scientist, Im used to making decisions based on thorough investigstion, but it feels like in this situation Im pretty much stumbling around blindly relying on nothing but piles of anecdotal evidence.
How the hell did you decide? Any practical advice?
And if you do get a poor result how much can a revision/follow up labiaplasty(Im MTF) actually help? Can a revision truly fix a poor result?
Thanks π
Itβs so hard to explain what happened to me at this place. I was meant to be in a six week rehabilitation program for drug abuse, but I only lasted 33 hours. They use emotional abuse (public humiliation, gaslighting, turning βresidentsβ against each other, non consensual exposure therapy run by unqualified staff members), they had insanely strict rules which they refused to explain, weird rituals and made up terminology specific to the organisation, and youβre not allowed to question, say no to or argue with the staff members. They also refused to let me contact my psychologist while I was in there and took money from my purse without telling me (they took my purse when I first arrived, βto keep it safeβ). I know I was only there a very short amount of time, and Iβm so glad I got out as soon as I did, but I feel so shaken and traumatised by this experience. Iβve just finished writing a 6.500 word essay about the experience which Iβm giving to my local minister for mental health (my sister works with him). If anyone wants to read it, PM me. I know that what I experienced was emotional abuse, but Iβm still trying to figure out if it can technically be called a cult. Iβm so shocked by all of this. I only got home two nights ago so itβs still all really raw.
Obviously sea turtles are a poster boy for the green movements. As a reptile owner and hobbyist I am interested in getting involved with reptiles in general, and sea turtles are, like I said, kind of the mascot for the movement.
That all being said, those of you who have experience working with these organizations, what advice do you have? What paths, and degree plans would you suggest? Organizations to reach out to?
Edit: ofcourse that's the word I typo'd in the title.
This happened when I was about 13 years old but I still feel like ITA. I used to walk through a neighbors backyard to get to my bus stop every day. They had this huge lab-mixed with something dog that would bark nonstop for hours on end, even through the night. It probably had something to do with the fact that they kept this dog outside all day and it was attached to a cable that was strung between two trees (the dog had maybe 20 feet to run in a straight line).
One day when coming back from school the dog wasn't on the cable but instead inside a sunroom that had the windows open (so there was only a wire screen holding him back). The dog jumped through the screen and chased me and eventually bit me to where I was bleeding. I got the bite cleaned by some other neighbor that saw him bite me but my mom still took me to the ER to get antibiotics as we couldn't get a hold of the owner as far as I can remember to check if he had his shots.
So getting to the asshole part. At the ER the doctor asked me if the dog was always this crazy, I responded that the dog was wild and barks like crazy every day. Apparently, he called someone and the owners had to pay some big ass fine to get the dog rehabilitated. I never found out how much they had to pay but the owner's kid was in the same grade as me and called me out at school for making them pay so much. AITA?
TLDR; A dog bit me, the owner had to pay some big fine to get it rehabilitated.
EDIT: Sorry as I'm remembering things as I go but the dog was not that nice in general, not just towards me. Although maybe not "crazy" as I said to the doctor, but even when the owners would try to get near it, it would also go nuts jumping on the line and whatnot. They also had another dog that didn't even go on a line, it would just walk around their yard and sometimes the peoples next to them, it was super chill.
EDIT 2: Kind of a mix but the majority is ITA and ESH. Thanks for clearing this one up guys, its been on my mind for a long time.
Incase of an alien invasion, this subreddit needs to step up and do what is best for mankind and certainly any terrifying organism and start CLITORIS.
